Too good Stan. If I had heard this from others at church or on the streets, I probably would be very skeptable (sp). But would be very sad none the less, and praying that this was just that, a rumor.

"You may not agree with everyone. But if you are an honest man, when someone says something you disagree with it’ll drive you to the Word. If you find out that you were wrong and change your thinking then you are the better for it. If you go to the Word and find out that you were right then you have been strengthened. But either way always go to the Word!!” Billye Brim

This was one of the best videos I have seen. Recently some of our Pastors received a newsletter from a former Church growth person saying the tithe should stay in the local Church. Pretty self centred in my opinion...

I'm hoping that the whole 28-cent-mission-offering thing was fictional as well... :\

That was a pretty awesome video though! I'm going to share it on Facebook now...

So why does the church not funnel tithe into mission offerings?

I believe they do, folks use to give a lot more to mission work.

So I would ask:

Is the general "take" up?

If so, divert some of that.

It may be that more money is coming in Stan, but just in different channels.

But I would not know, just a thought.

My first thought was, "Well, it's no wonder- who goes to Sabbath School anymore?" (traditionally where the Missions offering was taken)

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Something is wrong. All I get is a link back to itself. IOW, there is nothing for me to see. What are you all talking about?

It's a hoax video that someone did that says the SDA church is shutting down its missions work.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Oh, I thought you meant that it was not really made by Adventist Missions... since you called it a "hoax" that "someone" made. My mistake. :)

Great! It's especially fun to watch since I know everyone in the video.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Yeah, Tom, where's the legal aspect of shutting down missions....? ........there IS a legal aspect to this...right???...I mean, after all, shutting down the missions department means that we would not be able to follow Christ's command to go and make disciples...and we would need some legal representation to answer for not following Christ's command....hypotheticaly/legally speaking...right?

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

The disclaimer at the beginning went almost totally unnoticed as I was watching the remainder of the scenes unfold. My mind went from disbelief to deep sorrow to horror, until at the last when

the Truth was told, I literally wept in relief and probably sorrow at the reality that this would actually be close to what will unfold as time goes on.

I'm so shocked at the way the news and events affected me, I will have to wait till later to get back to find out what my own full reaction will be to what I was accepting as reality for now, when I know this is something that will happen, or something like it in the forseeable future.

God bless. peace

When I need a heart attack I'll be sure to look up the actors involved. I noticed that it was the fairer sex who received the news with tears of disbelief or sorrow while the men, to perhaps overstate, exploded with words. Cheers!

I like it! Seems like the guys at the top are actually getting this communication thing. It was go to see a few people I knew too. I didn't know they could act. Had "the office" kind of feel.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Hello, Lazarus.

Good to see a post from you. Have a question I'd like to ask you. I noticed the picture on your posts. At first I thought it might be you, but the more I looked the more I believe it is a picture of Malcolm X, or at the least his twin brother.

In the light of the philosophy he ostensibly gave his life for, I'm wondering what there is about his life you feel important to claim with your own experience?

Since this is obviously offtopic maybe you'd like to start a new thread with it, or maybe not even pursue the interest.

Just wanting to understand where you're coming from, no judgment calls.

"Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery. Malcolm X, Malcolm X Speaks, 1965

It may be time to reconsider the SDA tithe and offerings system. I think rather than call it tithe, which it isn't, we should call it dues, or fees.

It may be time to reconsider the SDA tithe and offerings system. I think rather than call it tithe, which it isn't, we should call it dues, or fees.

I'm wondering why, oldsailor, you would feel that way? Since dues and fees are something given to pay for services rendered, do you accept church and services including the preaching, as something for which you're required to pay?

I suppose some could be correctly reading that to be the wish of some for others, the same as some wish we all would dress as they do, laugh when they laugh, and play only the musical instruments of which they approve.

OTOH, when a person reads the Scripture for themselves, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide them into the Truth, and giving others the right to make up their own mind according to their own best interests and conclusions, the fact that others have those expectations, it seems to me, shouldn't cause any real concern.

Having looked to the Scriptures for guidance and confident the Holy Spirit is given to those who ask, my acceptance of a couple of promises of God, from His Word, gives me peace whatever the expectations of others might be.

"Speak to the Israelites, that they take for Me an offering. From every man who gives it willingly and ungrudgingly with his heart you shall take My offering." Exodus 25:2 AMP

"One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind." Romans 14:5 KJV

Of course this doesn't mean that other instructions should be ignored in our effort to give Jesus rightful authority in His own body of believers on this earth.

"And [Peter] solemnly and earnestly witnessed (testified) and admonished (exhorted) with much more continuous speaking and warned (reproved, advised, encouraged) them, saying, Be saved from this crooked (perverse, wicked, unjust) generation."Acts 2:40 AMP

Blessings! peace
