Stephen Hawking, NO heaven

Dr. Hawking latest musings claim:

He relates the human mind to a broken computer.

He says: "There is no heaven or afterlife for broken-down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."

I believe him, he's onto something big here! :)

Apparantly he thinks his computer is working just fine.

Hawking clearly is way off the rails when it comes to a religious POV (and that is to be expected in his case for a great many reasons).

But his was the "voice of reason" not too long ago when addressing all of his evolutionist buddies on the subject of alien life.

Quote:

May 07, 2010|By Amina Khan, Los Angeles Times:

"Famed physicist Stephen Hawking set off chatter in the scientific community in late April when he posited the existence of intelligent aliens on his new TV series, "Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking" —adding that it would be best for human beings to avoid contact with them.

Hawking speculated that such aliens would likely be nomads, living in ships after sucking their own planet dry of resources, and hopping from one interstellar refueling station to the next. Earth, he said, shouldn't do anything to encourage their visit.

"If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans," he said.

Hawking has made such statements for years — in a 1996 essay, for example, he said humans should be "wary of answering [aliens]" until our species has become more sophisticated.

IF evolutionist storytelling about life being "created" via their infamous tooth-claw-and-extinction god - were actually true, then aliens are not likely to be casper's friendly ghosts - but rather his unfriendly ones.

But he is recognizing the failure is eminent, and then what?

Nothing, thats what. The computers "thoughts" perish that very day. :) All though, it's "records" survive!

I can't necessarily agree with Hawking's negativity. 1) If aliens were really intelligent then why would they want to come to a planet that was in constant conflict and self destruction? 2) Hawking assumes that these aliens would not be looking for a great place to temporarily vacation. 3) Hawking assumes that other intelligent life forms would be just like said self destructive humans, destroying everything they encountered. 4)Hawking's scenerio seems rather paranoid excluding the possibility that alien intelligent life would not be involved in the same types of scientific exploration that human beings are naturally prone to pursue.5) Hawking also neglects to include the possibility that other intelligent beings may have developed a greater sense of religion and would be on a missionary endeavor.6)Hawking casually seems to include the allowance of the possibility that the organic and non-organic elements of the universe would again miraculously meld together to form another species of intelligent life.7) Hawking refuses to allow that the alien intelligence could be what the early inhabitants of this world believed had always been in contact with.8) I could go on... but I'll spare you.

I have a pretty good idea these "aliens" Hawking talks about are really fine folks who look on our planet with great sadness. I have to agree, Hawking is quite paranoid on this issue.

But he's pretty well nailed the immediate state of the dead! :)

Hawking's "fear the aliens if they are the result of evolution and survival of the fittest" makes perfect sense.

As for "why" in this evolutionist-scenario aliens would want to come to a place where people bicker among themselves consider the issue of water and competition for resources. Then Notice what you "don't find" when you look at all the planets around us - vs what you DO find on this one.

Even without the tooth-and-claw god of evolutionism -- real history informs us of the Europeans vs the American Indians or the Asian Indians or Africa and the fact that advanced cultures coming to a culture where "people bicker" is no problem at all if the goal is to "take over" the resources or in a context where "competition for resources" is an issue.

Therefore Hawking is being reasonable in his tiny-god scenario where evolutionism is the way every one gets here.

Same song - diff verse.

Yeah, he has :) As far as most Christian groups' view of the afterlife, he's right... it's a fairy tale. But the Bible's account of a physical resurrection is a different matter. It is quite scientific to point out that the mind is generated by a physical organ (the brain). The miracle is God's ability to restore our physical organs upon Christ's return, and return to us the breath of life.

This scenerio, of course, assumes that other life form evolutionary aliens would have evolved into the same type of beings that we humans have become, with an inherent need of water, oxygen, and other earthly resources in order to survive and flourish.Perhaps other non-human beings survive on that which would normally kill us. Hey,I've watched Star Trek.

That's a big "if" in the above quote. What "if" those aliens were not a result of evolution and survival? What advice would Hawking offer then? Would that affect his overall view of this world's origins? If the evolution and survival take was right then why should humanity have any positive outlook on the world's future without religion? Must be depressing. If it didn't work for the other intelligent beings, what hope is there for us?

Agreed. Hawking would be predisposed to a pretty bleak view of the universe given his bias in favor of evolutionism as the right doctrine on the origin for all life.

Hawking is simply working based in the history of human colonialism on Earth.

That one is more of a challenge for creationists: how do we explain the viciousness of created beings?

That's a silly question, of course: there's the devil...

But I don't think it's that much sillier than most of the conjectures being tossed around in this thread so far.

Hawking's psuedo scientific explanations for the why's of this life fall far short of any reasonable satisfaction. He attacks the very idea (religion)that fosters the human response against evil, mocks the antidote provided by religion, and then blames religion for the perpetuation of that which he says is the foundation of human evolution, survival of the fittest. If there is no God or Higher Authority then there is no wrong in human colonialism. The resources are here for the strongest. Here today, gone tomorrow, who cares? Creationists have an explanation for human evil. The atheist steals the creationist standard and creates his own explanation.

See the following summary of Hawking's views -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/a...e-Universe.html

Hawking makes a few reasonable arguments GIVEN absolute faith in evolutionism as absolute revealed truth.

1. If the laws of physics can "demonstrate" the creation of something from nothing - (the universe from nothing for example) then what cannot be explained in evolution?

There is no need for god.

2. If other planets are much more common than we first imagined - then life on other planets is far more likely than we first imagined (in our "create something from nothing" universe).

No god needed to create them.

3. If humanity does not find a way to leave this planet in the next two hundred years - then humanity as a species will not survive.

No god - so God will not rescue from our own meltdown of natural resources.

4. If other species have faced this same dilemma before us then advanced species could be roving in large space ships trying to find a new home with unspent natural resources just as we ourselves must do within 200 years if all else fails.

No God so God will not rescue us from any advanced culture that finds us and wants the resources of a rare life-supporting planet.

5. Hawking views himself as a broken computer that will one day simply "go dark".

That all makes sense in a Hawking (Mr. Negativity) world.Vanity, vanity, all is vanity!! He who creates the hypothetical controls the outcome.

Hawking's mental depression is sad. Apparently he's already forgotten that this scenerio has been already well documented. kal-el arrived on this planet many years ago and proved to be a very positive influence in countering the direction our world was headed. Though the resources of his own planet,Krypton, were spent he found refuge and meaning in his mission to this earth. This should at least give Hawking hope that aliens may not be all bad. What if higher forms of intelligence evolved into kinder, gentler, more spiritual beings? Hawking is stuck in the confines of his own unbelief.

Perfect agreement. Just goes to show, it doesn't matter how smart you are, if you begin with the wrong assumptions and premises, you won't arrive at the right conclusions.

im being silly with the percentages

but i do believe that cause we have the BIBLE to guide us concerning the facts of GOD TAKING CARE OF THE SIN PROBLEM in the giant picture

lends itself to understanding the premises that we set up for each here in our discussions as a body of believers

therefore we collectively arrive at the same conclusion that at least 21 percent agree upon

i hope that made sense
