Q.E.D. Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Neither A. or B. All of the below are necessary for forgiveness of sin and salvation. C. The Everlasting Gospel l. "Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."(Rev 14:7) 2. "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."(Rev 14:12) 3."I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird." "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Rev. 18:1, 2, 4.) Summation of the above. Only those that have worshiped the One and Only True God, the Creator of heaven and earth, will be saved. Only those that have kept the commandments of God by confession and repetance of sin and have experienced salvation in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit will be saved. Only those that have heeded the call of God "to come out of Babylon" will be saved. Quote Satanic Verses-Salman Rushdie.
Q.E.D. Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 It's Coming! "Thus the message of the third angel will be proclaimed. As the time comes for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work through humble instruments, leading the minds of those who consecrate themselves to His service. The laborers will be qualified rather by the unction of His Spirit than by the training of literary institutions. Men of faith and prayer will be constrained to go forth with holy zeal, declaring the words which God gives them. The sins of Babylon will be laid open. The fearful results of enforcing the observances of the church by civil authority, the inroads of spiritualism, the stealthy but rapid progress of the papal power–all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands will listen who have never heard words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from heaven. As the people go to their former teachers with the eager inquiry, Are these things so? the ministers present fables, prophesy smooth things, to soothe their fears and quiet the awakened conscience. But since many refuse to be satisfied with the mere authority of men and demand a plain "Thus saith the Lord," the popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old, filled with anger as their authority is questioned, will denounce the message as of Satan and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and persecute those who proclaim it. As the controversy extends into new fields and the minds of the people are called to God's downtrodden law, Satan is astir. The power attending the message will only madden those who oppose it. The clergy will put forth almost superhuman efforts to shut away the light lest it should shine upon their flocks. By every means at their command they will endeavor to suppress the discussion of these vital questions. The church appeals to the strong arm of civil power, and, in this work, papists and Protestants unite. As the movement for Sunday enforcement becomes more bold and decided, the law will be invoked against commandment keepers. They will be threatened with fines and imprisonment, and some will be offered positions of influence, and other rewards and advantages, as inducements to renounce their faith. But their steadfast answer is: "Show us from the word of God our error"–the same plea that was made by Luther under similar circumstances. Those who are arraigned before the courts make a strong vindication of the truth, and some who hear them are led to take their stand to keep all the commandments of God. Thus light will be brought before thousands who otherwise would know nothing of these truths. Conscientious obedience to the word of God will be treated as rebellion. Blinded by Satan, the parent will exercise harshness and severity toward the believing child; the master or mistress will oppress the commandment-keeping servant. Affection will be alienated; children will be disinherited and driven from home. The words of Paul will be literally fulfilled: "All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." 2 Tim. 3:12. As the defenders of truth refuse to honor the Sunday-sabbath, some of them will be thrust into prison, some will be exiled, some will be treated as slaves. To human wisdom all this now seems impossible; but as the restraining Spirit of God shall be withdrawn from men, and they shall be under the control of Satan, who hates the divine precepts, there will be strange developments. The heart can be very cruel when God's fear and love are removed." (GC11, 606-608) Quote Satanic Verses-Salman Rushdie.

