LifeHiscost Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 http://www.wellnessresources.com/freedom...brain_synapses/ Health Freedom News From Byron J. Richards EMAIL PRINT Neurontin and Lyrica are a Death Sentence for New Brain Synapses Wednesday, October 14, 2009 - Byron Richards, CCN E-mail: Your e-mail will be 100% kept private. Health Newsletter Details Neurontin and its newer more potent version, Lyrica, are widely used for off-label indications that are an outright flagrant danger to the public. These blockbuster drugs were approved for use even though the FDA had no idea what they actually did in the brain. A shocking new study shows that they block the formation of new brain synapses, drastically reducing the potential for rejuvenating brain plasticity – meaning that these drugs will cause brain decline faster than any substance known to mankind. The problem of these drugs is compounded by their flagrant illegal marketing. Neurontin was approved by the FDA for epilepsy back in 1994. The drug underwent massive illegal off-label promotion that cost Warner-Lambert 430 million dollars (the very first big fine for off-label promotion). The drug is now owned by Pfizer. Pfizer also owns Lyrica, a super-potent version of Neurontin. It has been approved by the FDA for various types of pain and fibromyalgia. Lyrica is one of four drugs which a subsidiary of Pfizer illegally marketed, resulting in a $2.3 billion settlement against Pfizer. My wife has severe memory loss believed to be a result of using neurontin over a period of five years. Not only has this product proved to be destructive to new brain synapses but it is now believed the use of this product in such uses can no longer be justified because the actual mechanism of the drugs is finally understood and they are creating a significant long-term reduction in nerve health. Bold mine LHC So all you folks who might be diabetic prone, beware of people with long credentials. My wife has a short term memory of about 15 seconds. Her long term memory is yet to be determined. And I do understand there is some therapy that has hopes for reversal of the condition. One has the option of paying megabucks for someone to practice on them or take your health in your own hands and the worst that can happen is you'll pay a couple of hundred bucks for nothing as opposed to dieing if the practice is only a shot in the dark. Longing for home where money isn't the highest common denominator. " “Ho! Everyone who thirsts,Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. " Isaiah 55:2 NKJV God blesses!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

karl Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Kinda funny that the pharmaceutical industry wants us to think of anything good that happens as the effect of the drug. Anything unwanted that happens is the "side" effect. They're all effects. Viagra was originally developed as a blood pressure medicine. It is sold as a sex drug because they discovered an interesting "side effect." Now the sex thing is THE effect. LHC, Be sure and explore the many herbal substances which can improve memory. Some formulations lump them all together such as Focus Factor and Procera. Also B12, B6, magnesium, omega 3 fatty acids, and don't forget lots of water and exercise. Quote
LifeHiscost Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Wow, I took Neurontin years ago as one of many drugs for my chronic migrains. I quit taking it due to the weird side affects I couldn't live with. I use to consider mainstream knowledgeable enough to trust their expertise. Now I go on line to research every pharmaceutical for the death statistics linked to any particular med prescribed. I've found most drugs have natural alternatives which have almost no deaths in comparison to the pharmaceuticals. The last one I can recall was 400 annually with possible links, whereas the pharmaceutical in question was 106,000. Some might observe that the natural products do not have such close trial but this is only true when it is considered that from 100 years to 2000 years of continuous use without known fatal incident is of little significance, not to mention the actual tests that do go on to make sure the natural products have no or little adverse affects. I'm happy to hear you took aggressive action in recognizing the importance of dropping the med. God blesses!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Woody Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I took Neurontin for 10 years. I was told it was totally safe. I found just the opposite. I had terrible side effects including memory loss and severe fatigue. I am currently on Lyrica and have been for the past two years. I have side effects but at the moment feel the benefits outweigh the side effects. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 As far as it limiting "New Brain Synapses" ... ha ha ... I'm not concerned. I have plenty of old ones that I haven't used in years. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Thank you very much, Karl, for the tips. The Focus Factor is one brought to my attention just recently and your input gives me greater confidence to investigate more thoroughly. The water and exercise are both top notch health producing practices I personally practice, as my wife does the water. Because of the pain she suffers, the exercise she needs is not as available as both of us wish she could practice. Maybe you might know that warm baths in epsom salts is known to be effective for pain relief. I'd appreciate a response if you have any feedback on results. I've read that most of American society is deficient in magnesium and sulfate(?)with the loss showing up in various poor health attributes, deficiencies the warm baths help to alleviate. LoL BTW, my wife had no problem with memory until just 4-7 weeks ago when she all of a sudden dropped off like she went over a cliff, so fast she panicked and after a week or two is just now learning to accept some of the results of that loss she feels she may never be able to reclaim. After some adjustments in dropping some of her worst offenders and picking up on alternatives, we see some small positive reversal. God blesses!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

God blesses!! The best results with hydrotherapy are alternating hot and cold. Magnesium and sulfate are two supplements often overlooked in the treatment of physical ailments. Sulfate can be increased by taking glucosamine sulfate and methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM.) It can also be applied topically in the form of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO.) Quote

