Yes, I'm familiar with those quotes. They are stressed often by various groups who believe the SDA church is babylon and that SDAs should leave the church. They don't accept the many other statements that Ellen White makes on the topic. We have to take into consideration everything she says about it.

One of the main principles to take into account when studying all of the Spirit of Prophecy statements related to this topic, is the “time” that these statements were written. The earlier statements in which the small group of believers who were believing and following the truth as the three angels' messages were proclaimed, cannot be taken to mean that after Ellen White states that Jesus was looking down the line of time and saw a “professed Christian church united to the world and the papacy”, that this group was still following the truth and being directed by God.

“God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations;...” 17 MR 81, 82

The remainder of this statement defines just who is meant by the term, “church” .

“...it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20). Where Christ is even among the humble few, this is Christ's church, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church.” Upward Look, 315.

“Anciently, the Lord always had among his people faithful prophets, whom, he sent to reprove sin. He has never removed these from his church.” Signs of the Times, October 4, 1883

If men are not whole hearted, they will fail in the day of trial. When the enemy shall put his forces in array against them, and the battle seems to go hard, at the very time when all the strength of intellect, all the tact of wise-generalship, is needed to repulse the enemy, those who are half-hearted will turn their weapons against their own soldiers; they weaken the hands that should be strong for warfare.” The Paulson Collection of Ellen White's Letters, 141

What is meant by the word, “church”? The following statement clearly defines what God means us to understand. This does not sound like a corporation Church “united to the world and to the papacy.”

“The church is God's fortress, His city of refuge, which He holds in a revolted world. Any betrayal of the church is treachery to Him who has bought mankind with the blood of His only-begotten Son. From the beginning, faithful souls have constituted the church on earth. In every age the Lord has had His watchmen, who have borne a faithful testimony to the generation in which they lived. These sentinels gave the message of warning; and when they were called to lay off their armor, others took up the work. God brought these witnesses into covenant relation with Himself, uniting the church on earth with the church in heaven. He has sent forth His angels to minister to His church, and the gates of hell have not been able to prevail against His people. Through centuries of persecution, conflict, and darkness, God has sustained His church. Not one cloud has fallen upon it that He has not prepared for; not one opposing force has risen to counterwork His work, that He has not foreseen. All has taken place as He predicted. He has not left His church forsaken, but has traced in prophetic declarations what would occur, and that which His Spirit inspired the prophets to foretell has been brought about.” Acts of the Apostles, 11,12

You will notice in reading these statements in the Spirit of Prophecy that the word “church” is spelled with a lower case “c”. The name of the corporation called, “The Seventh-Day Adventist Church” is spelled with a capital “C”. One may think that this is just picking at straws. But if one informs himself of the legal meanings of words spelled in these two ways, one can plainly see that there is an enormous difference in the meaning.

There is abundant information on the internet of the privileges and responsibilities of state corporations that are formed under the IRS code 501c3. Sadly, this is the IRS category under which the Seventh-Day Adventist Church is incorporated. The IRS is able to withdraw the non-profit status of these corporations at any time of non-compliance with their regulations, and confiscate their assets, distributing them as they decide.

In conclusion, one can see that through all time God has had a church of faithful believers, and in these last days, His church is composed of these faithful believers within the Church corporation, and without.

Jesus did not come to found a church, He came to save the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Israel at the time Jesus appeared was supposed to be the Kingdom of Heaven. When they went into captivity in Babylon God divorced them and they were no longer His Kingdom. God gave them 70 x 7 years (490 years-Dan. 9:24) to return to Him as His virgin bride and become His Kingdom once again. During the final week of years God ordained His own Son to tell Israel that it was time for them to accept their Messiah and return to God. In spite of this effort Israel refused to return to God, they refused to again become the Bride because they loved darkness rather than the light. The never did become the Kingdom for which God designed them. So when Jesus was crucified right on time during the middle of the final week of years of the 490 years (30 AD) this put an end to the possibility that Israel could ever become the Kingdom of God again.

At the end of the final week in 33 AD Israel became just like any other nation, and Jesus did not have a Kingdom of Heaven left on earth. It would not be until 1844 AD at the end of the 2300 Evenings and Mornings prophecy of Dan. 8:14 would God again put a renewed Kingdom of Heaven on the earth. This is the Kingdom spoken of by Daniel in Dan. 2:44-45 that was cut out without hands and that will eventually strike the image at it's feet and destroy it. This Kingdom is not a church but a people, the Advent people.

If you do your own research using an authentic lunar calendar showing the moon phases for the years 27 C.E. To 34 C.E. such as, http://paulcarlisle.net/mooncalendar/ , along with the Hebrew calendars, Hillel I and Hillel II, http://www.hebcal.com/hebcal/ you will find that the “midst of the week” of Daniel's prophecy was the year 31 C.E. And the week ended with the year 34 C.E. In this year Stephen was stoned and the Jewish dispensation ended. You need to understand the principles used in the Hebrew calendars to get the years correct.

