GreatLakesGramma Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 no no. That's okay. Sometimes I quote people because I feel what they have posted is more important than what I am posting. that was why I quoted GreatLakesGramma. Sorry for the confusion. My fault. we're good. Thank you for explaining. Normally, when we quote someone, it means we are replying specifically to what they said. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Members phkrause Posted September 17, 2009 Members Posted September 17, 2009 Yes dgrimm its all in how its being spun. But I would rather be safe than sorry. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
GreatLakesGramma Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I agree. The actual risk may be very small, but if YOU or someone you love happened to be one of the few.... It's best to be prepared, but counterproductive to worry or be fearful. Not to mention, it shows lack of faith in God, and distrust toward him. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Outta Here Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Just wanted to say that the people on the radio station I listen to in the mornings just announced that the WHO has made a statement saying that the number of deaths resulting from the H1N1 flu have now surpassed the number of deaths they normally see resulting from influenza in a WHOLE year. "Paranoia getting out of hand"...now?!! This is what I was referring to in the shout box the other day. This is why sometimes I find it very unpleasant posting here. /off Quote

Members phkrause Posted October 23, 2009 Members Posted October 23, 2009 I would agree there are many that don't care Neil. I'm not taking it because I don't think that its necessary. When entering the military I received one and was sick for awhile. Some can tolerate it others can not. Also had a friend in the army who not only got the flu but developed neumonia from the shot. Anyway I'm just not taking it. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

bonnie Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Quote: Anyway I'm just not taking it. Well at least there's one person here who ain't shy about telling us what he's doin'. Maybe more accurate to say people are just plain weary of hearing a "crisis" at every turn and no longer believe the hype. The daughter of my niece has three holes in her heart, she came down with a flu like illness. Swine flu?? No one knows as the testing for that specific flu virus is inaccurate up to 50% of the time. She talked with her DR and described the symptoms over the phone. Yup she had swine flu. Many in the state of MN have been supposedly ill with swine flu. "Accurate medical diagnosis" for the most part has been obtained by a phone call. Anyone see anything wrong with relying on this "scientific approach" to diagnosis a illness?? However the numbers that have been diagnosied that way become part of the statistical evidence of the frequency of swine flu Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Liz Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Quote: Anyway I'm just not taking it. Well at least there's one person here who ain't shy about telling us what he's doin'. Taking the shot or not taking it is a very personal decision and I know that at least in my household, the decision was not made lightly. Pros and cons on both sides. Some people may not feel like posting what their decision is, because they don't want to be chastised for that decision. They don't want to be told by one side that they are apathetic or by the other side that they are perpetuating the paranoia. I respect both sides, because ultimately you are doing what is best for you and your family. I have already seen the swine flu take a life of a very young child, put a second older child in PICU and just make a third teenager just very sick. None of these children had any other underlying health problems. A lot of the area schools have either been closed down or are currently closed, while disinfecting goes on. The H1N1 shot isn't even available in our area, and no one knows for sure when it will become available. So we are already fighting the flu germs. For the record--we are not getting either flu shot, the regular or the swine. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26Please, support the JDRF and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Please, support the March of Dimes.
GreatLakesGramma Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 It seems to me that the flu shots, as much as they've rushed them through, are not going to do much good anyway, because the flu is ahead of them. By the time they finally arrive, most of the people who would benefit from them the most will have already been exposed. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis

Tallmark Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 We SDA's have given our "health practicing" over to the AMA. There is nothing godly about what we do as a group anymore. Some individuals, yes, but as a group, NO! I hope people wake up and realize that flu shots are nothing but quackery (just like chemo, radiation, and many surgeries). http://www.naturalnews.com/027239_vaccines_flu_vaccine_.html Quote

Members phkrause Posted October 24, 2009 Members Posted October 24, 2009 So in other words what you are saying is that you would rather go with natural remedies? I see no problem with that Tallmark. But I think that you need to allow those that don't see it your way to be able to choose the direction they want to go without being condemn for there chose. Where I used to work, the president of the companies wife had cervical cancer. She decided on natural remedies, and did that for along time with no results. She than went with chemo after it was determined that there was no other alternatives left for her. She did that and was doing good but eventually died. So here is a person that went that way and it didn't work. But I have heard of many that decided on natural remedies and did fine and others that went with chemo and/or radiation and did fine. So we can't say what would've or wouldn't make a difference in a particular situation. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Amelia Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 *GP Just wanted to pass on some info I got from my doc today. Went to a routine office visit for Rx's and he touched on some things to be looked at now that I am the big 50. One of which is an annual flu shot and possible pneumonia shot. Got to taking about the H1N1 and found out that much of the statistics we are hearing is fuzzy medicine. ONLY people sick enough to be hospitalized are being tested for the H1N1. No one visiting their doc in the clinic are being tested but many are being told they "probably" have the H1N1. Rx's are being given for Tamaflu BUT it needs to be taken within the first two days of the illness. Also some people develop an immunity to the Tamaflu after using it. So you need to make sure you are actually ill enough to need it otherwise it might not do you any good if you take it again when you really have the swine flu. My doc said that people need to stop the knee jerk fear and treat themselves at home like they do any other time they get sick and only see their doc or urgent care clinic when the symptoms are severe. Outta Here Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Regarding Tamiflu: Don't give Tamiflu or Relenza to under-12s, warn researchers Quote
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted October 29, 2009 Moderators Posted October 29, 2009 My 11-year-old granddaughter just survived a very bad case of swine flu. Three or four of her classmates had it at the same time. She was really really sick for about a week. Her doctor said it probably was swine flu but didn't do any specific testing to make certain. She was treated symptomatically and she came through all right. But she was healthy to begin with, and the symptoms were treated immediately when they first appeared. She drank lots of fluids, took fever- [and pain-] reducing medications, and just stayed warm under lots of blankets, and toughed it out. Amelia Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Great article Aubrey! Just how do docs or drug compsnies decide the age cut off for drugs? A co-workers 13 yrold was given an Rx for Tamiflu. She just turned 13. So is that still close enough to 12? Does the drug really care?
