Twilight Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 There are many that teach that we cannot overcome sin. That perfection is impossible. So let us consider this with 2 points: 1. God is stronger than the devil. True/False 2. Perfection is "abiding" in Christ, manifested in obedience to the Commandments. True/False Now if you do not believe that victory over sin is possible or even necessary then these simple truths cannot remain in your theology. In fact, for those that do not think it is possible, the second is usually the first that gets "thrown out of the window"... They will often accept the first, but deny the second. Discuss :-) Mark Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Woody Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I would not be so quick as to say that God is more powerful than sin. God works by established rules. Sin does not. God does not force himself on us. Sin does. Sin dominates. God does not. You can only have God by choice. Once God is at our side ... He is more powerful. But He is only more powerful as we moment by moment allow him in each aspect of our lives. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Guest Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 If God is not more powerful than sin, then how will he ever wipe it out? For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. Isa 66:22 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 2Pe 3:13 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. skyblue888 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Redwood, your name should be Redface to say that Satan is more powerful than God. :) Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
Woody Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Redwood, your name should be Redface to say that Satan is more powerful than God. My face color is doing just fine. Expand yur minds folks. God has more power .... but he is required by law to hold it in reserve. He can't force His will. Satan has no such restrictions and can therefore go after us even if we don't want it. He comes and tempts. That is POWER ... just be establishment of the rules. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

If I didn't know better, I'd say that the arch-deceiver Himself in person is keeping a close eye as to what is being presented on this board lately. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." Woody Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Let's figure this out. Who Wins? Who get the most to follow HIS power? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Guest Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Let I get this straight. You think Satan is the winner? Quote
Woody Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Go ahead. Tell me what the numbers will be. Who is on the Lord's side? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Gerr Posted August 17, 2009 Moderators Posted August 17, 2009 Perfection in the ultimate sense of the word is a quality that I believe belongs to God alone. As long as we are in this fallen, imperfect body, we will continue to make mistakes, inadvertent errors (sins). However, I believe what the Apostle John says, that when we abide in Christ, we will NOT continue to deliberately, intentionally, and willfully sin. So, perfection in terms of performance is impossible in this life. But perfection in terms of trusting God, repentance, conversion and commitment to God, yes, that is possible. Quote
Zeta Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 No God fearing man can think satan is more powerful..................................Where is your faith? Quote Be Blessed.
Woody Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 He would not be if they both played by the same rules. But they don't. So Satan wins. And the prize is DEATH. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
