Divine Healing

Even through the UNanswered prayers of the Saints.

As long as we are making effort to stay within God's will, there is never any prayer that goes unanswered. It's just that sometimes we refuse to believe the answer He gives, yes, no, and more often than not, wait.

If I didn't believe in that, I would have long ago given up on myself.

He does not feel Gods love for him, because the disease doesn't allow him to. He feels only silence and disdain from God. He knows in his mind that this isn't true, that God must love him... but the disease doesn't allow him to feel it. And yet he remains faithful and loyal. And yet God doesn't heal him. It's hard to understand. But in the end, God IS love, God IS all-powerful and God ONLY DOES whats best for His children. Someday we will understand.

Paula,

I'm sure you cannot know how I hurt for you, for I have a wife who loves Jesus, and from outward appearance I believe her love for Him is greater than my own, despite the fact that she is in almost constant physical pain.

While I praise God for the fact that He has given me health to take care of my wife, it is not uncommon for me to reflect on her poor health, including poor memory, and my own good health despite the fact that I believe if anyone is deserving the gift of health more than me, it is her.

And then I remember another point. Who, if there is a choice, would be better off with the poorer health? She who would be treated like a woman, trying to take care of an ill spouse, or a healthy man who is given respect of a healthy man, for no better reason than he's a man.

Nobody ever said that this world is fair.

God blesses! peace

Thank you Life His Cost,

You're right, only those who have gone through this can truly understand it. And like you,my husband also has a faith in God, in His existence, in the fact that He is supreme, and He is Real, that blows me away. He is not always depressed, and when he comes out of it I am amazed by his determination and his faith, considering how horribly this disease beats him, pounds him, to the ground. But it takes its toll. On the marriage, on the chidren, on the extended family, and on the church family (it tends to make you a bit of a hermit, a bit anti-social, and so my husband has been in church maybe 6 times in the last 3 years.) Sometimes I am not the kindest of "caretakers", and I get very very frustrated, and I am not the nicest. Only because he "looks fine, sounds fine and many times tells me he's fine", and only later do I realize that the rollercoaster ride has re-started and I wasn't even aware of it.

Anyways this isn't a thread on depression. But the point is, sometimes people can be following what they think is Gods will with all their might. They can be sincere, they can be faithful, loyal, honest with God, they can lie on the ground, beg, promise, wait for the healing, fight for the healing, and still have no healing. Even when it affects their faith. Even when suicide is a possibility. Even when their a children involved who hurt and suffer through it. So I guess I am always a little afraid when we pray for healing because it does happen, but it surely is much rarer than I would like it to be. But as I said before, God IS love, he IS all-powerful, and he ALWAYS does whats best for us. It's just awfully hard to see it when your suffering.

Also, I was really touched by how you care for your wife and wish you could carry her load. She is very blessed to have you there to care for her!!

Blessings!

I posted my note for the encouragement of others.. It's interesting how many 'naysayers' we have. Nuff sed

I think it may be great to know that divine healing does happen... it's somewhat discouraging to me that it's possible and yet it does not occur in people around me no matter how hard we pray for them. Now, I'm talking about hopeless cancer cases that several of our friends had to deal with and did not survive.

There's always a different side of the coin. It's not as easy as saying "Don't worry, God can heal you". It's like saying to someone, don't worry... I can give you food.

I guess many people worry about whether He really will, and whether He really works in such manner? If He did, then why being so selective?

My heart weeps with those who have had a hard path to trod. Life on this earth is so sad at times. And I have no idea how people manage with chronic pain and suffering. I mean, I did it for my situation, but each is different.

When we are suffering, it is hard to be happy for others' happiness. I have seen that often. I don't want to fault anyone for that.

@ nuff sed: Your story was a blessing to me. I would not want EVER to give up hope or to limit God by simply wanting what has not been granted yet. Yet is a good word, I think. It is still good to know that God is a healing God!

There are many aspects to prayer. Never give up! :) And often the answers are not what we want them to be. I think that hope and resilience and faith are evidence of the Holy Spirit, too!

Always learning... and never quite getting "there". There will be much to do in heaven!

Sorry I didn't reply right away... work, family.. etc.. has kept me away...anyways...

I read somewhere (EGW) that one day when we get to heaven, we'll be able to look back on the events of our life down here and after being told of the reasons why it was necessary to allow them to continue, we'll be able to look back on them and say with meaning, 'I wouldn't have had it any other way.' Of course that would be before all of the past memories would be erased. Seems difficult to believe, but I believe this explains the reason.

