I'm not talking about the leaders of the church, Club, I'm talking about the members. Many were very new to the church.

Does that mean all our posts on Club Adventist will be "sanctified" in a hundred years?

Ah, I see what you mean phk, yeah, no doubt Kellogg's book would have been a complete disaster for the average church member at that time. Especially in view of the education level of folks in the early 1900's.

...wait, does more edumakted make your more smarter? Maybe not...

So without knowing anything about someone except that they are not an Adventist, you can claim to be more wise than they are because they don't believe all of the things that you do?

You believe in the Sabbath and three angels and they don't; what about the more important things, like justice, mercy, and faith? How do you know that there's nothing you might be able to learn from them about those?

I listen to non adventist preachers on radio & television all the time. I know them well enough. Some of what they say is good, but some is not worth paying attention to.

I wasn't born sda. I went to sunday churches. When I heard the truth of the sabbath I understood it. It's not that hard.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.

I need to emphasize that again: I've listened to non adventist preachers quite a bit. You almost can't help it. They are all over the air waves. I was listening to J Vernon McGee Sunday, as I drove around. He was talking about the book of Mark. I mentioned it in my blog, how I liked it, well before I first posted on this thread. I sometimes listen to TD jakes. He's on tv 3 to 5 times a day. Some of it is alright, some of it, I screen out.

It is much easier to hear a non adventist than it is to hear an adventist preacher. When it comes to church or some other sda convocation I would much rather hear someone who is familiar with this message. That's why I joined this church. I wanted to hear this message, because I couldn't hear it anywhere else.

p.s. yes, I am aware that J Vernon McGee was laid to rest some years ago.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.

As it concerns Kelloggs book, it was, is and remains a very dangerous book to this day. ....

Ellen White HERSELF did not at first discern the danger the book posed. It was revealed to her!! A.T. Jones not only recommended it, he LEFT the church to follow Kellogg! All the great leaders of that time recommended. These were solid men, not at all weak in the faith. They were decieved by it subtle content of error...

Ellen White saw the error in the book, and she was hoping that she wouldn't have to say anything because she expected other church members to see the error and reject it. Instead, most people were accepting it and claiming that Ellen White believed the same way. She was dismayed to hear this, which is why she wrote testimonies against it.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

J Vernon McGee, his recorded messages are still on radio of course. I really enjoy listening to him when I get the chance. I recently caught one of his sermons on the bells and promegranites the priests wore in the sanctuary. I thought it was really well done.

Through the Bible Radio. Great preacher but he did get things wrong sometimes, such as the Sabbath, etc.

He also wrote some pretty good commentaries on the Bible. Interestingly, he says that the Sabbath was kept between Creation and the Exodus, which is true, but then he claims Christians don't need to keep it.

There's no doubt that many of the Christian speakers on radio and TV have many good things to say. After all, they're talking about the teachings of the Bible. But we need to realize, too, that they are very confused on some important issues, such as the Three Angels Messages, the relationship between the law and the gospel, the state of the dead, and the Sabbath.

That's why I have never heard of an Adventist entity or Pastor invite non-SDA's to speak of those kind of issues. We mostly invite people to speak on areas of agreement. That's a good thing.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Good point. I once taught a short series on how to study the Bible; and as a part of that weekend long seminar; on the Sunday, I invited a very conservative Mennonite preacher over to do the 2 hour afternoon session. He had just finished memorizing the entire book of Mark; and what he did was to recite it.

I am afraid I made some enemies over it all tho. After Pastor L had finished the last verse in Mark, (and I followed with my Bible, he never missed a dotting of the i) I took a few minutes to try explaining how the Holy Spirit is instrumental in Bible study, and pointed to Pastor L as an example.

And that's all it took to make enemies in my own church.

Hmmm; I wonder what's non-Adventist in the Book of Mark.
