Amen Shane, tell it like it is. You have hit the nail squarely upon it's head, so to speak. This time.

Really, there is no need to stereotype everyone that disagrees with us. Simply stick to the merits of the argument. We shouldn't need to create villains in order to convince others of our view.

Not so fast Shane. So we move from denying the southern strategy now saying that there has been an apology. The GOP still has a problem since so many republicans are making these remarks. A man can apologize all he wants but if he's beating the woman it's still called abuse.

I am getting the idea that there are Black Americans so paranoid about a southern strategy that they feel it is acceptable to stereotype an entire class of people in exactly the same way they insist others should not stereotype them.

Still doing it. Arguing against something that has not been said. They are not paranoid they simply simply see the evidence. As someone who is not African-American and sees things from an outside perspective they have been remarkably forgiving and rational on these issues.

I did not deny the southern strategy. The point I made was that Blacks switched to voting Democrat during the FDR Administration. The Southern Strategy, to the extent it did exist, is long over. It is by no means accepted that the reasons Republicans gained power in the South was because of it. Nor that it was a strategy embraced by all Republicans in the South. The motive behind the strategy was the fact that Blacks voted so strongly Democrat already that Republicans had little hope of getting much of the Black vote. So it cannot be said that Blacks vote Democrat because of the Southern Strategy as has been said or insinuated here.

Racism does still exist in the Republican Party, just as it still exists in the Democratic Party and among independents. Certainly it does not exist to the degree it once did. We have elected a black President, had two black Secretaries of State, a black Attorney General and a black Supreme Court Justice.

Top black republicans have indicated that their party has a problem with race. To simply brush it off a denial of reality.

And top Hispanic Democrats have admitted there are racists in their party.

The point is???

Five racists in a group of 500 people can cause a problem. That doesn't mean the whole groups should be called racist.
