I'm told that when Ellen submitted her Book "Steps to Christ" to be published by R&H it was refused. She went to another publisher.

That's one I haven't heard. I heard she went with Revell because she didn't trust the Review & Herald.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Both stories could be spin to save face during a sad time in our church history. A message sent by God to reach the world, to finish the Work. The past is past and the future is unwritten. Except for the part where God and His friends Win and win big.

If we want to lift Him up, we need to talk of His merits. (S.C.36) This I believe we have neglected to do because we have not had a true appreciation of the Redemer's merits and we need to appropriate them to ourselves for it is the only faith that will benefit us. (D.A.347) The testimonies have told us that the only way to attain to righteousness is to bring to God the merits of Christ. (F.W.101) This is at the very heart of the most precious message the Lord ever sent to us, message whose light was resisted more than a century ago. This message has been lost sight of for decades.

Here we are told how He will draw near to us:

"Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you. Present your case before Him pleading the merits of the blood shed for you upon Calvary's cross." F.W.106. As we plead the merits of Christ in our behalf, the Lord draws near to us for "the merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36. Then Jesus places us close by His side encircling us with His human arm while with His divine arm He grasps the throne of the Infinite. Thus we are greatly blessed with the Gift that cannot be excelled, the Gift of the Holy Spirit, which brings all other blessings in its train.

"The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

You have to sell the disease to sell the cure: if people don't know they need a computer, the merits of any particular computer will be lost on them.

Same with Saviours.

Truth is important

I agree. I guess it is next to impossible to sell the disease to a people who think of themselves as rich and increased with goods and in need of nothing, in other words, who do not know that they are sick with spiritual palsy. :)

How is that?

Personally, I realize my utterly helpless condition and every day I apply to the merits of Jesus, the remedy provided for sin.

How about you, Bravus? :')

You can buy the cure (the merits of Christ) and without money. :)
