What Bible predictions have come true?

2. Predictions of the Bible: What literally was predicted that, without a shadow of a doubt, has come true? How many prophecies were self fulfilling with text written after the fact? With respect, when I read Daniel and Revelations, it appears as if a whole pile of interpretation was required to bend symbolic language into current or historical events. And if these predictions are absolutely true, why don’t all Christians agree so? If Christians themselves can’t agree, how can an agnostic treat such predictive claims as reliable?

What say you?

Found anything in Daniel 2 or 9 that you think of as "significant"??

What Bible predictions have come true?

That God Himself would come and save us...

...Isaiah 35,4.

It was a PROMISE not a prediction.

Indeed. It is fallacy, no – delusional, to have wrested the book of Daniel against the expressed commandment of Gd (Dan 12:4) – when germ theory was still an evanescent dream and men for the most part still went about on shank's mare. Moreover,

to have then compounded such an egregious act against Gd by – proselytizing such wresting as ultimate truths – Gd-revealed truths – assaults

the very senses of the truly serious.

Oy vay!—significado!

(not exactly chapters 2 and 9 - but relative)

Salvation was indeed provided for & absolutely predestined for "all" humanity...

...That is not however saying all will accept it.

...As Scripture says some clearly will not.

I take it you are a Jew as they are the only ones I know of who do not fully spell "GOD"...

...Opting instead to render it as you have, or "G-d".

...On the other hand you write like you are a universalist.

...Another heresy I might add.

The Bible does not predict anything, it contains prophecies. The prophecies are revelations of future events or realities, God does not predict the future He reveals it.

Daniel chapter two contains the prophecy of the progression of the kingdoms of the world, we are now in the feet part of this prophecy, one need only to look around and have a sense of what is going on to see it's fullfillment. The stone (cut out without hands) is in the process of fullfillment; the prophecy in Matthew 24:42-51 is a further account of this stone prophecy. The prophecy of the ten bridesmaids, which are called the kingdom of heaven, was fullfilled on October 22, 1844. This event was also a fullfillment of the 2300 evenings and mornings prophecy. The sanctuary in the heavens began operation in behalf of the kingdom of the heavens, when they separated themselves from the churches of the day and went out to meet the Bridegroom.

Very many.

Let's start with Ezekiel 26: 2-5.

26:2 Son of man, because that Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken [that was] the gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, [now] she is laid waste:

26:3 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I [am] against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.

26:4 And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus, and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock.

26:5 It shall be [a place for] the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken [it], saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a spoil to the nations.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Here's another one:

1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be [any] remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken [it].

This prophecy was written hundreds of years before it was fulfilled. It was probably written between 500-400 BC. The last Edomite died sometime about 70 AD. At the time the prophecy was written, there were many Edomites alive. For instance, Herod the Great and the other Herods were Edomites. But the prophecy predicted that there would be none of the house of Esau left. It happened like the Lord had said.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, ...

Coupla things: Writ implies/indicates that that not only was Salvation provided – but that it also – will be provided for – “all” humanity.

Color that ‘Universalism’.

>>...That is not however saying all will accept it.<<

Evidently, not in these past nor in this present age(s); however, what of the age(s) to come? After all, how can man choose/accept when he is either – oblivious or unknowledgeable of ‘salvation’?—and when his time during this sojourn is, admittedly, but “a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow”?

Gd either loves or does not love the individual man – if unconditionally so – then He must provide him the decent interval to make a choice – based upon Gd’s due diligence and man’s full cognizance.

It is not happening presently.

>>...As Scripture says some clearly will not.<<

Indeed, not in their limited time and under their circumstances; however, does it all end there?

To suggest that Gd’s hand is so short that He cannot save – is appalling.

>>I take it you are a Jew as they are the only ones I know of who do not fully spell "GOD"...<<

Not a Jew, everything but... Picked that up from the Jews and from OT Writ, which is consonantal.

>>...Opting instead to render it as you have, or "G-d".<<

I, rather, render it – Gd, as OT Writ renders it YHWH – both consonantal.

>>...On the other hand you write like you are a universalist.<<

Tending there...

>>...Another heresy I might add.<<

Heresy is in the eye of the beholder – which may describe some, if not all, of your beliefs, I might add.

The bending theories suggest "it is appointed unto man once to die and then comes more offers of salvation, more new birth experiences".

"not so" says the Bible.

This is why Scripture says Christ took it to those who had long ago "died".

One thing is for sure - your eternal fate is determined at your point of death...

...You are either saved or you are not.

You make my point with the apparently oxymoronic aspect of the above two quotes; that is, one or more provisional plan(s) of salvation exists and extends beyond ‘death’.

There it is – a bit of heresy which true Orthodoxy will not address – Gd, who truly loves, implementing a provisional plan for the salvation of man.

(Labor Day – so will address your post point by point) later...

The “4” world empires bespeak themselves; however, what’s the rest of the story re chapter 2?

>>...to the 2300 year timeline<<

Whole cloth interpretation.

>>...to the miracle of prophetic evidence in this 6th century B.C. document!<<

Wrested and misunderstood – else we make Gd – more fool Him. [/repectfully]

I submit, again, Daniel 12:4, which explicitly references the entire book – and not simply segments this or that.

Should the .Org be truly Gd’s ‘Remnant’ – surely it'd spare embarrassing Gd with y’alls' recalcitrance, yes?

Hey Bob,

Ever wonder what Heaven thinks?

When Questions are specifically asked about Daniel 2 & 9 there is so much chatter about everything else. Then when specifics are offered about the very thing requested, there is silence.

How different from the days when the Bereans searched the Scriptures to see if those things that they heard were true. Even the early Advents spent all night studying the Bible to understand difficult points.

But on the eve of Christ's Advent when we need to know the things that are upon us and that are about to assail us, were is our perseverance to search for and understand Present Truth?

Tomorrow, the weather clears and I go back to work, so I won't be available to study with you then.

>>The last Edomite died sometime about 70 AD.<<

...and we know that how?

From reseaching.

What is the last mention in history of the Edomites? Do you know of any after the Jewish Wars?

The wikipedia:

Quote:
Antipater the Idumaean, the progenitor of the Herodian Dynasty that ruled Judea after the Roman conquest, was of Edomite origin. Under Herod the Great Idumaea was ruled for him by a series of governors, among whom were his brother Joseph ben Antipater and his brother-in-law Costobarus. Immediately before the siege of Jerusalem by Titus, 20,000 Idumaeans, under the leadership of John, Simeon, Phinehas, and Jacob, appeared before Jerusalem to fight on behalf of the Zealots who were besieged in the Temple.[34] See Zealot Temple Siege for more information. After the Jewish Wars the Idumaean people are no longer mentioned in history, though the geographical region of "Idumea" is still referred to at the time of St. Jerome.

Let me know if you have any documented evidence that this is in error.

John 3:16-17

Isaiah 13:19-20

(19) And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

(20) It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

Saddam Hussian new this prophecy and tried to build Babylon again to prove the Bible wrong but, once again this proves:-

2 Peter 1:19

(19) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Galatians 3:29

(29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

"And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

Mark 13:2

A quite remarkable prophecy that was literally fulfilled and with great effort by the Romans, even utilizing Jews as slaves, to do so.
