Guest Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Try reading the book of Leviticus. Ever hear of a thing called the sanctuary service? You really should look into it. Lev 5:6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD for his sin which he has sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin. Joh 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Joh 1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God! You really are getting farther and farther away from the truth Rich. You don't even recognize it anymore. And what comes out of your mouth doesn't even resemble the truth. It wouldn't even pass as a good counterfeit. I hope you come to your senses before it is forever too late. If it isn't already. If you can overcome sin on your own, like you say, then you don't need a saviour. You don't need Jesus. And if you can overcome sin by yourself, like you loudly tell anyone who will listen, then why are you still sinning? If it can be done, then do it and stop talking about it. Otherwise you're nothing but another hypocrite. Quote
Moderators John317 Posted April 19, 2011 Moderators Posted April 19, 2011 Hey Richard, will you please show me where a lamb is ever sacrificed to atone for anyone's sin? God expects perfection and will not accept anything less. This perfection is NOT the perfection of Christ, it is up to each of us to overcome sin ourselves just a God told Cain. Do you mean that you can overcome sin all by yourself? Are you able of yourself to obey God with absolute perfection? The lamb's blood didn't atone for anyone's sin, but it typified the blood of Christ, which does atone for our sins. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Moderators John317 Posted April 19, 2011 Moderators Posted April 19, 2011 Revelation 3:17 NAS'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, ...Matthew 16:27 NAS "For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS. John 3:21 NAS "But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God." Wayfinder, there's no question that our lives and our deeds are judged. The Three Angels' Messages is a call to all people to keep God's commandments and the faith of Jesus. No one, however, can obey God's commandments apart from God's power and grace. It astounds me that you evidently believe that you and others can obey God perfectly and earn your salvation by your obedience on your own strength. What do you think is meant by the verses on post #436936? Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Dr. Rich Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Richard, the law on "Sin Offerings" is found in Lev. 4. The law on "Guilt Offerings" is found in Lev. 5. Perhaps I was a little too strict in my qualifier called a "Sin Offering". The Passover Lamb was a perfect one year old MALE lamb. Big difference in the FEMALE lamb or kid in the verse you gave. The Passover Lamb was not for any sin offering. Neither was Jesus. Quote
wayfinder Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 John317, here is my understanding. The texts are all, in one way or another, kingdom of heaven related. The invitations parable shows three separate times that invitations went out. The first two were given to the same group and represent the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel. The third time the invitations were given to anyone and everyone. It is implied in this parable that the guests were not to "come as you are" they needed to be dressed in a wedding garment. Upon investigation a guest was not properly attired and was treated severly. This account is simmilar to the bridesmaids account were those with oil in jars were ready and those without were not. In both accounts those without were consigned to the same place (outer darkness). What is clear about this parable is that God gave Israel two "invitations" to be His righteous kingdom and they rejected His invitations both times. The third invitation was given to every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. All of those invited must be wearing a white robe. This white robe is not a gift it indicates that the wearer is sinless, that his deeds have been in accordance with the will of God. In other words, God made known to them what He required and they performed in accordance with His will. The text in Zachariah, is the promise made to Israel that they would be given a new opportunity, that the sins of their fathers would not be accounted to them. The outcome was the same the second time around and the third opportunity was given to anyone who would attend. Quote
