This transcends politics. This is simply a case of bad manners and taints of racism due to the demographic makeup of this development.

Just because it's Glenn Beck must it be political? I guess so. He dissed and I'm [censored]! But as a Christian, I guess I should forgive him for being the ***hole that he is. Maybe he was born that way and doesn't know any better?

What would you (meaninng anybody reading this) do?

Alex

Yes. Glenn Beck is political. The comment he made is political. Townhall is not political. If you have an axe to grind with Glenn Beck, I suggest placing such threads in the Politics forum or perhaps the Natters Matters forum since that is not in the search engines.

Or, you could start a thread with, "A person who shall remain nameless 'dissed' my home." That way, since it's not really an issue concerning politics, you could discuss it here without it being tainted by those who have a slant toward (or against) the person originally named.

At any rate, I don't think I'd do anything about the situation. Who cares? If I like my home the way it is, whose business is it if someone else doesn't--especially someone else whose opinion doesn't matter to me?

I think Christians can be way too thin skinned sometimes. If I am going to get upset because a political commentator insults my hometown, I really need to take a look at myself. Something is definitely wrong with me when public figures "dissing" my hometown, home state, favorite football team or whatever makes me so upset I have to post it on the internet.

This is not a generic insult of NYC or the Bronx but a specific insult of my home. If he would have dissed the Bronx as a whole, I would've taken it in stride. And to specifically slander my neighborhood without ever even going there?

You could replace Glenn Beck's name with anyone elses and I would still feel the same if that person published it in a national editorial column or mentioned it on a nationally syndicated radio/TV program.

I live in a trailer house. I have heard people slam trailer houses many times. It doesn't bother me. I choose to live in one. If others don't like them, they don't have to live in one. I do. Different strokes for different folks. I certainly am not going to let it get me upset.

But have "these people" publicly called out/slammed your trailer house specifically and put this info out there nationally in the media? Like I said, this is not a generic slander of cooperative housing or trailer homes/houses but the one you live in!

This is all I have to say - no more. He doesn't know me and I don't know him. I'm over this. Prayer works. Thank you Jesus.

Pfft - as I said on Facebook, being dissed by Glenn Beck is a mark of honor. I try not to be too reflexive, but it's a pretty good bet that if he's agin it I'm for it. So, congratulations Alex!

Do you watch his programs?

I don't always agree with him, but having worked as a psych tech at Patton State Hospital, I don't see how anyone can "really think" that Glenn Beck is bordering on insanity.

abelisle, are you serious?! Do you those kinds of remarks by a TV commentor really make you upset? If so, you'd be better off not watching it. The world's evil enough without adding to it by watching the Glenn Beck program.

Somehow I do not doubt it. :-)

I really think that he is bordering on insanity.

OK to satisfy the Beck defenders - let's try mentally/emotionally/psychologically unstable, disturbed. Or perhaps daft, bonkers, a bit potty, a pillock, moronic maybe...

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Don't you think that about every conservative,Tom? Why just pick on Beck?

No, actually I don't think that of every conservative, in fact not of most. But if you agree with and defend everything said by an obvious fool, I may think you are foolish.

I think the weak link in partisan politics is the inability or unwillingness to call out the fools and extremists on ones own side of the debate.

Those that listened to Beck before he got on CNN and later onto FOXNews know that he is full of hot air. The guy is laughing his way all the way to the bank. He says what he says and does what he does because it drives up his ratings. The guy may be guilty of taking himself too serious sometimes and has aligned himself with the religious right in a way that is too uncomfortable for me but at the end of the day it is all about ratings.

One must first establish that an obvious fool is,in fact, an obvious fool before an obvious fool can be objectively identified as an obvious fool.Otherwise intelligent people can sometimes say foolish things. In fact, I believe that most of us sometimes say foolish things (not an intelligence barometer). What standard of objectivity can be agreed on in Beck's case?

Would you say the same thing about the people who like him and largely agree with him?

This is usually how people talk when they don't have a strong case based on legitimate evidence.

What is your strongest evidence for what you are saying?

Yes I did since it was referring specifically to where I live, said on a national scale and by someone who has never even set foot here. It was not a generic diss but specific to my home and neighborhood.

BTW, were you the one who removed my post w/o notifying me? If so, it would be nice to pm me that you did.
