Administrators Gail Posted November 26, 2009 Administrators Posted November 26, 2009 I have already plugged you on here as the champion of turkeys (remembering your turkey roll give-aways...) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted November 26, 2009 Administrators Posted November 26, 2009 But somehow the wording of that doesn't sound quite right... Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Quote: It is not a good day to be a Turkey is it? Well ... there does seem to be a lot of them around. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 It's never a good day to be a turkey. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Woody Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I wouldn't have any personal knowledge about that. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted November 26, 2009 Administrators Posted November 26, 2009 The day that somebody is a turkey is not a good day. So what Stan said is true. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted November 27, 2009 Administrators Posted November 27, 2009 Redwood, I'm glad you retracted that statement. I would have been hot on your butt for that. A spirit of wisdom is in you today!! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Ha Ha. It didn't come out as I had intended. Once I read it I realized it was not at all what I was trying to say. Oh well. I must not be having a good day !!! Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted November 27, 2009 Administrators Posted November 27, 2009 LOL Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Dottie Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 One time several years ago, I happened to be traveling behind a truck full of turkeys on the interstate. Some of them had their heads out of the pens. There were feathers flying all over, and a terrible smell came from the truck. As we got closer, one of the boys said that he noticed that some of the turkeys' heads were blue. I believe that those were the ones that had already met their fate. We were extremely glad to finally be able to pass the truck and not have to smell or see the turkeys. Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted November 28, 2009 Moderators Posted November 28, 2009 It is not a good day to be a Turkey is it? A good day for the Turks though. A few years ago, we were on a tour in Turkey. The guide seemed a little perturbed that we seem to take Turkey for granted even though it's one of the few strong allies we have that has a predominantly Islamic population. I assured her that we think of Turkey a lot on Thanksgiving day. She was not the least amused! Quote

Administrators Gail Posted November 29, 2009 Administrators Posted November 29, 2009 OH! ME! ME! I have a turkey story! Years ago I had a penfriend who lived in Ankara. She once asked me if I knew a friend of hers that lived in Alaska... (since I live in Canada and that is close to Alaska...) Anyway, she took offense to my using the word "Turkey" on the envelope when I addressed my mail for her. She insisted that I use Türkiye. She was not willing that her country be confused with THAT bird. So I did. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Administrators Gail Posted November 29, 2009 Administrators Posted November 29, 2009 Gail I'm hoping that your not hoping for a laugh? She was totally serious. I didn't think that fighting over turkey was enough to risk the friendship. It's been years now since I've been in touch with her, and I don't even remember her name. I never forgot how to call her country, though. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted November 29, 2009 Administrators Posted November 29, 2009 I didn't know whether to laugh or what. It's just odd. An odd turkey story. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 If I start talkin' turkey any more I might slip up again and get myself in trouble. So I'll remain silent. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
