Taking the Bible too literally

I would like to note that no one has actually addressed what the cartoon is saying.

The tactic has been to ignore the cartoon and attack atheists.

My guess is that the cartoon is too close to the truth and the only defense is to attack.

No hate, I know lots and lots of atheists and not one of them hates God. They simply do not believe he exists because there is nothing but one book proclaiming that he does.

Why is that so hard to understand?

Do atheists love that one book? If that one book is truthful about His existence and everything else concerning the nature of humanity, then why blow it off as an unreliable witness to God's existence? Why claim that there is no evidence of God's existence when the "only" book(not withstanding the other sacred writings that also proclaim God's existence) gives a plethora of historical facts to verify the claim? If, in fact, that one Book is true then It clarifies that the atheist chooses to be an atheist despite the evidence not because of the lack thereof, and that the atheist demonstrates their hatred of God by openly rejecting that evidence. The Bible calles Itself the Word of God.Do most atheists love or hate the Bible?

As much as I think this is going to be a waste of energy I am gonna give this a shot.

No atheist I know hates the Bible. They just do not accept it as being anything more than the myths and legends and some history of the Hebrew people.

What about those atheists that you don't know, like the millions who dictate the imprisonment of those who openly believe the Bible and espouse it's teaching? What kind of apathy did Marx demonstrate in response to the opiate of the people? Why do officially athiest governments criminalize Bible posession and ban evangelism and other religious activities? Perhaps you don't know Bill Maher personally but surely he fits your definition of one who doesn't believe in a Divine? Non-antagonistic towards the Bible and those who believe in it? The history of the modern ages is filled with atheists who warred against the Bible specifically because they believed that it was a detriment to society and set about to exterminate it's influence. "He that is not for Me is against me." Hard for me to not call that hatred.Anyone who believes that the Bible is merely a bunch of fables that twist an ignorant and gullible society to respond in a bunch of destructive and unethical ways and doesn't hate doesn't care very much for the welfare of those they live among.Like saying that heroine is really bad for you but then to each his own.

I can only speak of the atheists I know of Doug.

Like I said. There are hateful people that do hateful things. On both sides of the coin.

Shall we discuss the millions of Muslims, Celts, Germans and Nordic people the Christians killed in the Crusades? All because they did not want to worship your God?

Of course not. Because it is clear that hateful people do hateful things. That simple.

You can find them in every group of people.

You can find them in every group of people.

Not true. You will never find a hateful person among the faithful followers of Jesus or the Bible. The Bible condemns hate against anything but sin, and since there are only two sides of any coin, there are only two groups of people in this world;true followers of Christ and non-followers of Christ. Therefore only one side of that coin can hate, no matter what they call themselves.

Maybe you are the hater because you follow this text...

I speak against your idea of god and you follow the Bible. It stands to reason that you are the hater here because you hate me for speaking wickedly against your god.

There a lot more hate where that came from.

What I see is a lot of redefining atheists as haters without any evidence and a lot of misrepresentation.

We don't hate you, we just don't respect you because you lie about us.

Doug could have chosen to reference Romans 3 regarding the sinful nature in his post - possibly with the same result.
