The background: Trump has been complaining for weeks that President Obama has refused to release his birth certificate, even though Obama did in fact release his birth certificate 3 years ago - I'll be posting it below. Trump even suggested today that Obama was possibly not even born in the US. And in order to further buttress his false claims, Trump released his own birth certificate today. Here is where it gets interesting. The crazy right is now claiming that the birth certificate Obama released a few years ago is only the "short form" (as if anyone has two birth certificates). They want to see the supposed "long form." Which is funny, because the birth certificate that Donald Trump released today via Newsmax is just as short as Obama's - in fact, it's the exact same information, except that Obama's birth certificate actually has more information than Trump's. You can be sure that if you ask for people who remember Donald Trump at school from first grade through college, you will find many who went to school with him and doubtless you'd also see some of his teachers. And if you asked Donald Trump for his birth certificate, one would be produced within a few hours. I'm sure there are also a lot of photographs of young Trump with his classmates and probably with a teacher or two. I just don't understand why the President doesn't show his birth certificaate. He has spent a small fortune in order to avoid the question about a certificate, so why not simply produce one if he has it? I can only figure that he's got something to hide. But what could it be? A black man with a foreign sounding name must not be one of us, so no matter what is said, no matter what documentation, no matter what anecdotal evidence, it conflicts with the pre-judged determination that he is still a foreigner. The bottom line is that Obama has already produced legally sufficient primary evidence of being born in Hawaii. But there is a difference between a certificate of live birth and a birth certificate. As I understand it, a live birth certificate only shows the information given by parents and simply proves someone was born, but it doesn't show the name of the attending physician or the name of the hospital. Folks will readily accept that Trump is American because his name is Donald Trump, he's white and fits the profile of all previous American presidents in many other ways. His plane is registered in the Bahamas, also a foreign country. This fact pattern -- along with the wave of new questions surrounding what he claims is a birth certificate -- raises serious doubts about his eligibility to serve as President of the United States. Herman Cain won't appoint any muslims. Sarah Palin should be Gingrich's running mate. Michelle Bacchman has no chance but will make things fun. Ron Paul has great integrity but conservatives hate him more than the democrats. Newt Gingrich's ex wife (the first one) will spill the beans. Mitt Romney. I think his looks give him the edge. I went to FactCheck.org and looked at photographs of the Certification of Live Birth. It's described on the document as "a copy or abstract of record on file in the Hawaii State Depart of Health." It looks like there's no doubt that this Certification of Live Birth is legal and legitimate, and as it says at the bottom of the document itself, it is "prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding." Is this the same as prima facie evidence that the child was born in the city and at the time stated on the Certification? Or is it merely prima facie evidence that a child by a particlar name was born to particular parents? It doesn't appear to me to have been altered in any way, and assuming that this is true, then it is a valid Certification of Live Birth. It says that President Obama was born at 7: 24 PM on August 4, 1961 on the island of Oahu, in the city and county of Honolulu. The Certification of his birth was filed by the Registrar on August 8, 1961. It does not indicate the name of the hospital, nor does it give the name or signature of the attending physician. There are a number of people who say they have seen the original birth certificate on file in the Hawaii State Department of Health. My question is, why haven't they released photo copies of the original birth certificate? Isn't it legal for the Health Department to let the world see the original birth certificate? If I were President Obama, I would tell them to release it to the public. Why not?
