Moderators Gerr Posted October 17, 2009 Moderators Posted October 17, 2009 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 1 Tim 4:1 NASB But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, NIV Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. NLT Any thoughts on what these doctrines of devils are? And notice that it is not the mere holding on to heretical doctrine that leads one to lose his/her salvation. It is a heresy that leads one to abandon the faith. Quote

Woody Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Quote: Any thoughts on what these doctrines of devils are? Personally ... I think it is as our prophet warned us of ... LEGALISM. (thinking you can obtain salvation through works) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Guest Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 No no, if anything it will lean towards a relaxing of the standards. Quote
Woody Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Opposing legalism ... is not relaxing any standards. The standards are there and needed. But the reason for obedience is what the end time crisis will be over. The legalists think they can contribute to the sacrifice of Christ. The liberals obey because they love Jesus and accept His sacrifice on their behalf. Big difference. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Guest Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I am against legalism, don't get me wrong. But you are much to generous to the liberals who think that as long as you go to church and say "I believe in Jesus" they are in. No matter what kind of worldly nonsense they believe and practice. Quote

skyblue888 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Dont worry "conservatives" and "liberals" usually end up joining together to fight their common enemy: the truth as it is in Jesus. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
Woody Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Then there would not be anyone left. They would all be left behind. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
skyblue888 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 How is that? The "conservatives" and the "liberals" in the days of Christ united in spite of their differences to fight their common enemy: the truth as it was in Christ. The Jewish church was left behind in A.D.34 but not the "little church" composed of the apostles and their converts. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
Woody Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 You have to be either one or the other. There ain't no inbetween. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Jesus was clearly a liberal. A wild one at that. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
skyblue888 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 You know who I am Richard. A little while ago, you asked me if I was running the school of Christ. There is only one Teacher at the school of Christ and I am just a student sitting at His feet. And who can teach like Him? What a privilege we have. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
skyblue888 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Christ was neither a "liberal" nor a "Conservative" He was the way, the truth, and the Life and the work of the liberals and the conservatives was to oppose Him and make His life as difficult as possible. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
Woody Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Jesus was clearly a liberal who opposed the legalistic ways of the Jews. This is prophecy. For it will be the same in the end times. Jesus will again oppose the legalistic ways of many church members. And He asks us to also. He says to us ... trust in Me ... not in yourself. He says to us ... "I am the way the TRUTH and the life". Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Guest Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 But if you trust in him, you will do what he says. Faith without works is dead. Quote
Woody Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I have dead faith all the time. Each and every day. Praise God He forgives me and brings back the life. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Kevin H Posted October 17, 2009 Moderators Posted October 17, 2009 It could start out with something simple at first, like the idea that God will not destroy sinners. Or taking half the truth about God destroying sinners and using that half against the rest of what the Bible and Mrs. White teaches on the topic and accusing those who are trying to make a wholeness out of the comments of believing that if they don't understand God's destruction of the sinners exactly like yours as not believing in the truth about God destroying sinners. skyblue888 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I look at all the evidence, not half of it. And I have been told that if I do not see it their way, then I am rejecting light from God. Richard ______________________________________________________________________ Let us not fool ourselves. It is no time to try to get some sympathy. We have been told by the Holy Spirit that if we disregard one ray of light we are on dangerous ground. That it is dangerous to utter a word of doubt, dangerous to question and criticize divine light. Thats what we have been told. It doesn't matter who we are, whether the President of the General Conference or the most obscure individual among us. This is the truth and it applies to all of us. What the Holy Spirit said regarding the spiritual condition of the Advent people more than one hundred years ago, on July 23, 1889, He said it more for us than for them. The Laodicean message applies more to us now than it did then. Here is that message. It should not be too difficult to see that it is present truth: "Here is represented a people who have prided themselves in their possession of spiritual knowledge and advantages. But they have not responded to the unmerited blessings that God has bestowed upon them. They have been full of rebellion, ingratitude, and forgetfulness of God; and still He has dealt with them as a loving, forgiving father deals with an ungrateful, wayward son. They have resisted His grace, abused His privileges, stighted His opportunities and have been satisfied to sink down in contentment, in lamentable ingratitude, hollow formalism, and hypocritical insincerity. With Pharisaic pride they have vaunted ourselves till it has been said of them, 'Thou sayest I am rich, and incrreased with goods, and have need of nothing.' Has not the Lord Jesus sent message after message of rebuke, of warning, of entreaty to these self-satisfied ones? Have not His counsels been despised and rejected? Have not His delegated messengers been treated with scorn, and their words been received as idle tales? Christ sees that which man does not see. He sees the sins which if not repented of, will exhaust the patience of a long-suffering God. Christ cannot take up the names of those who are satisfied in their own self-sufficiency. He cannot importune in behalf of a people who feel no need of His help, who claim to know and possess everything." This is the Laodicean message and it is present truth like never before. Let us beware lest we belittle it. The Lord says to us now, "Be careful how you treat it. Take off the shoes from off your feet for you are on holy ground. Beware how you indulge the attributes of Satan, and pour contempt upon the manifestation of the Holy Spirit." T.M.90. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

This one is very wide spread, even among adventists. Quote
