Leagnus Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Perfection Our Father wishes to see is not perfection religious people think of. Quote i'm russian.
Suenell Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Well it was great up to the point where he just sat in the chair all day then killed the fly! A "perfect" christian (or as close to being one) would have been helpful & witnessed to others through out the day. But all in all, this was a good video for a first! Quote Unseen belief is faith.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 24, 2009 Members Posted October 24, 2009 The purpose of these videos was totally lost on me.. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Pickie Chickie Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 It's boring. I couldn't watch the whole thing. Sorry. Quote

SivartM Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 HEY RUDYWOOFS I think it was to show us that with out GOD in our lives we will always make mistakes and make back choies dgrimm60 I thought it was more about how without God we can't make good choices... :\ But I suppose both are equally correct. Sorry Stan The title of this thread is the point of the video. It illustrates the utter futility of the quest of those last generation perfection-is-our-goal Adventists. This was what Jesus was up against with the Pharisees who were famously striving for perfect obedience to the law. In particular they were zealously striving for Israel to have that one perfect day - the Sabbath. The belief was that if Israel had one perfectly kept Sabbath, the Messiah would come and restore God's Kingdom here on earth. (Sounds familiar, doesn't it!) As I have often said, On my very best day, wearing my very best suit, doing my very best work, smiling at everyone I meet, etc. - my righteousness is nothing but filthy rags, or as a more literal translation would put it, "soiled underwear." The wrong orientation we have, that the Pharisees had, is that not doing anything wrong, ie not breaking any commandment was perfection. But Jesus said that is not enough. You must do good perfectly. That is righteousness as God sees it. That is the whole basis of the perfection as a shallow goal in my signature line. Tom Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

That is righteousness as God sees it. That is the whole basis of the perfection as a shallow goal in my signature line. Tom Good post, Tom. Jesus never tried to convince the chosen ones there was no value in trying to be perfect. His efforts were to correct the misconception that their efforts, no matter how perfect, should never be depended upon to provide salvation. Jesus' righteousness was the only requirement for salvation and it is a gift, without money and without price. OTOH efforts by the children of God are rewarded with many and various things, both tangible and intangible. "Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” " John 4:10,13,14 KJV "He who despises the word will be destroyed, But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded." Proverbs 13:13 KJV "For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works."Matthew 16:27 "For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward."Mark 9:41 NKJV "“Ho! Everyone who thirsts,Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price." Isaiah 55:2 NKJV "For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ."Romans 5:17 NKJV Would you say that the gift of righteousness given by Jesus to the willing suppliant is a filthy rag? Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Guest Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Would you say that the gift of righteousness given by Jesus to the willing suppliant is a filthy rag? That's a good question Life. Quote
Woody Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Quote: Would you say that the gift of righteousness given by Jesus to the willing suppliant is a filthy rag? As far as towards our Salvation? Certainly anything other than the blood of Jesus is as filthy rags towards our Salvation. Of course you have heard me say this dozens of times on this forum.
