Woody Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Went to the Hospital yesterday to get an MRI. Even before I entered the building ... I got soaked. The Hospital charged me $12 just to park in their lot. I guess they used to validate your parking ... but no longer. I think this corresponded with Obama getting into office. Had two or three doctors at my side to make sure all went well. Can't wait for that bill. Anyways ... there were 5 health professionals at my side during the entire MRI. One doctor seemed to be making sure the other doctor was doing the right thing. What is going on with our health care ... that it requires 5 people at your side to get an MRI? I think the fear of lawsuits must be the driving force. I must be a high risk. If only they knew that my bark is worse than my bite. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

They have been sticking it to us ever since Obama announced his plans. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

We don't get charged for having 5 extra doctors there! But I do recall many years ago having gone to the ER for something and being charged by the ER, the ER doctor and my doctor for the same thing! What's that about? Nixoncare? Isn't that what we have been under for all these years? As long as I can remember people have been complaining about HC and no one has done a thing about it. Now according to the medical people that I've asked they all say that the new HC doesn't take effect until 2013 or so. Somethings have already gone into effect. HC was going to go up each year as it has every year since I've been working! And not to forget but the hospital that we go to, they are all pretty much glad for the new HC. Not my words but there's. So tell them not me. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 Well ... I was 'knocked out' !!! Under anesthesia. So, I suppose they had to keep a closer eye on me. Of course ... I was unconscious ... so I can't verify who was there and who wasn't. I had to depend upon who I saw that was with me initially and who my wife said was with me. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 3, 2010 Members Posted July 3, 2010 Unusual for a patient's family member to be present. That's usually reserved for little children. The physician and/or techs were probably just training someone new. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Woody Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 I still have a very sore and hurting throat from the breathing tube being shoved in. Can I blame that on Obama also? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

bonnie Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Where you knocked out also? Nope, but the anesthesia was the weirdest I have ever had. I opted for local instead of general anesthesia. I was given a light sedative before being taken to surgery. The anesthesiologist said I would be awake and able to talk to the DR during surgery. I missed something in the explanation. When I was given the "cocktail" he called a cheap drunk as I was going thru the surgery room door it was lights out or so I thought. The next thing I remember is being wide awake going out the other door.I actually had to check and see if they had operated on my knee. It was like we just took a tour of the room. I had been given a drug that mimics amnesia for a brief time.I had the spinal and was in fact wide awake. Neil D Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I still have a very sore and hurting throat from the breathing tube being shoved in. Can I blame that on Obama also? Unless Obama is directly involved with your medical care [which requires an "MD" behind his name], the person that you need to blame has those initials behind his name....And usually you call him " Dr. [insert doctor of your choice]".... UNLESS, you happen to know of a Respiratory Therapist...then good things are coming to you if you are good friends with him...[like not getting charged for things, IE, a CPR Box, or Intubation Tubes or Resuscitation Bags or good care, ect] However, if you have [censored] off an Respiratory Therapist, you can expect some bad things to happen...[iE sore throats after intubations, double charges for simple things in the MRI, an extended stay on the Ventilator, ect] Sounds like you might have gotten an RT mad at you....Do you know of any RTs? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted July 4, 2010 Author Posted July 4, 2010 I do not 'piss off' nor on any Respiratory Therapists. I have only good relations with them all. But I still got 'soaked'. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 4, 2010 Members Posted July 4, 2010 I've never seen a Respiratory Therapist do an intubation on a patient....in all my years working in the ER and ICU/CCU it was always the physician (or paramedic out in the field) who did that. Woody sure did get soaked having to pay for parking at a medical facility... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Amelia Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I don't understand. I've had an MRI and didn't need to be knocked out or intubated. Is that routine in woodyville? Guest Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Intubation- is that when they slide you up in that tube for your MRI? If so, then I've been intubated. They wouldn't knock me out, but they did give me some headphones and let me listen to music. They were so nice, they let me pick any radio station I wanted. Quote
