Quote:
Not only immortality of the soul. There is also a teaching that you can keep disobeying (sinning) but your salvation is still assured.

Praise God for that teaching. If it wasn't for that one ... we would not have a need for Christ and His sacrifice for us.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, Heb 10:26

Are you saying that I am lost because I continue to sin? What is your interpretation of that verse?

All I know is that I am a sinner who continues to sin.

No I am not saying that. What the text is saying is if a person continues right on with a sinful lifestyle, just like before, not trying to change it, then they are being presumptous thinking God will save them anyway. In other words, you can't claim salvation, and then keep right on living for the devil. If it is real, it makes a change in you.

I sincerely doubt that anyone here falls in that catagory. So I am a little confused why it keeps being brought up.

Well I am just a little surprised that you thought I was "living for the devil". That does disappoint me. I guess my image is just not what it used to be. Oh well.

Yes. I am relieved. That is what it sounded like to me. Perhaps Richard ... you should go back and read your posts. I simply quoted you.

You didn't quote me as saying that about you. I was describing what the text means.

Here is what I said if you really want to quote me:

I thought you were cheering on a false teaching. My mistake.

That's why I brought it up, and I was trying to be nice. But you take it however you want.

I will. Problem is Richard. This is just one example of it being done routinely on this forum by the conservative side of matters. It seems that all those who sincerely have differences from the cons ... that we are considered evil. Oh well ... continue on. I didn't think you would recognize it. Cons seldom do.

Red, may be there is some truth to this and by your own admission. You've been saying all along that you are sinning and that you will continue to sin until doomsday. Is that not living for the devil, teaching his lie?

Just an honest question.

I look at all the evidence, not half of it. And I have been told that if I do not see it their way, then I am rejecting light from God.

1. True, you tend to look at all the evidence and not half of it, I will give you that, however you have a tendency to emphessize half of us and push half of it as completely true, and explain away and make of no effect the other half of it.

2. You do not need to agree with "their way" however it would be refreshing if you could for a change show an honest attempt to show that you are at least trying to attempt to show some kind of understanding of the other view(s) instead of just jumping to conclusions and pushing your assumptions and presupusitions of what they are teaching down their throats as to what they believe, with a spirit of "My mind's made up don't confuse me with the facts."

3. There are at least two different views that you have blended together and you think that attacking one view that you had answered both views. You have a tendency of accusing everyone who does not hold your understanding of HOW God destroys the wicked, of believing that they hold the "God does not kill" view. There is indeed the "God does not kill" view going around, they are heretics. They also look at and present half the truth at the expense of the rest of the truth. But you think that if we do not support your half of the truth than that means that we are automatically in the "God does not kill" camp.

Keep on studying, be fair to what you understand about the Bible and Mrs. White, but always evaluate the evidence, and when people try to present some evidence that you seem to not want to deal with, try to at least show a fair understanding of what is being said instead of tap dancing around it and accusing the presenters of belonging to the God does not kill camp.

I take it you have read some of my postings. There are those from the "God does not kill" camp, mixed in and arguing along the same lines as the "God kills, but not directly" camp and the "God kills, but how?" camp. And I do tend to get them confused and just lump them all together.

No no, if anything it will lean towards a relaxing of the standards.

The truth is high and narrow and tends to be a oneness of opposits; Satan has broad wide ditches on either side and tends to sepperate the opposits by getting people to completely side with part of the truth against the whole truth. We see this pattern time after time, issue after issue.

I would be curious to know what standards are being relaxed. I just don't see it.

Interesting point Redwood: If you were to go to the White Estate Vault and look up the different standards you find that durring the 1920s, 30s and 40s you find our stanards growing and expanding outward like rings from throwing a stone in a pond. In the Review or Youth's instructor you would find this type of patters "Since Adventists don't do this, why do we do that?" then there is a campain on how this and that is not that different and so Adventists should stop doing that, and when things settle down someone says "No that we no longer do that, why do we do this other thing here?" and there is a new thing moved off of our list of what was ok to do and put on a list of things that were not ok.

Too often what is called the relaxing of the standards is a return to the original standards with out all the excess stuff we added in the 20's 30s and 40s

Yeah. I hear a lot of chatter or blabber about how the church is falling apart and becoming worldly from the top to the bottom. I just don't see it at the churches I frequent. And certainly ... the leadership has not diminished the Fundamentals. They have expanded them.

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 1 Tim 4:1 NASB

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, NIV

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. NLT

Any thoughts on what these doctrines of devils are?

And notice that it is not the mere holding on to heretical doctrine that leads one to lose his/her salvation. It is a heresy that leads one to abandon the faith.

It is important to understand how evil spirits "establish" false doctrine.

They need certain conditions to operate.

The lack of the following opens up a believer to false doctrine:

1. Blood of Christ.

2. Leading of the Holy Spirit.

3. Prayer.

4. The Word of God.

Once one of these is not in place, the enemy can place false doctrine in the mind.

But it is really important to understand how that is done specifically...

First thing they need to do, is remove a mans will.

They want you to "accept" what they are saying, without consideration.

They do not want your "intelligent" co-operation.

This is why most false methods of worship will require you to just "accept" the truth...

Without considering it, or allowing it to pass through the will.

More on this if people are interested....

We have been told by the Holy Spirit that if we disregard one ray of light we are on dangerous ground. That it is dangerous to utter a word of doubt, dangerous to question and criticize divine light. Thats what we have been told.

sky

There is something I supsect that you do not understand about the reception of truth Sky.

You are taking these quotes out of context.

I think, this causes you a lot of the problems you have when sharing your understanding of Truth.

Truth and error is accepted/declined in this manner:

1. A position is presented.

2. The believer then examines the position presented.

3. IF it is truth, the will decides to accept it.

4. IF it is error, the will decides to reject it.

This is the way that God ALWAYS expects us to arrive at truth.

Never, under any circumstances are we to be "hypnotised" into accepting truth because a demand is made that it "is truth".

It can only every be accepted by our consent.

So the quotes you are talking about, are talking about the exersize of the "individuals WILL" AFTER it has been established as truth for the individual, AFTER the Holy Spirit has shone the light into the mind to show them it is truth, AFTER the scripture has been studied to show if this is "TRUTH".

Not before.

Do you understand this Sky?

I do not think you do, and this is why you struggle when someone does not agree with you.