Gibs Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Samie, I can't agree that either scenario you posted is the True Gospel. Here is a little start without any explanation of mine. Ac 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Ac 2:37 ¶ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Ac 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Ac 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Ac 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Then Paul rightly tells us, Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Samie Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Hi Samie, "9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."(1 John 1:9) Confession of sin is required before forgiveness of sin. Q,E.D. With all due respect, the verse does not explicitly say confession is required although in your view it appears to be so. But Scriptures cannot contradict itself. 1. The prophet Isaiah in chapter 59 records that sin separates man from God causing God not to listen to man: Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. So if sin cannot be forgiven unless confessed, as you said, then man has to confess his sin and God hearing man's confession, forgives the sin. But this goes against the verse above where God refuses to listen to sinful man. 2. The Bible says sinful man cannot do anything good: Jeremiah 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. Obviously, confession is good. But unless forgiven man is sinful and therefore cannot do anything good like confessing his sin. 3. The Bible also says sinful man is dead, spiritually dead: KJV Ephesians 2:1,4,5 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins... 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) If man is spiritually dead, how can he do any spiritual act like confession? As it is impossible for the physically dead to do any physical act, in like manner, the spiritually dead cannot do anything spiritual. The fact that man can now do spiritual acts like confessing is proof enough he had been made spiritually alive! How? The Bible answers: Colossians 2:13-14 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 1 Peter 2:24 Who [Jesus] his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. The verses above say it was through the death of Christ that we were forgiven and made spiritually alive! Forgiveness of sin is solely by the grace of God revealed through Christ and not through any act of man like confession. Man has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with his being forgiven from sin. Quote

Hi Gibs; I understand and respect your view. It really appeared from what Peter hath uttered in the above quoted verses that repentance and baptism are prerequisites to being forgiven (remission of sins). This is why he considers the unbaptized as unforgiven sinners, unclean in God's sight. But I think you need to also take into consideration that Peter needed to be taught by the Lord again. This occurred just prior to his encounter with Cornelius via a vision of unclean animals. Notice what he learned from this vision as he confided in Cornelius presence: Acts 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. As the animals in his vision which he considered unclean were all clean being God-cleansed, in like manner, those he considered unclean yet being unbaptized, like Cornelius, he was forbidden to consider as unclean having been cleansed by God through Christ as well. I think the text falls way short of saying all that. That's quite a leap. What he's saying is that the Gentiles who accepted Christ, were just as clean as the Jews who accepted Christ, and not to be prejudiced against them as before. What it does NOT say, is that everyone was cleansed without even making a choice. Which is what you seem to be saying. A choice HAS to be made. Otherwise we are all just programmed robots. God doesn't force anyone to love Him, or serve Him. Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. As it is impossible for the physically dead to do any physical act, in like manner, the spiritually dead cannot do anything spiritual. The fact that man can now do spiritual acts like confessing is proof enough he had been made spiritually alive! So therein lies your answer, when God calls man to confess and repent it is because He has provided the spiritual life to perform it. If man does not confess it is not because man cannot because he is spiritually dead it is because he refuses to consider himself alive to Christ. Therefore we must conclude that confession is a necessary part of man's response to being spiritually alive. And that he is capable of and will be held responsible for any refusal to reject confession.True? Mt 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: Lu 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. All men are sinners so the next verse is applicable to all. Are you claiming that the forgiveness of sins is imparted to all men without condition? It had been preached for too long that many had assumed man had to ask forgiveness before he can be forgiven. The Bible does not teach that. I had shown from the Bible in post #507888 in page 1 of this thread that unless forgiven, man is spiritually dead. In fact the Lord himself had said: KJV John 6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Obviously, the world is lifeless otherwise Christ would not have given it life. How can the dead confess or repent? Confession, repentance, etc. are needed, YES, but not for forgiveness. The Bible is very clear it was the death of Christ that brought forgiveness to ALL. NASB Colossians 2:13-14 13 And when you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. The above verses tell us that having been forgiven, we were made spiritually alive and, thenceforth, being alive, capable of doing all spiritual acts like believing, repenting, deciding to be baptized, etc. Forgiveness is God's work FOR man, for all descendants of Adam & Eve, no one left out. Confession, repentance, etc. is man's positive response to God's work IN man, having been enabled by God's grace through His Son. These acts do not, in fact, can not precede forgiveness; they come after forgiveness. Such is the depth of the marvelous love and peace of God that passeth all understanding. This is pure gospel. Sorry, but not true. This is because you fail to expound on what Scriptures say as to how man was made spiritually alive. As I had discussed in an earlier post, the Bible says God made us spiritually alive after forgiving us all sin. From the verses above, the Biblical order of events is forgiveness, then man being made spiritually alive, after which he can confess. NOT spiritually alive first, then confession followed by forgiveness. Scriptures have spoken. Let's try to hear its words. Quote
