Moderators lazarus Posted August 29, 2011 Moderators Posted August 29, 2011 Why does Perry scare you, dgrimm? Perry is really Bush III. He's talk a good game but of course he's a just regular politician, he'll do what he has to do to win. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein

As far as spending and many other acts Obama is Bush 3 on steroids.Perry could not possible outspend Obama or out destroy this country as Obama is doing Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Dr. Shane Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Health care alone would have been major.I thought you wanted this marvelous cost saving plan with a little tweeking. What I wanted was a single-payer system. I do think it is good that Obama did something and I do hope that the Republicans will be able to tweek it or that the Courts through out part of it and force a tweeking. The do-nothing Republicans had years to deal with the issue. The only reason Obama had opportunity to mess with it is because the Republicans ignored it for so long. The do-nothing Republicans had years to deal with the issue. The only reason Obama had opportunity to mess with it is because the Republicans ignored it for so long. It will take a little more than tweeking. Most that thought government intervention in health care was going to be great now are hoping a republican gets in and throws it out. Dr. Shane Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Perry is really Bush III. Not at all. I'm from Texas. I was here when Bush was governor and when Perry was governor. Perry is not Bush. First off, Bush is a life-long Republican. Perry was a Southern Democrat that moved over to Republican ranks in the early '90s. Second, Bush was born in Connecticut and went to school at Harvard and Yale. Perry was born in Texas and went to Texas A&M. If elected, Perry will be only the second Texan to be elected President - the first being Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson. Third, Perry is a true fiscal conservative. Perry has balanced the Texas budget with some major drops in revenue without having to raise taxes. If the US population really wants to reduce the national deficit, Perry will make that happen. If the voting public really wants to move away from run-away spending, Perry is the candidate that can deliver. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 There are things that could have been done without making health insurance a welfare program That rings rather shallow. The Republicans controlled all branches of government and did nothing. It took Obama to shake things up. Health care costs have been growing at greater than 5% each year while inflation has been around 2%. Something had to be done. Republicans just buried their heads in the sand. If they have the answers, why didn't they do something when they had all the power? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Members phkrause Posted August 29, 2011 Members Posted August 29, 2011 McCain has never met a Democrat that he didn't want to compromise with. That's not what I've seen from McCain, since Obama became President. He might have been before or at one time, but not since. I could be wrong, but I remember at least 2 occasions that he had the opportunity to compromise and didn't. And just because he's willing to compromise doesn't make him a bad chose. As far as I'm concerned any politician that's willing to compromise for what's best for the people, those are the ones I would consider voting for. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Dr. Shane Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 McCain is a chameleon. He has just changed color since Obama was elected. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

If they have the answers, why didn't they do something when they had all the power? Why they didn't,I don't know. That does not mean you bankrupt the country just so you can say "you did something" One thing they could begin doing is lifting some of the mandates. They could also let insurance be bought across state lines. The competition alone would bring it down.I pay approximetly half of what my brother pays in another state. Moderators John317 Posted August 29, 2011 Moderators Posted August 29, 2011 Bachmann could win Iowa. Romney could win New Hampshire. Perry could win South Carolina. I can't see Bachmann going much further than that. She simply hasn't accomplished anything and has no executive experience. The way it looks now, I think it will be a fight between Romney and Perry - unless someone else jumps in that changes the game. I'm in complete agreement with you, Shane. I hope those two don't beat each other up too badly because they might make a good ticket together. I think Republicans and Independents are basically just waiting to see which candidate is strongest in order to beat Obama. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Dr. Shane Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Some of the right-wing talk show hosts are going crazy over the idea of having Bachmann or Marco Rubio on the bottom of the ticket but I think if either Perry or Romney get it they will want to run as an outsider and having a member of Congress on the ticket would not help.
