doug yowell Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Am waiting for 'them' to rise up and say that the Hurricane is God's judgement for the recent Gay Marriage vote. I get your point,Stan, but do you think that no judgment at all in this life awaits those who go down the gay is ok road? Quote
Stan Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 I think the hurricane would have existed even if the vote went the other way. Parade Orange Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 for many on this earth there is no judgement in this life its the here after there are countless stories of pain and poverty for good people and many stories of rich and proud who go down in the pit without drudgery look at psalms 73 when AIDS came many self rightouse idiots thought it was a punishment from GOD and acted like it to the gay community they had a chance to minister and to save others as well as their own souls to be saved in the process Quote All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

Moderators John317 Posted August 27, 2011 Moderators Posted August 27, 2011 While I agree that we can't say that a particular hurricane or earthquake, etc., is a judgment from God, yet we know that these things will increase and that they will be judgments from God. I think we should be careful about blaming particular people for natural disasters. One day SDAs will be blamed. Quote: I was shown that the judgments of God would not come directly out from the Lord upon them, but in this way: They place themselves beyond His protection. He warns, corrects, reproves, and points out the only path of safety; then if those who have been the objects of His special care will follow their own course independent of the Spirit of God, after repeated warnings, if they choose their own way, then He does not commission His angels to prevent Satan's decided attacks upon them. It is Satan's power that is at work at sea and on land, bringing calamity and distress, and sweeping off multitudes to make sure of his prey. And storm and tempest both by sea and land will be, for Satan has come down in great wrath. He is at work. He knows his time is short and, if he is not restrained, we shall see more terrible manifestations of his power than we have ever dreamed of. {14MR 3.1} Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Members phkrause Posted August 27, 2011 Members Posted August 27, 2011 Actually its the earthquake that he's blaming. Pretty sad either way. I have no problem with him being against gay marriage but I definitely have a problem with him saying it caused the earthquake. I think he needs to read his Bible a little better. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Stan Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 They could be suffering because of similar sins to Sodom. http://bible.cc/ezekiel/16-49.htm Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. A question we all need to ask our selves, are we quilty of the same SINS OF SODOM? BobRyan Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Am waiting for 'them' to rise up and say that the Hurricane is God's judgement for the recent Gay Marriage vote. Forgot about that... Katrina is always associated with the "gay pride" parade or something that was to happen in N.O. at about that time. You seem to be saying that the historic violation of Lev 18 that NY was experimenting with recently - might be linked to a historic weather event as well or the last earth quake on the East coast? or both? in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." Dr. Shane Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Am waiting for 'them' to rise up and say that the Hurricane is God's judgement for the recent Gay Marriage vote. Isn't it a little presumptuous to ridicule someone or some group for saying or doing something before they say or do anything? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 The Religious Right led by those like Pat Robertson and James Dobson have been known to make some outlandish accusations. I understand that. Most Adventists consider those folks to be part of spiritual Babylon. However I think we should actually wait for them to make outlandish accusations before we criticize them for saying what they have yet to say. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. Prior to homosexuality being taken off the list of mental illnesses, some psychiatrists treating homosexuals had noted that the homosexuals were extremely self-absorbed much like alcoholics. It is very possible that the pride, gluttony and neglect of the poor in Sodom was directly related to the rampant homosexuality there. Remember gay sex is only one symptom of the disorder. M. T. Cross Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 My thought is this. If "God" is so powerful that he can send a hurricane as the judgement for homosexuality, then why would he destroy the lives of so many of his faithfull straight people in the process? Why not just target the gays? Or this. By Bible accounts we were charged with the care of this planet and its creatures. We certainly have screwed that one up. So rather than focusing on the sexual tendancies of an overall small amount of humans ( and from what I have read - most male Giraffes ) as the reason for Gods wrath, maybe we should look at the life practices of most the human race as we destroy what your Bible says to be a gift from God. More likely however its just a cycle of nature and things will die and things will regrow as they have since the beginning. Quote

olger Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Well not everybody is in favor of gay marriage/homosexuality. Some of us narrowminded bible believers actually call it sin. Astounding, G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
