LifeHiscost Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Oh course ... those sins that are taken to Jesus with repentence ... are those that do not lead to death. They lead to forgiveness. And it would seem to me, the sins that are taken to Jesus are the ones we wish to get rid of, as opposed to cherishing them. Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

LifeHiscost Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 GERRY A PERSON can not sin then repent then sin again then repent again then sin again etc etc etc and be saved like in the catholic church there are people in most christian churches even in the S.D.A. church that really don't understand sin dgrim60 While it may be true that continued sin after repentance will lead to estrangement, to sin and repent again and again is not the unforgivable sin. Else these promises would not be true. "Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. " Malachi 3:7 KJV "Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?" And Jesus said unto him, "I say not unto thee, until seven times, but until seventy times seven." Matthew 18:20-22 21st Century KJV Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

LifeHiscost Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Why not just ask for victory over the addiction? Sounds like a winner to me if a person asks the right One. Moderators Gerr Posted November 15, 2009 Moderators Posted November 15, 2009 Not to disagree with you Redwood, but I haven't heard anyone excusing themselves because there sin is a little one. But I have seen or heard some mention that some sins are greater than others. But doesn't Jesus say that if we break one we have broke all, to its seems that that says they are all the same. pk "And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Moderators Gerr Posted November 15, 2009 Moderators Posted November 15, 2009 what about addictions? One needs to repeatedly repent after sinning. Yes, I understand about addiction. I think it is the same as what the Bible describes as besetting sin. It took YEARS for me to gain the victory over one. And if I don't stay alert and on guard, it can easily trip me up. But as Paul said, "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Cor 15:57 ESV. It's probably no different than an alcoholic going through the 12 step program. At some point the alcoholic has to give it up and stop drinking. Yes, our awesome God is merciful and bears long with us, He understands we are just flesh and blood, but at some point the cycle has to be broken because at some point our probationary time closes. He makes available to us a store of unlimited power to we need to learn how to tap into. Grace was/is extended to us, no to perpetuate sin but to terminate it. "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age," Titus 2:11-12 ESV Quote
Members phkrause Posted November 15, 2009 Members Posted November 15, 2009 Wouldn't you think Gerry that that is refering to something else and not sin? Like if I'm on a job and the boss says to me, I need you to rake this whole field by the time you leave today, and when he gets back and I've only done half, and he knows that It could all have been done, he's going to be very upset. This is just an example but I kind of take that passage to be meaning something to that effect. But I could be wrong. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Moderators Gerr Posted November 15, 2009 Moderators Posted November 15, 2009 Since God's will is expressed in the 10c, I believe that passage includes sin. How do you understand it? Quote
Members phkrause Posted November 15, 2009 Members Posted November 15, 2009 Since God's will is expressed in the 10c, I believe that passageincludes sin. How do you understand it? You could be right in the way that you are seeing it. For me it just doesn't give me that impression. I do believe we can take away different meanings from that passage and still both be right, or get something out of it that the other doesn't see. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. If only we would keep this in mind more on this forum. I appreciate you pointing this out. How true. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Members phkrause Posted November 15, 2009 Members Posted November 15, 2009 Thanks Redwood. But I do believe there are some passage's that do only have one meaning, but that doesn't mean that all will come to the same conclusion. I mean take the 10 C, most of them are pretty self explanatary but still we can have difference's of how each see them, but it shouldn't be that far off, because they are pretty much what you read is what you get. If you understand what I'm trying to say. Sometimes I don't really say what I want or get it out the way I want to. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
