Moderators Kevin H Posted July 27, 2010 Moderators Posted July 27, 2010 Liberal Jesuit? Yes, they have become very liberal, and to the Papacy they are quite a headache. In college I had professors who said that while there may be Catholic spys that to see them as coming from the Jesuits would be like saying that Adventist spys trying to sneek traditional Adventism into the other churches are all Fordites. St Francis of Assisi was probably the first Christian theologian to promote the importance of kindness to animals and good stewardship of God's creation. He was also said to be big on vegetarianism. Our Catholic friends have made him the patron saint of the environment. Us Quakers probably owe a big theological debt to him as well. I would love to see Adventists follow the example set by some Catholic churches (and spreading to other denominations) of having a special "blessing of the animals" service (inspired by Francis), where everybody brings their pets to church. Dottie Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 That would be great if there were no carpeting! Quote
SivartM Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 They could do it in the parking lot. But I can hear everyone in my church freaking out already, so I doubt we'll have a blessing of the animals service any time soon... :( Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Woody Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Well ... our carpeting is so old and worn ... it wouldn't matter. It might even serve as motivation for more giving. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

AJ I love it!!!! I wish we would do that too. But also as you trace back the development of our beliefs they are from the Franciscan Priesthood who were also devoties of Jehochin of Flore. Quote
