Reprograming the mind, part deux

The other day on the way to church a thought came to me.

I was wondering why I so much more enjoy a sermon from Scripture than from what a popular author has written.

Then I thought, Man writes from the heart. But the Bible tells us that the heart is deceitful above all things (which fits into your statement about self-deception). God is able to transcend the best we can come up with.

I think that is why Scripture burns in my heart like Jesus' words did with the believers on the way to Emmaus. It just does.

Love your post, Tom! And I, too, agree about the honesty.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Well, there is many explanations and here is one,

Forgivenes is not requiring the debt be paid,

Repentance is an about turn from the old way and true sorrow for it.

Both are of True Love.

Great thought here re the road to Emmaus. That passage has very special meaning to me. I am in process of writing a poem about it.

I believe that the scriptures have the power - (God's power) to reprogram just where we may need it the most.

"People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)

"I cannot know why suddenly the storm

should rage so fiercely round me in it's wrath

But this I know: God watches all my path

And I can trust"

"God helps us to draw strength from the storm" - Overaged

Faith makes things possible; it does not make them easy, Steps To Christ

I look forward to reading the poem OA. I do agree with you about scripture being able to reprogram us, but we need to allow the HS to work in us. And it seems to me he has worked well in you.