Guest Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 It had been preached for too long that many had assumed man had to ask forgiveness before he can be forgiven. The Bible does not teach that. There is simply to much overwhelming evidence to the contrary in scripture, for you to be able to make that statement. You are taking things out of context, and making applications of it where scripture doesn't actually suggest, when you look at the whole picture. Look up every text that has anything to do with the topic, instead of just the few that seem to back up your theory by themselves. That way you can see the whole picture, and by God's grace get a correct view. Here are just a few for your consideration, but you should look them all up. 2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Eze 33:18,19 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby. 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Will all come to repentance? No. Even though it is God's will, according to this text. Quote

True indeed, "Repentance is a first and must" for inheriting life eternal, NOT for forgiveness. Forgiveness is God's work FOR man, all grace, not a single iota of human work needed. Ephesians 2:4-5 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) KJV Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. Repentance is man's work, a positive response to God's work IN man. Repentance is turning away from sin; it is the essence of overcoming. Only overcomers will not be blotted out of the book of life (Rev 3:5), and therefore will inherit life eternal. (See the OP.) Overcoming is only possible after man had been made spiritually alive after having been forgiven from sin. If a person did not overcome, it is not a question of INCAPABILITY to overcome, rather it is REFUSAL to overcome. Quote

miz3 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I started an identical thread in another forum. Since this is Adventist forum, I am posting the OP here. The difference between the "adulterated gospel" and the "pure gospel": A. Adulterated Gospel: 1. (a) Only believers in Christ were saved from sin. ( Only believers who asks forgiveness for current sins committed may be forgiven. © Only those who qualified in 1 (a) & 1 ( will inherit life eternal 2. (a) Only believers in Christ were saved from sin. ( All saved from sin will inherit life eternal. B. The "Pure Gospel": 1. All of Adam & Eve's descendants were saved from sin and forgiven of all sins. 2. Sins currently committed are not imputed against man, since these had been forgiven on the cross. 3. Only those who in their lifetime have overcome evil with good will inherit life eternal when Christ comes again. 4. All others will have their names blotted out of the book of life and thrown into the lake of fire. Which Gospel do you now believe and teach? In Christ the Focus of the Pure Gospel, Samie Correct answer is NEITHER OF THE ABOVE. The Pure Gospel is: 1. According to Romans chapter five ALL HUMANS WHO WILL EXIST HAVE BEEN SAVED. This is done by God apart from anything any human did and/or did not do. All human sins have been forever forgiven by Jesus Christ on the Cross. 2. God sends the Holy Spirit into the human entity to change that entity to no longer be slaves to sin but rather slaves to the Holy Spirit. This according to Romans chapters seven and eight. 3 According to Hebrews 2:3 the only way a human entity is NOT SAVED is if the human entity REJECTS GOD'S GIFT OF SALVATION. Those who advocate some kind of choice and/or having faith, etc. before "forgiveness can be attained" by the human entity are advocating a WORKS RELIGION. Such "requirements" are no different than the pagan religions, the RCC, and other worldview philosophies. It is WORKS SALVATION plain and simple. The human entity must do something or God will not forgive and will not save. SDA/SDA Church .org criticizes the RCC and others for being "WORKS" when all time they themselves are as WORKS oriented as any religion can be. In doing this they think they are protecting the Law of God. However, it is not their duty to protect the Law of God. That is God's job not any human's job. God's Law is just fine without any interference from the SDA Church .org and/or any other entity. Such "works" requirements are not Biblical. 4. Not everyone who is saved will have overcome every sin in their life. This is why Gospels A & B above are wrong. The thief on the Cross was "saved by Jesus Christ" even though he never overcame even one sin/evil in his life. The thief on the Cross never got to do even one good deed of righteousness either. Yet Jesus Christ Himself testified that this thief on the Cross was among the saved. His name is in the Book of Life. 5. No works of any kind are ever required for Salvation and are not necessary for a human entity to be in Heaven. 6. There is only one Standard and that is found in Matthew chapter seven and Matthew chapter twenty-five for entrance. It says, "only those who Jesus Christ "KNOWS" will enter Heaven. It also says that those who Jesus Christ "does NOT KNOW" will be shut from Heaven and will burn in Hell. The only relevant question is, "Does Jesus Christ KNOW you?". Jesus Christ KNEW the thief on the Cross and that is why he is saved. Quote
Samie Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 I started an identical thread in another forum. In Christ the Focus of the Pure Gospel, Samie Quote
