Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted September 18, 2011 Administrators Posted September 18, 2011 Oh that liberal media bias... Wait a minute!?!? They can't do that! That is supposed to be FoxNews being critical of all things liberal sing the rpaises of all things conservative. And the lamestream media is supposed to blindly spin all things liberal as flawless nirvana and trash only conservative stuff. That is how it's supposed to work in this new era of ethically impaired media, isn't it? Isn't the media supposed to be the propaganda tool of one side or the other? Isn't that the present era's sense journalistic integrity? Being unabashedly, unflinchingly and unfailingly loyal to the puppet masters at the expense of truthiness? By the way, John Stewart is hilarious! He is the court jester of our time... Truth spoken through humor... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." Cant you argue without rancor thier positions without you "Killing the messenger"...? You don't deal with facts, or messengers very well, do you? bonnie Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I don't think Jesus ever met anyone where they were at thinking profanity, obscenities etc were hilarious and obviously enjoyed their sins. Between the ages of 5-7 we lived by a very busy railroad track. My mother fed hundreds of hobo's in that time of homeless, dirty, uneducated, hungry men.She had three requirements,no profanity,no alcohol,no fighting on the premises. She was protecting her home enviornment and doing what Jesus would do, without enjoying the profane and obscene.Even these uneducated, dirty men respected her for it. She was known as "that mighty fine lady by the tracks that knew how to make hobo stew".She always tried to send them off with sandwichs for their next meal. My dad had been a hobo himself during the 20's and taught her how to make it with a little added.Word spread like crazy. She met them where they were at without thinking crude behaviour was hilarious. During my teens years it was not uncommon to come home from work or a date late at night and step over strangers sleeping on the living room floor.Same requirements and no one said,"You have to come down to where I am and enjoy it". My parents example has continued with my siblings and I. I have never felt the need to enjoy and find hilarious, crude, profane or obscene talk or behaviour. As far as I am concerned Christ set a different example. I think I will stick with that rather than the "gospel of hamilton beach" Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman

I thought perhaps the "matrix" reference might be a clue. If you care to know - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redpill Regarding profanity - if it's not one thing it's another. I have noticed that those who are always disagreeable and critical, always looking for the bad or the wrong will always find what they are always looking for. They see only what their mind wants to focus on, filtering out everything but the bad. Then there are those that can filter out the bad and see the good, because that is what they are looking for. Guest Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Oh that liberal media bias... Wait a minute!?!? They can't do that! It's not like they're trying to destroy the guy, like they do us. They are merely reporting in a gentle sort of way, some facts that can't be ignored thanks to alternative media outlets now. They're actually trying to help him. Quote

Dr. Shane Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Sorry if the blue pill reference was too obscure for you... I thought perhaps the "matrix" reference might be a clue. I am familiar with the red pill and blue pill analogy only from it being used by other people. I have never seen the Matrix movie. I am not sure what it is rated but my family tries to avoid movies with an "R" rating and rarely go to those rated "PG-13". Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... bonnie Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 If you go back to the first few posts on this topic what was being enjoyed was the profane humor. Quote: By the way, John Stewart is hilarious! He is the court jester of our time... Truth spoken through humor... Any "sound arguments" seem secondary to watching a foul mouthed comic. If someone has to watch this and sift thru the garbage to find the "truth" sprinkled in between, someone is pretty hard up . Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Dr. Shane Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 If someone has to watch this and sift thru the garbage to find the "truth" sprinkled in between, someone is pretty hard up . John Stewart is a vulgar, liberal comedian. I don't think anyone would deny that. The point is well taken that he shouldn't be used to advance liberal arguments. Other liberals much smarter than John Stewart make more compelling arguments to advance their ideology. I think the reason those scholars are not quoted often is because they are dry and boring. People would evaluate their ideas based on merit alone. John Stewart tends to be more convincing because he causes people to laugh - not because he advances a more thought-out argument.
