I believe this recession began in '06-'07 not just in '09 like many would have us believe. The company I worked for was laying people off left and right starting, as I mentioned, in '06-'08. Many companies actually were laying people off between those years. Not sure about the rest of the country. But when I got laid off and went to the unemployment office in Feb of '08, the place was already packed. When I went to get my 401k and retirement funds from the company after being laid off, it was already depleaded by nearly $15,000 and that was in '08. And to add to your second statement, I'd say none. All they want to do his play the blame game, because if they actually told the truth, they are all afraid no one would vote for them, that includes Democrats, wouldn't want anyone to think I'm for one party or the other. I'm not, can't stand either. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Dr. Shane Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 The recession started in December of 2007. Of course the economy had been slowing down before that but we never had a "boom" economy since the tech bubble burst and 9/11 followed. The corruption I am talking about is the corruption between the financial industry and Congress. I think Herman Cain and Ron Paul would both be willing to point that out and talk about it. But all those black folks in the South that gained their civil rights didn't gain salvation as a result. Are you saying he shouldn't have bothered then? I'm not sure what your point is. Politicians on both sides have been unwilling to talk about the true nature of the current financial crisis. Many are simply repeating the mainstream explanations of why we are where we are. The suggestion that it's simply congresses fault is an explanation the bankers would like. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities.
