bonnie Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 UPDATE: Obama Says He Is "Proud" Of Hoffa After Union Leader's Remarks What a Guy. I think someone should explain to the "smartest" man to occupy the White House what the word "civility" means Posted on September 5, 2011 Hoffa Threatens GOP Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa had some profane, combative words for Republicans while warming up the crowd for President Obama in Detroit, Michigan on Monday. "We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They've got a war, they got a war with us and there's only going to be one winner. It's going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We're going to win that war," Jimmy Hoffa said to a heavily union crowd. "President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these s#% of b&^%*^&* out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added. Obama addressed the crowd shortly after Hoffa. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Members phkrause Posted September 6, 2011 Members Posted September 6, 2011 I don't believe it was shortly, it was at least an hour if I'm not mistaken. But that's not the point. I do not care for that kind of talk. Obama did have the opportunity to address those comments and apologies but didn't. If the idiot Hoffa had spoken before the other presidential candidates they also would've not said anything against him. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

He is the one that was advocating civility. I don't recall ever hearing anything like this from republicans and I don't think democrats in the past have either. I don't believe anyone from the republican side has said Democrats can go straight to H*%^ either Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Dr. Shane Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I am glad this is getting a lot of media attention. Union members have been known to carry out a lot of acts of violence. Hopefully all this press coverage can prevent that. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Members phkrause Posted September 6, 2011 Members Posted September 6, 2011 I believe they would have. I disagree, but I agree that political candidates themselves have never said that, and I also found out that it was about 20 minutes later and not an hour or so like I mentioned. Dr. Shane Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Lol, now you're getting hysterical. Not at all. When I was a kid my dad crossed the picket lines to work at a meat packing plant and had to move us a couple of hours away because the union members were burning down the homes of those crossing the picket lines. Yesterday on one of the talk-radio shows a lady called in that said her car got keyed because she had Tea Party bumper stickers on it. Hoffa calling for war on the Tea Party is a call for violence. Don't take that lightly or make jokes about it. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Dr. Shane Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I wouldn't have used the SOB phrase but war is good! I am going to grant you the benefit of the doubt in that you do not understand the history of union violence in this country. Dr. Shane Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 One should understand what the Tea Party is. TEA is an acronym for Taxed - Enough - Already. The thrust of the Tea Party is to reduce government spending. Union leaders don't like it because reducing government spending impacts compensation packages for government workers and most government workers are unionized. The Tea Party is not concerned with unions in the private sector unless the unions are causing private sector companies (like General Motors and Chrysler) to get government bail-outs. Interesting thought Lazarus, since all want him to get tougher. But I do agree with Shane. My brother-in-law owned a construction company outside of the Boston area. He won a contract inside the Boston area, he got all his tires on his equipment slashed and tools stolen, etc. He needed to have police protection 24 hrs a day until he finished the job. Which cost him plenty. There are certain unions you don't mess with. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Dr. Shane Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 It was not a call to violence. It's the usual red team / blue team hype. Given the Hoffa family's past connection with the mofia and the violent history of union workers, it is rather naive to write this off as political posturing. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Shane, you mean to tell me that the Union workers of your father's years are the same as the ones currently in the union? Can you tell me of SEVERAL large Union protest that turned violent in the last 25 years? You implicate the whole Hoffa family as being connected to the Mafioso....Wife, children of Jimmy Hoffa who fell into disrepute with the mafia and was never seen again...? Can you give evidence that is more than mear allegations? You are fond of insisting that a man is innocent till PROVEN guilty....I suspect that that is still true...right? So why are you throwing implications at the son of Hoffa? Is he innocent or not? Where is YOUR proof? You think that Unions are still controled by the mofioso? And Your evidence that these last 25 years show a lot of corruption is what? And I am not allowing what EGW says about Unions.....I want evidence of YOUR allegations.... And Lazarus, you do have to admit, it was a call to tough arms...not necessarily to violence, I will agree, but rather to take on the TEA Party...War, whether figurative or physcial is still pretty messy, don'cha think? The TEA Party, who come to rallys with guns strapped to thier hips, and signs that say "You can take my gun from me when you can pry it from my cold dead hands."...Yea, I've seen them and so have the rest of you...all of you...Let's give credit where credit is due....The TEA party has been rather threatening these last 3 years...and granted, not quite as threatening this last year....But still pretty violently vocal, with Palen and her "I didn't quit. I'm reloading." Then there is Dick Army and the Kohen [sp] brothers support for violent vocal protests.... So, Dems have been rather nice these last 3 years, and not so violently vocal...and when ONE democratic leader starts with the violent vocals, the TEA radicals play the "You're violent" card... The hypocracy knows no bounds.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Dr. Shane Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 You think that Unions are still controled by the mofioso? And Your evidence that these last 25 years show a lot of corruption is what? I built a project a few years ago with an architect from Arizona. He told me that a short time before that he was building a project in New Jersey. While reviewing the general contractor's pay application, he discovered the plumbing contractor was over-billing so he cut the plumber's draw. A couple of weeks later when he was doing an on-site inspection, a limousine pulled up and a fine-dressed man in a three-piece suit got out and asked the architect if he was the project architect. When the architect told him he was. The finely dressed many told him that he was the plumber and if his draw were to get cut again, it would be the last draw that architect would ever cut. The architect told me that he never questioned another draw on the plumbing for the rest of the project. President Obama should tell Hoffa to apologize for the remark. It was way over the line.
