Woody Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Beauty Queen Carrie Prejean is trying to sue Donald Trump for dumping her for her religious beliefs. What say you? Does she have a case? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,544922,00.html And for you CNN lovers: http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/08/31/miss.california.usa/index.html?eref=ib_topstories Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. olger Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I think a lawsuit has the potential to cheapen the virtues that she earned by doing the right thing in the face of pressure. It could very well lessen her voice of character - at least that's the way that I see it. g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Woody Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Perhaps but she still have lots of character left over. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
aldona Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 What's a girl with strong "religious beliefs" doing participating in a meat market like Trump's beauty contest anyway? I thought Christian women were supposed to show the world that inner beauty is more important than external appearance. Who would want to parade herself, as scantily clad as it is possible to be and still wear the label "Christian", before an audience of sweaty excited middle-aged men? Then I think maybe nothing has changed since Biblical times...Queen Vashti refused to display herself before the men at her husband's feast, so she was expelled from her position and replaced with Esther (chosen as the result of a beauty contest). And to this day Vashti is treated as the villain in this story, and Esther is held up as some kind of role model... (sigh)...it seems that we females still have a long way to go... aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? I thought Christian women were supposed to show the world that inner beauty is more important than external appearance. That sounds like the judgmental form of Christianity that I try to stay away from. It comes from the idea that if *your* Christianity is different than *my* Christianity... you must be wrong. Too bad these folks weren't alive in Ester's day to straighten out that wayward girl. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Dr. Shane Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 The news I saw said she did not name Trump in the law suit. She is primarily going after the California organization. Does she have a case... ? Well, I guess that is for a jury to decide. I doubt we have all the facts. The report did say she spoke of her religious beliefs BEFORE the Miss. USA pageant so the question she was asked may well have been a set up. Pretty much like Daniel having to decide if he would pray from his open window. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 BTW: we have some married women that go to our church that post pictures of themselves on Facebook all the time in their bikinis. These women also have children and are quite active and conservative in our church. Would anyone here like their email so they can straighten them out? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Woody Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Good points. But guess we saw different new reports. They mentioned Trump in the one I saw on TV. I guess that he owns them all anyway. GreatLakesGramma Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I am not judging anyone, only stating my personal convictions. And that only because Redwood totally missed the point in his interpretation of Aldona's statement. God works on each of us differently, and he always starts with whatever is most important with each of us - whatever is the biggest roadblock between him and me/you/whoever. So we're not going to all have the same convictions at the same point in our spiritual growth. Personally, as he worked in my heart to change me inside, my taste in clothing changed, without my ever even thinking about it. Ms. Prejean is young. She isn't really a mature woman, in spite of the position she's been placed in. How many young people do any of you know who, at her age, isn't still somewhat immature, or even quite immature? It may not show to the casual observer, but friends and family will see it plainly. Hopefully, she will grow and mature, both emotionally and spiritually. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted September 2, 2009 Administrators Posted September 2, 2009 She can't help her outside appearance. She is just stuck with beauty. Well actually, she has "helped" her outside appearance. It is documented that she used performance enhancement, so to speak. Apparently she wasn't satisfied with the beauty God gave her and decided He should have had more in mind for her. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." Woody Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Some times Mother Nature give you too much or too little in certain places. For instance ... I had to have surgery in order to give me a correct bite. The surgeon had to break my jaw and realign and add and subtract in order for me to chew. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. The location where Ms. Prejean had implants did not need surgery to make it function correctly. Some fundamentalist Christians still believe it is sinful to color one's hair, wear high heels, get a permanent, use make-up or get braces on their teeth because these things are changing one's "natural" beauty. Normally people that hold such views are men. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

My wife has expressed interest in getting implants. We have Christian friends that have gotten implants. That seems to be a very personal decision between the believer and God. I see nothing morally objectionable with it. God is going to do quite a bit of cosmetic surgery on us come resurrection day. I do not encourage or discourage anyone from these things (not even my wife) as I think it a very personal decision. From what I understand, it was the California pageant organization that paid for Ms. Prejean's implants so that would indicate it wasn't just her idea. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
