Why are there weeds?

I ask God to remove them ... yet they remain.

I ask Blanche to pull them ... yet they still grow.

What shall I do?

Put on some nice clothes, and comb your hair real good. Maybe even put on some cologne, or a good after shave lotion. Then go in to where Blanche is, walking very softly of course. Put on your most humble expression. And say:

BLANCHE! GET OUT THERE AND PULL THEM WEEDS WOMAN! I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU AGAIN!

Then come back here, and let me know how it went.

@ Richard ... No I don't think I'll be trying your suggestion. But if I could find a scripture to use on her ... Like "Go forth woman and pull the weeds of the field". Then she might be more inclined to do so.

I understand, but you need to cut them down first! And since Woody has already said he's not going to, you need to burn them, not just pour gas. Just my opinion.

Gas will rupture the cell membranes and kill all the cells that the gas touches....but it pollutes the ground as it decomposes...

All I'm saying is if your gonna pour gas on the weeds that are that tall you need to burn it. I'm guessing the gas wont do much to the weeds by itself. I do know that burning, which they do do, regenerates. Its actually very good. I have heard that if you want to really regenerate your grass lawn you should burn it off first. Not sure if that's accurate but I've heard this.

Boiling salt water would kill the weeds, but it would also prevent anything else from growing there in the future. Hot vinegar is also supposed to be good, but when the weeds are that big, it may not be so effective.

If you read Genesis, you will see that it was the man's role to toil in the sweat of his brow while the earth produced "thorns and thistles" to make his job difficult.

Trying to make the woman pull weeds is going against this Biblical and God-given role for men, just as surely as is trying to ordain women, or giving them pain relief in childbirth.

So, be a man! Embrace your Biblical role! Go out there and conquer those weeds!

Go out and buy some "Round Up"...that will kill the weeds. It's what they use at many plant nurseries.

That won't go far .... you have to soak each weed entirely. And even then it doesn't always kill the weeds.

What?!!! You hire somebody to mow your lawn, and he doesn't take care of the weeds in the corners?!!! Seems to me it should have been his job to keep those weeds from growing this large in the first place. Maybe you need to find someone else to do your yard. The young man who is mowing our lawn this summer in exchange for husband's help with remodeling his house, does the weed-whacking too.

Our hired help do all the trimming and weed-whacking around the house. They do an excellent job. But they don't do the garden and flower beds areas. There are plants where these tall weeds are. That is suppose to be Blanche's domain.

A side bar: There is a nice family that does our yard work. The grandfather is in charge. And he tries to get his grandkids involved each week. There are usually 3-6 of them that come and attack our yard.

OK, that does make a difference. Our guy doesn't touch my garden either. If it's Blanche's domain, then she should either do it or get someone else to do it. If she doesn't have time to keep up with it, she should try black plastic, mulch, or some other means of keeping the weeds down. Otherwise, she might just as well till it up, plant grass, and have the lawn guys take care of it.

With Roundup, you don't need to soak the plant. It's a very effective herbicide. I don't know if that's a concentrate Rudy was quoting you, if it is, it would go a loooong way.
