Dr. Shane Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 The government was much bigger during WW2 than it is now. It took over private industry and dictated what factories could produce and how much. Many products were rationed. To keep things in perspective, WW2 were the hay days of big government. Could we be headed back to that? I think that is a possibility. Obama taking control of GM and Chrysler is certainly disturbing. The reason Democrats want high taxes is so that they can control the rich and corporations through tax loop holes. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman

Dr. Shane Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Government employment was very high during WW2 too. We can shrink government by growing the private sector. It really is that simple. First we need a fiscal conservative willing to shrink government. With the right direction, as the private sector grows the public sector can shrink rather painlessly. I have seen that comparison between private sector salaries and public sector salaries before but I am not convinced. I would have to see the internals of the study to see how they arrive at those numbers. The private sector typically pays more which is why we see IRS agents go to work for accounting firms and public defenders going to work for private law firms. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
