Martial Arts and Christianity??

cardw__Christianity is nothing more than a syncretic evolution of paganism.

It is always easiest to place responsibilities for one's lack on

others than ourselves.(I do not find disdainful of the Christians God, but rather how that God is portrayed by fellow believers!!!) If we choose that route, why not just blame Adam for our difficulties and make it the most simple. Or if not that perhaps the devil. He's wide open for blame. And if not Him, why not God, since He didn't use His power to prevent what the devil has caused. Any excuse (or port) in a storm as opposed to remembering we are the one that launched the boat.

Re: #582426

I see a lot of sense to chew on, both in the quotes presented and the reaction to those quotes. I'm satisfied that Stan has provided the venue for a good mix of fellow believers and the outright disdainful. I'm satisfied that those who depend on the Superior Power given to believers while exercising His counsels, will be able to discern between the chaff and the wheat, while the seeker and the outright hostile to the Truth as it is revealed in Jesus Christ, will receive the just dues of their respective god/God.

All have a god/God they serve whether they're willing to admit it or not. The smallest god one can serve is the god of self, and even if their arrogance of self congratulations finds satisfaction in seeing others humbled as a result of their own superior intelligence, in the final reward it will be seen clearly Who is Master of each individual victor.

"And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. "

John 10:16 NKJV

There is a caution worth heeding for even those who are confident they are where God wants them to be, especially in the days we are living.

"For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities"Rev 18:3-5 NKJV

BTW, the URL this post was opened with gives about as much as any seeker would find satisfaction with.

Thank you for posting this LHC!

You always leave some bread and water, along with your opinion. I appreciate that.

EC is quite right in his observation.

I could be wrong.

It has happened before. :(

Your welcome,RLH. Praise the Lord for the bread and water. As to the opinions, they're always open for a second one.

You still do not 'get it', they ain't the ones making the excuses! Christ even talks about how we portray God. If all those who claim to believe and represent God on this earth would simply follows Christ example with out all the embellishments of their own thinking, we would have far less to excuse ourselves of. Actions not words are the difference maker!!

The only nuance I would change/add would be to replace the word "all" with "any". And also if the underlined were the best/only difference maker, then Jesus would not have left us with so many words or told us to use them.

"Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching."2 Timothy 4:2 AMP

brackets their's LHC

"Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written."John 21:25 NLT

To use words means action. What is it with Christians that think just speaking or knowledge of words is enough? That is part of the issue, no actions!!

You can correct, rebuke,, warn, etc but without any action on our part demonstrating our love for others...words are dead in the water!

I see your words. I haven't seen any actions to go with them. According to the definition given, they mean little or nothing.

I see that the above has been "quoted", I suppose, as representing the art of the disdainful. I've been here enough years to note that the above seems to represent the adage: "whose ox is being gored", as I've seen the same charge made all too frequently re the Catholic Brethren.

And that should lead us to what conclusion??

Oy! dear me, I'd thought it obvious.

Until such time as one desists from making the same charge against another - why, one oughtn't complain about the charge laid to oneself. :)

I'll go with that. On the other hand, you would admit you thought wrong. No?