"...looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."Hebrews 12:2 NKJV

Thanks... I needed to remember that!

The last time I was at an evening Bible study with my wife, I told the group there that every evening I thanked God that we didn't have any visitors that day. LoL

Lol... I CERTAINLY understand that!!! sad, but true!! And God understands!!

There's no doubt in my mind that you have some particular trials of which I'm not aware. Thanks for sharing that, for my own sense of a knowledge that some of us share in a club one is only allowed in who has the proper initiation. I understand Jesus has some special things waiting for those who at last are able to lay down their load, although this is something that brings some needed relief in the here and now.

Yes... it is a rather "difficult" club to be in.. but when you love someone you don't want to let them to go through it alone. Even if they may not even recognize that you're going through it with them, even if being there doesn't really take the pain, or the problems away. And thank you for reminding me that what I do for my spouse, I do "unto Jesus". Sometimes with 4 kids, a full time job, and a disease that makes a person not really see that people are loving them through their pain, it's hard to remember to do and care for the person as though you are caring for Jesus! That thought will help me more than u know!!

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matthew 25:40 KJV

Quote:
And it helps a great deal when you love the one for whom you're caring." I'm so glad you see Jesus and the Father in that light. In some ways it's somewhat like the story of the man verbally sympathizing with the older boy who was carrying a little polio stricken youngster. His response, "He's not heavy, mister. He's my brother.

Again, thanks for the reminder!! Someday, God will wipe away every tear... from their eyes and ours!! Praise God!!!

Paula, I view you as a true saint and I have the utmost respect for you and LifeHisCost for those who find themselves in the same shoes. You are indeed being God's hands! I fully realise that your situation might be mine one day!

Yesterday, my 92-year-old friend told me that he got up out of bed and broke down into weeping. He just missing his wife so much and is so lost without her. Life can be so stressful at times... He does have some good news in that his wife is coming home today and is feeling much better.

I do thank God for the things that He does even when healing is not the answer. This thread has been an inspiration to me all the way through!

Wow... thanks Gail... though I am far from being a saint... Depression/anxiety, bipolar, any mental/emotional imbalance is devastating, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. At times I react to it in ways that are less than, and I wish that I were stronger, kinder, etc... but it takes it's toll... I was married at 19, having never been around anyone who battled this disease. The day of our wedding, after the reception was over my husband went into a tailspin, and I honestly had no idea what was going on. It has been nearly 15 years now, and I don't think "knowing it" makes it any easier to deal with. If he were treated, either with therapy or drugs, I think it would be a little easier, but... Anyways... it's not all bad.. there are good times when he is healthy... but this disease affects everyone. You find yourself reacting to it, in ways that you promised yourself you wouldn't (when times were good)... It's hard to explain, like LifeHisCost said, only "members of the club" know what it's like. But trust me.. I WISH I were more saintly... and I'm sure my husband does too!! lol... but God is working with us and molding us, and slowly and painfully but surely, we are being changed!!!

God is working with us and molding us, and slowly and painfully but surely, we are being changed!!!

Just an interjection here, not meaning to interfere. Judging from

personal experience, that change is all about His ability, though I'm sure He is happiest when we cooperate with Him in whatever way we find we are able.

"...looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."Hebrews 12:2 NKJV

"Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]--"Ephesians 3:20 AMP

"For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]"Romans 11:29 AMP brackets their's LHC

And just remember, especially when the times are tough, this isn't our home.

"Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God's own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God's [own] household."Ephesians 2:18-21 AMP brackets parenthesis their's LHC

"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ..."Philippians 3:20 NKJV

This World Is Not My Home

This world is not my home I'm just passing through

my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue

the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door

and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

O Lord you know I have no friend like you

if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?

the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door

and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know

my savior pardoned me and now I onward go

I know He'll take me through though I am weak and poor

and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

O Lord you know I have no friend like you

if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?

the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door

and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally

the Saints on every hand are shouting victory

their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore

and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

O Lord you know I have no friend like you

if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?

the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door

and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Woody I love that song, but the more I've thought about the words, I have to disagree a bit. This world, not as it is right now, will be our home. I see it as passing through this life not this earth, because it will be made new.

And what was that song, "It only takes a spark, to set a fire burning....? Woody, can you finish that one?

And your welcome, Paula. Won't it be fun when we're in the new creation where not a selfish thought passes our consciousness. I do believe that will be the finish(or continuing)of what God is now accomplishing by the pouring out of His Holy Spirit in the latter rain, just before the harvest.