By way of explanation, the principles in the Hillel I calendar were used in the calculation and scheduling of the Hebrew feast days from the time of Moses until the middle of the 4th century C.E., from which time the Hillel II calendar was adopted by the majority of the Hebrew people. The only difference between these two methods of calculation is that the Hillel I calendar calculated the first day of the first month of the year from the new moon after the spring equinox, which new moon could be anywhere from the conjunction of the moon to the first visible sliver, depending entirely on the nearness of aligning the “shadow” Sabbaths with the weekly Holy 7th day Sabbaths.

The Hillel II calendar uses all the same principles except the first day of the year is calculated from the new moon nearest the spring equinox, which could occur before the spring equinox or after it. Therefore, in many years both calendars agree perfectly, although the year, 1844, was not one of those years.

Since the year, 31 C.E. in calculation of the feast day schedule, the 14th day of the first month of the year, the day on which the Passover fell, was never again allowed to fall on a Friday, resulting in an adjustment of the first day of the first month of the year, the new moon, so that it would never occur on the Holy 7th day Sabbath. It was always delayed or advanced to strictly avoid occurring on that day.

In scheduling the fall feasts, however, the new moon of the seventh month is always adjusted, whenever possible, to occur on the Holy 7th day Sabbath, sometimes using the conjunction of the moon as the first day of the 7th month, and at other times using a visible sliver to determine the first day of this month.

The points that need to be understood about the calculating of the 2300 days (years) are that the beginning point of this prophecy, the “going forth” of the commandment to “restore and build Jerusalem”, occurred in the autumn of 457 B.C.E. which was a first year in a week of years, exactly one week of years after the Jubilee year of 464-463 B.C.E. (according to the first century Jewish historian, Josephus). This aligns perfectly with the year 27 C.E. being a Jubilee year.

It was in this year, when on the Holy 7th day Sabbath on the tenth day of the seventh month in the Jubilee year that Jesus read the Jubilee prophecy of Isaiah 61 and, then declared, “This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears”, publicly announcing His Messiah-ship. Exactly 3 and ½ years later, in the first month of the year, on Friday, the 14th day of the month, which occurred in the spring of 31 C.E., the Messiah yielded up His life as the Passover Lamb and rose from the dead on Sunday, the 16th day of this first month, as the first fruit offering to God, together with many resurrected dead. This week of years ended in the spring of the year, 34 C.E.

I have done my own research and I have come to the conclusion that the middle of the final week of years of the 70 week prophecy of Dan. 9:24 is 30 BCE. This puts Passover on a Wednesday in that year, and consequently the resurrection of Jesus occurred on the following Sabbath just before sunset. Right after sunset on the first day of the week is the precise time when the wave sheaf offering was presented before the Lord in the Temple. Also in the year 30 BCE the Spring Equinox and the Passover occurred on the same day.

Jesus cleansed the temple two times, once at the beginning of His ministry and once at the end, both times were just before Passover. The Israelites had specific instructions from God that they were to remove every impurity from their house in preparation for Passover. Jesus was purifing His Father's house for Passover.

John 2:11-16

11 This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples ; and they stayed there a few days.

Just go to the Jewish Calendar. Nissan 21 was a Wednesday and the 22 was a Thursday. Thursday is the day Jesus had the Passover with his disciples and that night he was arrested and that following day Nissan 23 he was Crucified.

So it turns out that Jesus was crucified on Friday, rested in the tomb over the Sabbath day, and was resurrected early on the first day of the week. That's exactly what the Gospels tell us, and of course Ellen White says precisely the same thing.

If you add up all the periods of time mentioned in the gospel story of the Messiah you will find that the period of time between these two Passovers is longer than just the space of one years' time. There was a Passover every year, so the 3 and 1/2 year ministry of the Messiah fits right into Daniel's prophecy "in the midst of the week"--3 and 1/2 years on each side for the full week of years--7 years in the 70th week.

You need to recalculate from the Bible evidence.

Two things: One, there is nothing in prophecy that said that the earthly ministry of Jesus began in 27 AD. All it says is that He was 'about' 30 years old when He began His ministry. Passover was a very BIG deal to the Jews, so you would expect that the eyewitness disciples would have mentioned EVERY Passover that occurred during Jesus' ministry. There is evidence of only two; one at the beginning of His ministry, ref. wedding at Cana, and casting the moneychangers from the Temple BEFORE Passover, and at the end of His ministry when He went to Jerusalem for the first and final time, when He also cast out the merchants from the Temple.