Administrators Gail Posted February 10, 2011 Administrators Posted February 10, 2011 Ah... I see now! Those are the same thingys that are affected by excitotoxins, but in the DVD I saw excitotoxins are being blamed for neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Perhaps short-term memory loss could be included in there as well. Wow! Thanks to whoever it was who started the thread! Interesting! LifeHiscost Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 I will pray that this chance at reversal of her condition would work...you are sure right about the natural alternatives! Thank you, Overaged, for your concern. And thank you for your willingness to pray for her. I recognize it is always best to submit to God's will, and He has revealed His will in this promise. "“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you."Matthew 18:19 NLT We, Jan and myself, are praying for deliverance from the pain she suffers from continually. We know this will ultimately be answered when she is laid to rest or translated. However, we're asking for it to happen before, if God should so see fit. She is satisfied she can endure the loss of memory if only the pain were to subside. Thank you again for your concern and your prayers. "When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby."John 11:4 KJV God blesses!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

steve9534 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I'd be curious to know what the study is and where it was published. These sorts of blanket pronouncements from companies which have something to sell are common and it would be nice to see the scientific information on which this particular message was based. I'm an MD and don't prescribe Neurontin or Lyrica, but I do treat patients who have gotten relief from these meds. I don't believe that it would be wise for the FDA to summarily withdraw them from the market on the basis of a single study. Additionally, much is made of the marketing practices of the companies who are making the drugs, but that really has nothing to do with whether or not they are safe and effective. It does seem unusual that your wife would take Neurontin for 5 years, then suddenly within the space of a few weeks, lose her memory as a side effect of the med. You definitely need to search for other possible causes. Anyway, I'm sorry for your wife's problems and hope she recovers soon. steve roesler. Quote
Tallmark Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Do you know what's the 3rd biggest killer of Americans (after heart disease and cancer)? Medicine! Drugs (including ones taken according to directions), complications from surgery, and hospital infections. No wonder when doctors go on strike the mortality rate goes down. When will we learn? Quote

bonnie Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 . For me, I look at mainstream medicine the same way many look at Catholics, many beautiful Christians in the system, but the system is contrary to the principles of the Word. The same holds true of mainstream medicine, many beautiful doctors in the system, but the system is contrary to the principles of health, making attack against the symptoms with the hope when the symptoms go away, the body will return to health. That's a simplistic viewpoint but when I consider my own trust in God first, and then apply simple natural methods, to the best of my ability for optimum health, the results have proven to be beyond most older individuals wildest expectations. Not that I don't suffer some health problems as a direct result of not being disciplined enough in personal habits. Without mainstream medicine and some great surgeons I would no longer be walking and I would be unable to see. I have had 4 surgeries since Nov and amd scheduled for the 5th and last in March. Without them my life would have been totally altered. The necessity to have the needed surgeries in no way reflects my belief in God ] Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Guest Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Wow, I took Neurontin years ago as one of many drugs for my chronic migrains. I quit taking it due to the weird side affects I couldn't live with. I took 4800mg. a day of Neurontin for over 5 years. I took two (2) 800mg. pills in the morning, two at lunch, and two more in the late afternoon. They were prescribed for back pain. During this time I was also drinking over a 5th of liquor a day, and still going to work. During this same time I was also taking (6) Lorcet Plus tablets a day, (Hydrocodone) and (4-6) Xanax a day. All doctor prescribed. Except for the liquor. I was on the Lorcet and the Xanax for over 10 years, closer to fifteen. Near the end of it all I was having to buy a new 1/2 gallon of liquor, every 2nd day, sometimes less. I guess I should be a vegetable by now but I'm not. I have been off all of that stuff for a few years now, including the liquor, and I seem to function normally. I have even learned a new trade. Am now doing machinest type work, where I set up and operate a CNC Milling machine, and have to remember all kinds of things such as mathematical formulas for arriving at the proper input data for setting up the machines. I thank God for being there for me when it was either turn back to Him and the truth, or die. My brain may shut down on me tomorrow, but for now it's ok. Also, since I quit taking all the pain medication, I no longer have back pain. Quote
Overaged Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 What you say is quite true Bonnie; I don't think tho that LHC was trying to say all modern medicine is bad. there are many good outcomes, such as you describe in your own case. I hope & pray that your next (and last) episode will be over with and get you back to a better quality of life. I think you said it was a hip thing? Anyways I will pray for you in March. I am glad all the other surgeries have been successful. LHC also has a very legitimate concern. We live in an age where we can often (not always) ask the doctor for whatever we want. There are many horror stories in our modern medical world about carelessness, ineptitude; and very poor health principles in practice. These things have killed and crippled many people, making the injury lawyers dance with glee. Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Overaged Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Richard! Wow! You are a walking miracle! How on earth did you do anything when you were on all that stuff? And why are you not dead? Isn't it amazing what God can cure us of? Yes it is! A fifth is 1/5 of a gallon. I had been on the Xanax and the Hydrocodone for a long time when a doctor decided to try putting me on a high dose of neurontin. Along with the Xanax and Hydrocodone. At the time I had been on a 2-3 year bout of sobriety. But the high dosage of neurontin made me feel drunk. And I liked it. So after about another year or so, I started back drinking. Some of those years are just a blur to me now, except for some of the highlights. The amazing thing is that I can think clearly now. I thank God every day. He never left me. Quote
