I took the lovely & gracious Mrs. Wagoner to Bob Evans yesterday morning.

After we ordered our meal, I noticing something blocking all the light to my left. I turned to see, and to my horror I saw..

A woman (I think it was, I couldn't see her head) was leaning on the table adjacent to us and having a large conversation (pardon the pun) with the occupants. The red planet was a mere 10" to my left. I froze - being VERY careful not to frighten it. My wife and I concealed our laughter with difficulty. While waiting for the planet to move, I estimated the overall girth to be a generous 32" from side to side. It finally moved off in orbit, but not without chills, mild uneasiness, extreme nervousness, and sheer panic on our part.

At least the pancakes were good. :)

I was so surprised when we went thru Ohio and stopped at a Bob Evans.I have never seen it anywhere before

Out of necessity that was a frequent dinner or breakfast at our house when I was a kid. My brothers and I swore never to touch it again. We found we actually did like it and missed having it.

The in-laws look at it with kind of a suspicious eye and think it was a great idea never to have it again.

They are average but the only way to eat it makes up for that.

Lot's of butter and maple syrup. I don't gain weight and my cholestral is normal so I use that as an excuse for asking for extra butter.

Well, I didn't see any condemnation of overweight people as a class, Sivart. Why are you so eager to jump in with this kind of comment? Do you approve of "anything goes" in our culture? I think we could use a little stronger sense of propriety in this country. The avoidance of spandex on huge buttocks should be considered a desirable behavior. Embarrassment shouldn't have to emphasize the third syllable.

Propriety? How does that fit in with taking a picture and making fun of someone and publishing it on the internet? Since when are fat people in spandex funny? I don't think anything goes but I think that sometimes people should just go and mind their own business instead of making someone else's life worldwide entertainment.

Who, exactly, is this person that all you people are bleeding for? What is the name of the person that you claim is being made fun of?

Try to get things in focus. You are not defending a person. You are dissing REAL persons in defense of a picture of the backside of someone whose identity is unknown and unknowable from the data presented. No PERSON is being made fun of here except in your comments. The picture is a only a reminder of a principle. It is not a known person.

You, on the other hand, have chosen to go off on Olger and myself, who really have identities.

But it also makes skinny people really small.

For those who struggle with their weight, fat jokes, even about fictional people or photoshopped butts, are not funny.

How many people on Club Adventist felt they were being PERSONALLY ridiculed by the photo and comments of the OP?

My BMI is in the overweight range on the chart in my office. I work to keep my weight down and am seldom satisfied with the outcome. I obviously took no offense to this, but maybe somebody else has felt the OP is ridiculing him/her.

We have had generalities thrown about here, but maybe people are being offended ON BEHALF of people who aren't really offended.

For some strange reason a lot of overweight people choose to wear tight clothing in public. I suppose it's okay to be proud of fatness but they really don't think about the mental damage it does to children and most adults when they wear this material. Some fat people occasionally decide to take it one step further by wearing spandex in public - and the the damaging effect it has on our society is nothing short of catastrophic. This is why I'm initiating proposition 250 for the 2012 election.

Proposition 250 states that any person who weighs over 250 pounds is not allowed to wear spandex by law ... join me for a better America.

Ps. I just realized that my statement in post #364877 was insensitive ("lighten up a bit"). I punished myself by doing 50-consecutive pushups.

Disgusted is another thing entirely. I have been disgusted by things which I do not feel ridiculed by. I can tell when posters are ridiculing me. There's a difference.

Check this out: is it any less egregious to ridicule Olger for posting the photo than it is for him to post the photo? (It is being claimed that this photo is ridiculing fat people in general, but it is not. It is a photo of just one fat person who appears to have bad taste.)

I think the ridicule of Olger is MORE egregious, since the photo is just a photo of somebody that nobody on CA knows and Olger is a real person whom we know here on cyberspace.

I don't think that anyone said that Olger was talking about all fat people. I personally just feel sorry for the one fat person whose behind was photographed and put on the internet for laughs. I'm not asking for anyone to be thrown in jail and tortured for this thread; I just think this is disrespectful.