The second; Jesus did not eat the Passover with His disciples; He couldn't have because HE WAS DEAD AND IN THE TOMB at the time the Passover would have been eaten. He was the Passover Lamb the blood of which was shed to purchase a Kingdom for God out of slavery to sin. The Passover Lamb was killed on the 14th day of the first month, on or following the Spring Equinox, and was to be used for the Passover meal. If Jesus ate the Passover with His disciples then He could not have qualified to be the Passover Lamb.

Also, look at the requirements for eating the Passover in Ex. 12 and compare that with the meal the disciples ate with Jesus just before He was taken by the Temple guards in the garden. You will see that rather than have their sandals on ready to leave (out of captivity) the disciples had removed their sandals so Jesus could wash their feet. The Passover meal was to be eaten standing up and in haste. The disciples were reclining for the meal with the Savior NOT standing ready to go. The Passover meal called for only water to drink; wine (not grape juice) was served at the meal that Jesus ate just before His crucifixion.

There are too many inconsistencies for this meal to have been the Passover; it's just not possible.

Passover was to be observed on the 14th day of the first month, at twilight. Passover never was on the 21st or 22nd of the first month.

In John's gospel he only tells of two Passovers, one at the beginning of His ministry and one at the end, the final Passover being His crucifiction. In the year 30CE the day of the full moon was Wednesday night.

No, you are missing some of the grandest prophecies in the Bible, when you say that there is nothing in prophecy to show that the ministry of the Messiah would begin in 27 C.E. The Hebrew people have always expected the Messiah to appear on the Day of Atonement of a Jubilee year, when the slaves would all be set free. Isaiah's prophecy of the Jubilee was read in the synagogue every Day of Atonement in expectation of Messiah's appearing.

Therefore, when Jesus, the Messiah read the Jubilee prophecy of Isaiah 61, on the Sabbath Day of Atonement of that Jubilee year, and declared that He was the One prophesied to come on that day –the acceptable year of the Lord, they knew what He was saying, He had declared Himself to be the Messiah. This was declared in their ears that very moment. This was the reason that they wanted to stone Him.

Daniel's prophecy beginning in the autumn of 457 B.C.E. on a first year, exactly one week of years after a Jubilee year, pointed to the Messiah's appearing 69 weeks of years later, which would also be a first year and a Jubilee year. As Daniel's prophecy predicted, the Messiah would cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease in the “midst of the week”, the 70th week, and that is exactly what happened, right on time.

So there we have it, exactly and precisely 3 and ½ years of the Messiah's ministry, from the autumn of 27 C.E., the middle of the Jubilee year, to the spring of 31 C.E. on that Friday Passover, on the 14th day of Nisan.

This is not hard to figure this out. One just has to believe the Bible, instead of human philosophy. It's all right there.

First, a word about Luke's "gospel". Luke was not an eyewitness/earwitness to the ministry of the Son of God/Son of Man. Luke was not a friend or companion to any of the disciples of the Messiah. Luke's only connection to any of this was Paul and Paul was not an eyewitness/earwitness to any disciple not a companion of such. That said, it is only in Luke that the reading of the scroll of Isaiah is found. You say that it was Jesus reading of this prophecy that incited the people against Him, but it was not, observe.

Luke 4:21 And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

22 And all were speaking well of Him, and wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, "Is this not Joseph's son ?" 23 And He said to them, "No doubt you will quote this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself ! Whatever we heard was done at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.' "

24 And He said, "Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.

25 "But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land ;

26 and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.

27 "And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet ; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian." 28 And all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage as they heard these things ;

29 and they got up and drove Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw Him down the cliff.

30 But passing through their midst, He went His way.

According to Luke, the people were ready to proclaim Him the Messiah until He insulted them, or their "fathers", and then they tried to kill Him by throwing Him off a cliff, not stone Him.

I have done extensive research on the restoration calendar, the Jubilee was the year of restoration. This calendar began when the Hebrew slaves were released from bondage and their freedom was restored, this was the year 1437 BCE on our present calendrical reckoning. A Jubilee year was the 50th year, which was also the first year of the next 49 years. An example of this is Pentecost, it was the 50th day, but always occured on the 1st day of the week.

The 70th week was the final week (of years) on the restoration calendar, and as such, could not have been a Jubilee year. There were seven weeks (of years) for a total of 49 consecutive. Each week of years ended with a Sabbath year, so there was a week of Sabbath years and then the Jubilee year. we know this by the occurrence of a Sabbath year followed by another Sabbath year. There is one time in the prophets that this is mentioned.

Isaiah37:30 "Then this shall be the sign for you: you will eat this year what grows of itself, in the second year what springs from the same, and in the third year sow, reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

On a Sabbath year they were only allowed to eat what grew of itself, so the "sign" in the above prophecy is a Sabbath year followed by a Sabbath year. The second Sabbath year had to have been a Jubilee year, and also the first year of the next cycle of 49 years.
