It's the same as the Remnant Bible.

I've see the Deluxe for sale at the ABC for $120.00, complete with thumb index.

You can get the same Bible for as little as $85.00 in bonded leather.

Dgrimm. The $1000.00 3ABN Bible comes with 3ABN written in gold gilt on the outside of the Bible. Those cheaper ones ... don't have this on them and have not therefore been blessed by 3ABN. I think this is the difference.

My daughter is working on the Kid's Time Bible study lessons, when she is done they are giving her a free Bible. I think we will just keep working towards her free Bible. :)

Well, you can get it much more cheaply without 3ABN on it... I think the point is donating to 3ABN. I guess if you were going to donate a thousand dollars to 3ABN anyway, it'd be nice to get a Bible. *shrugs*

Good point Sivart, but I also think that Aldona makes a good point.

Dottie, I'm not real sure. So I will just describe it. There is a little story, then a quiz. The quiz is two sided, on one side is for younger kids and on the other side is for older kids. My daughter is 11, dyslexic with some LD's, so we do the younger side---and yes it is "we" we do them together. There are 52 lessons, and they send 6 or 7 lessons at a time. They also send other little things like stickers, book marks and buttons each time they send out a packet of lessons.

It probably isn't any harder than their daily activities in their Sabbath School lesson. There is also an option where you can do them online, but the drawback is that you won't get the cool little stuff.

Hope this helps. :-)

Sorry we got off topic ya'll.

I would not get any of their bibles because they are ALL New King James Versions;

The title of this version is extremely deceptive and positively dangerous; because the unsuspecting believer will purchase it not knowing that he/she is getting an unholy counterfeit of the real Bible - the King James Version. In his book Final Authority author William P. Grady says this concerning the NKJV. Quote: "From 1611 to 1881, God's foot soldiers wielded KJV swords while defending spiritual barley fields against Jesuits armed with Douay-Rheims Versions. Their grip grew tighter from 1881-1974 as one Alexandrian impostor after another was driven from the field. Suddenly, a profit-oriented corporation (the same crown who manufactured the enemies swords) would prevail upon the church to believe that the Holy Spirit had abruptly ordered a weapon change - in the very heat of the battle! Their corrupt rendering of Romans 1:25 says it best. Instead of KJV's changed we read, 'exchanged the truth of God for a lie.' A true believer will never exchange his KJV for a NKJV. The reason for this resistance is the same today as it was in Bible days. With his very life at stake, the grip of the ancient warrior was so intense that warm water was often needed at battle's end to literally pry the weapon from his cramped hands. A person with an ounce of spiritual discernment can see that He who is not the author of confusion would never pick such timing to introduce yet another English revision! The outstanding distinction of a spiritual warrior will always be that, his hand clave unto the sword…

The truth of the matter is that the New King James Version represents Satan's ultimate deception to oppose God's remnant in the closing days of the New Testament age . Having enlisted the lukewarm materialist with his NIV, the devil sets a trap for the diligent soul winner with the NKJV. Although his worldly counterparts embraced the oldest is best theory of manuscript evidences, the true Bible believer refused to abandon the Majority Text, retaining the Divine commendation of, 'thou has kept my word.' Thus we find Satan attempting to wean him away from his Authorised Version with the deceitful half-step of a generic look-alike, TRANSLATED FROM THE TRUSTWORTHY TEXTUS RECEPTUS! …

Conservative estimates of the total translation changes in the NKJV are generally put at over 100,000! This is an average of 82 changes for each of the 1219 pages in the NKJV…Along this line of abuse, the most shocking revelation about the 'New' King James Version is that it is literally laced with 'old' readings from the Revised Standard and New American Standard Versions. This revival of Alexandrian readings is one of the best-kept secrets of the decade. Whenever there is a marked departure from the text of the KJV, the alternative reading is frequently taken from either the RSV, NASV, or oftentimes, both. For instance, in the first chapter of John's Gospel, there are 51 verses. Of this total, 45 (or 88%) have been altered by the NKJV. Among this number, 34 (75%) exhibit a distinct RSV or NASV reading while 6 show a partial reading. Only 5 (15%) appear unique to the NKJV." (Ref:E2)

I enjoyed reading your post.

Personally I love both the KJV and the NKJV.

But what is the original Greek word in Romans 1: 25 and what does it mean?

Have you taken the time to really compare the KJV and NKJV, looking at the manuscript evidence and at the printed Greek texts?

Which KJV text do you prefer-- the Oxford or the Cambridge edition? Did you know they are NOT identical? Which KJV do you believe is the most accurate?

John 3:16-17

What Bible doctrines are you able to find in the Majority Text, or in the Textus Receptus, that you can't find in the Critical Texts?

I'm not talking about translations here but about the printed Greek texts.

Can you give any examples of Bible teachings that you can't find in the Critical texts?

If I had $1000 to spend, I can think of a lot of much better ways to put it to use than to get yet another Bible. There are already plenty of Bibles at my house. The one I use the most is e-Sword, on my laptop. You can get it for free, and it has unlimited room for taking notes linked directly to the text, i.e. on the same page so to speak. I also have another file of topical notes. I can have it set up to read a single version, or in parallel with up to 4 versions of my choice. And any time I want, I can compare a single verse in all versions I have. You can also have up to 10 bookmarks, and you can highlight in more than 40 preset colors or 16 custom colors you set yourself, and you can underline in 4 different styles. I also have Strong's Concordance and 4 others, and two dictionaries, plus maps. You can open to the very reference you need with just a few clicks. You can also copy and paste it into your notes. And there's a great search that makes it easy for me to find any verse I'm thinking of but can't remember where it is, or to find every verse with a certain word or variation of it.

My favorite version is the Literal Version, LITV. Along with all the free versions I have, including a French version, (you can get many different languages) I do have two purchased versions, New King James and New American Standard. I have my parallel set to show NKJV, LITV, NASB, and FLS (French Louis Segond). This year I'm reading the NASB. Next year I plan to read my One Year Chronological Bible again. This is a print version, not an e-Sword version.

My print study Bible, which I hardly use lately, is a parallel King James/New King James version. My husband has a parallel King James, New King James, NIV, New Living Translation, which he has pretty much worn out in the few years he's had it. He spends most of Sabbath reading it, and he reads through one version, then another, several times in one year. Until he got this one a few years ago, he had never read through the whole Bible, even though he grew up in the church. He's just not much of a reader.

I also have several versions on my pocket PC, free ones from Olive Tree. I take my pocket PC with me everywhere I go, so I have that handy any time I might need to share a verse or two with someone else.

So I think we're pretty much set for Bibles here. I have no plans to buy any more at any time in the near or distant future.

Just a technical point of interest:

The Bible under discussion here is a publication of Remnant Publications--owned by a SDA business person who publishes books designed for the SDA Audience. From that standpoint this Bible is not a 3-ABN Bible. The Bible is simply published by an independent publisher and not a publication of either the SDA church or of 3-ABN.

Remnant Publications has had a close business relationship in the past with 3-ABN and Danny Shelton. It has published, in the past, on contract from 3-ABN. It appears that it has a contract with 3-ABN to sell 3-ABN copies of the Bible that it published that have the 3-ABN logo printed on the cover.

NOTE: Remnant also publishes stuff that is unrelated to 3-ABN.

That is no different from what is done by other publishers of the Bible. A well known publisher of the NIV Bible will sell you the NIV with a special cover. But that does not make that NIV Bible to be a production of the organization listed on the cover.

Okay then ... On a technical point I stand corrected.

But I still ain't a forkin' out $1000.00 for it no matter WHO published it.
