I especially liked that one. phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Overaged Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Thats my favorite one too! "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." jandieB Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Noah's Ark is a good story. It would make everyone think that it would happen soon if people will continue to destroy our nature and do bad things.
olger Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Ark good. Nature fine. "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Guest Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Ark good.Nature fine. I agree. Living in the time of the end, when knowledge is greatly increased, does not destroy the planet. God has said in his word over and over, that HE is the one who is going to destroy this planet....with fire. So worship God, and not the planet.
Overaged Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 There won't be much left for God to "destroy." mankind is doing a pretty good job of it. Guest Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 There won't be much left for God to "destroy." mankind is doing a pretty good job of it. Don't believe everything you read or hear in the mainstream media. There is a very dark agenda behind environmentalism. And it is not based on entirely true facts. It is a religion, just like evolution, based mainly on junk science, and outright lies. And that's all I'm going to say about it.

Those are some pretty serious charges. "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Overaged Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Id be interested to see your evidence if you start the topic. "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Moderators Gerr Posted November 5, 2011 Moderators Posted November 5, 2011 Are you dismissing the environmentalists' concern about the planet, Richard? You won't want to breathe the air in Beijing or Mexico City. Have you tried swimming in some rive near a pig farm in NC? Many people in the world do not have access to unpolluted fresh water. Many fish of the sea are becoming dangerously high in mercury. You don't believe that huge garbage patch in the Pacific that's half the size of the USA? You don't believe the plastic nurdles that has polluted much of the waters of the world? I'm shocked! The heathen were filled with rage, because the time for your anger has come, the time for the dead to be judged. The time has come to reward your servants, the prophets, and all your people, all who have reverence for you, great and small alike. The time has come to destroy those who destroy the earth!” American Bible Society. (1992). The Holy Bible : The Good news Translation (2nd ed.) (Re 11:18). New York: American Bible Society.
Guest Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I am not dismissing those things in particular. I was referring more to "climate change". And there are more ways to destroy the earth besides just polluting the environment. Perhaps I will start a thread in the political section, but not today.
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 5, 2011 Administrators Posted November 5, 2011 You need to catch up with the news on that front. Skeptic's own study finds climate change real "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Guest Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Sorry, but I don't believe that one article about one skeptic who changed sides, IS "the news". I don't disagree that the temperatures have gotten 1.6 degrees warmer than in the 1950s. I just disagree with how the mainstream scientists that propagate this stuff interpret that, and what they say that means.
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 5, 2011 Administrators Posted November 5, 2011 It is really not just merely one article about one skeptic. To describe the overwhelming majority of scientist as "mainstream" is really a compliment though you intended otherwise. The outliers (non-mainstream scientists) really have little to do with genuine science. "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Guest Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Yes...and the majority was right in Noah's day too, right? But it's really more political than it is scientific. It is driven by a certain political ideology, and scientist aren't stupid, the vast majority of them would rather go where the money is, as opposed to being shunned by the scientific community. They know that anytime they can come up with something that seems to help that particular agenda/ideology, they are showered with money. Remember the old saying: Follow the money?
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 5, 2011 Administrators Posted November 5, 2011 Few scientists are motivated by money to pursue their research. And I would say that climatologist even less so. (In 2008 the mean hourly wage of an atmospheric scientist was $39.46, and the mean annual wage was $38,990.) It is the political overlords driven by the real monied special interest groups that would have you believe otherwise. And that is following the money right to the pocket of those who stand to lose the most of it if anything is to be done to solve and fix the causes of climate change. "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. jasd Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 QR frame: I think that there is sufficient evidence to forward the case that climate change is occurring; however, lest we overindulge with our mea culpas – let’s ask, “Why are we seeing evidence of climate change simultaneously occurring on the other planets of the system?” Surely, no one is suggesting that our SUVs, thermostats, air biscuits from our meat sources, etc – is the cause for climate change on our neighbouring planets. Non, non, it is larger – and we don’t know the cause or the reason. The rover that was sent to Mars emitted no CO2. Totally green. Yet, we’re photographing newly formed oceans/lakes with floating icebergs in them. Wha’sup with that? Okay, sure, man is sometimes a burden and pestilence upon earth’s resources. That, however, is not the problem – it’s waayyy larger – and judging from the skyrocketing cost of grains worldwide – ummm, scary. It is other than the hand of man that is causing global warming. Mebbe, rather than gathering planks, nails, and pitch this time around - we might think to begin searching about for a nice cave - or start digging... as, if it's happening to the planets - it may be happening to the sun also. Whoosh! solar mass ejection? Whoa! that smarts :(

Yes, Jesus is saving the absolute final destruction for himself, however that moment will come when earth can no longer support life and if Jesus did not come, pollution and global heating would kill us. And Jesus will blame us for it as he says "I will destroy the destroyers of the earth"
Guest Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 that moment will come when earth can no longer support life and if Jesus did not come, pollution and global heating would kill us. Where is that in the Bible?
