Woody Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 How many of you saw a wild boar on the news today. It was causing damage in Loma Linda neighborhoods and was killed and then dragged through the streets of Loma Linda. It appeared to be a good sized one from my vantage point. Well ... I saw this on Fox News so I am not sure how many of you will believe it. But so b it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators John317 Posted December 17, 2009 Moderators Posted December 17, 2009 I didn't see it on the news, but I wouldn't find it incredible, because we've seen other animals come into Loma Linda before. We've seen bear and mountain lion, as well as coyote, all of which come down from nearby hills and canyons during the winter because of a lack of food. I've seen wild pigs out in the riverbeds of those canyons. Humans are invading the animals' territory now more than ever before in those canyons. Houses have recently been built where ever since I was a kid I never saw anything but wild animals. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Dr. Rich Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Well now, I will tell you where they came from! I belong to a bow hunting club (Cherry Valley Bowhunters) and one of our members has a ranch in the hills above Loma Linda and Redlands and has imported them from other places for bow hunters to hunt. This has been going on for over 30 years and many have escaped and now there are populations all the way to Chino and up to Baumount. I have been hunting them for years and a friend of mine shot one that went about 400 pounds--a big boar. (No, I don't eat them-but many people do and say they are good eating.) But ever since the golf course went in at the head of San Timatao Canyon, there has not been very many because they trapped and killed most of them at that time because of the damage they were doing to the greens. About 10 years ago a person was killed when he hit a big one on the road. Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 18, 2009 Members Posted December 18, 2009 So what do you do with one that you get when hunting? Dr. Rich Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I would give it to my neighbor who is one of my hunting buddies--but I have not not had any success yet. Killed a few rattlers--and many deer, elk and antelope in Colorado. Those I gave thanks to God for the harvest and ate them--except for the snakes--I used the skins to dress up my home made bows. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 18, 2009 Members Posted December 18, 2009 I've heard that rattlesnake meat tastes like chicken, but I'm not about to try it!! Dr. Rich Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Well now, I suppose I used to be, but at my age I now enjoy Fri-chick and Vegalinks. They are easier to kill! Have you ever made chicken and dumplings by using Fri-chick? My mom got me hooked on this many years ago and it is a favorite of mine now! Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 18, 2009 Members Posted December 18, 2009 Chicken and dumplings using Fri-Chick......I haven't tried using it that way. Good idea!! Thanks!!! J Sonnentag Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 http://cbs2.com/local/wild.boar.Loma.2.1373813.html Wild Boar Tranquilized, Restrained In Loma Linda LOMA LINDA, Calif. A wild boar that ran loose in the backyard of a Loma Linda home Wednesday had to be restrained by several animal control officers and deputies after being tranquilized, according to Derek Bell, who was overhead in Sky 9. Animal control officers and deputies had been on scene trying to contain the pig in the 11500 block of Cedar Way and had the house completely surrounded, Bell reported. Officials reportedly used tranquilizers on the animal earlier, which had not been powerful enough. The boar reportedly destroyed a gate and was seen ramming into doors to try to get inside the house. Dr. Rich Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I was raised to only eat clean meat, but now I understand that it is not what you eat that is the sin, it is what comes out of your mouth that is the sin. So, no, I probably would not eat it. But there was a time in my life I tasted lost of stuff. At my age, nutrition is very important. But if I had to eat it, I would and would probably enjoy every bite of it. Quote

However, Mark 7: 18, 19 have nothing to do with the health message, or eating for health. The context is Jewish customs related to ritual cleansing, or being "defiled," not avoiding illness or staying well. Some translations, including some very good ones, add words that do not occur in any ancient Greek manuscripts, "Thus he declared all foods clean." The King James and NKJV reads correctly here. Also correct is Young's Literal-- Mark 7:18-19 18 and he saith to them, `So also ye are without understanding! Do ye not perceive that nothing from without entering into the man is able to defile him? 19 because it doth not enter into his heart, but into the belly, and into the drain it doth go out, purifying all the meats.' The word "meats" is translated from the Greek word, bromata, and refers to any eatable food.
