Planey Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Tokeep you up to date... My mother passed away last Friday morning. She was 92 and quite frail but did not have any type of terminal illness. She had always said that she wanted to die in her own house, without pain and preferably in her slepp. This is exactly how it happened. Isn't God good? Mum was 92 so she had a good innings. Keep us in your prayers. Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted February 24, 2010 Moderators Posted February 24, 2010 Hello Graeme, I've missed your posts recently. Glad to have you back here. I'll be praying for your successful cataract surgery, and I'm sure it will go well. Those I've known who've had cataracts removed are simply amazed at the clarity and brightness of their vision afterwards. God bless you, friend. Stan Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Graeme I know that things are not going the way anyone here would want them to go right now, but one thing that is working, is that you have a lot of friends who support you and are praying for you all over this world. Planey Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 Just an update: The cataract was removed successfully and the eye has now settled down very well. I can now read again and I am very grateful for that. I can also drive the car and actually see what is going on around me. I kept driving while the cataract was in place and that was an interesting experience to say the least. It is good to be back to normal (sic). Thanks for all the care expressed and for the prayers during this time. Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Moderators Bravus Posted April 23, 2010 Moderators Posted April 23, 2010 Great to hear: reading's a blessing we tend to take for granted, but it's hard to imagine how much I'd miss it. Look after yourself - that's an order! Quote Truth is important

Administrators Gail Posted April 23, 2010 Administrators Posted April 23, 2010 HI, Graeme- I'm so glad that all went very well! Praise God for that! Now it's onward and forward! puddles Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Hi Planey! First off, I was very glad to hear your surgery went well and you are seeing better! That's a very wonderful answer to prayer! Secondly, I've been sidetracked and didn't realize that your mother had passed away. Please accept my most sincere condolences! However, judging from your comments on her life, she lived an amazing life and that is something worth rejoicing. Thanks for the update and to update you about my brother's eye situation, so far he's getting along pretty good and say's he's gaining more vision in that eye and we are hoping he doesn't have to have cataract surgery like he did last time. That's still out for debate tho! Blessings Puddles Quote
Tallmark Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Praise God for modern medicine! Our family will remember you in prayer. It wasn't modern medicine that kept her going that long, it was old school living: fresh fruits and veggies, low stress, exercise, sunshine, and faith in God. I asked God for the gift of Moses: 120 years and his strength was not diminished and his eyesight was not dimmed. Half way there, so far so good. No gray hair, and no little glasses at the end of my nose. Thanks to God, not modern medicine. Just my $.02 Quote
Planey Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Tallmark, I eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, try to keep my stress levels low, get reasonable regular exercise, live in a country where sunshine is plentiful and try to keep faith in God. Should I thereby eschew my faith in modern medicine and throw out my dialysis machine? Graeme PS I am so glad you are making good progress towards your 120 year life time Although I would suggest (from observation of others) that the second 60 years may be more difficult to achieve than the first 60.
