Gibs Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 In the beginning when Christ Jesus set up His Church they did not go out until they received the Holy Spiirt, Baptised of the Holy Spirit. A T Jones wrote a good piece on that but here now will present what EGW gave to the people. I find this a very good little read, " In describing to His disciples the office work of the Holy Spirit, Jesus sought to inspire them with the joy and hope that inspired His own heart. He rejoiced because of the abundant help He had provided for His church. The Holy Spirit was the highest of all gifts that He could solicit from His Father for the exaltation of His people. The Spirit was to be given as a regenerating agent, and without this the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail. The power of evil had been strengthening for centuries, and the submission of men to this satanic captivity was amazing. Sin could be resisted and overcome only through the mighty agency of the Third Person of the Godhead, who would come with no modified energy, but in the fullness of divine power. It is the Spirit that makes effectual what has been wrought out by the world's Redeemer. It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given His Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress His own character upon His church. {DA 671.2} Of the Spirit Jesus said, "He shall glorify Me." The Saviour came to glorify the Father by the demonstration of His love; so the Spirit was to glorify Christ by revealing His grace to the world. The very image of God is to be reproduced in humanity. The honor of God, the honor of Christ, is involved in the perfection of the character of His people. {DA 671.3} "When He [the Spirit of truth] is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." The preaching of the word will be of no avail without the continual presence and aid of the Holy Spirit. This is the only effectual teacher of divine truth. Only when the truth is accompanied to the heart by the Spirit will it quicken the conscience or transform the life. One might be able to present the letter of the word of God, he might be familiar with all its commands and promises; but unless the Holy Spirit sets home the truth, no souls will fall on the Rock and be broken. No amount of education, no advantages, however great, can make one a channel of light without the co-operation of the Spirit of God. The sowing of the gospel seed will not be a success unless the seed is quickened into life by the dew of heaven. Before one book of the New Testament was written, before one gospel sermon had been preached after Christ's ascension, the Holy Spirit came upon the praying apostles. Then the testimony of their enemies was, "Ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine." Acts 5:28. {DA 671.4} This Holy Spirit's indwelling is a must for all who would be His. Paul knew the Gentiles needed to understand it and He started out with, Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: And this is also termed "Divine Nature" and unless we have it or His indwelling we are nothing as EGW brings out, powerless and can never be the overcomer that we must be over all besetments we have or would fall into. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Woody Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I've never come across any preaching in the SDA church that wasn't of the Holy Spirit. Can you give us an example of one? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Gibs Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Woody, I have for me from my see but this question you ask must be answered by each one to test the speaker for truth. We see this all the time on this forum where different ones don't agree with a message presented. One I've noticed is the critique of W. Veith and I find him pretty well on but not fully in all as I am not a historical believer. That is truly liberal to see all in the SDA church are ordained of the Holy Spirit and I cannot go that far. I like Doug Batchelor fairly well and now you can catch him on the 3abn and now it will come in on your computer. I know some there would be of your see and probably these days lesser for me. http://3abn.org and download the player and check the skedule for whom you would hear and catch them at the time they broadcast. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Woody Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Gibs - I simply stated that I had not heard any sermons that were not of the Holy Spirit in the SDA church. Obviously - I've not heard all sermons preached in all churches. But since you are making a claim that some sermons are not of the Holy Spirit - surely you must have some evidence for your claim. Please list just one that you've heard that would bring about this voicing of your concern on this issue. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Gibs Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Woody, you surely wouldn't agree on my picks as you I notice, laid a lot critique on W. Veith so is he or is he not of the Holy Spirit and is He not in the SDA church. You've I think given your own answer. You check them out and critgue on them, do I not have the same right? And by now you know where I differ so you should see I don't see many these days that do. I suppose just pick one that has the "new age theology" of salvation and you will have one of my picks. Be liberal with me Woody, I'm liberal with you even though in "theology" I'm not. Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. We must have it. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
CoAspen Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Can you tell us what you do like about the SDA church, pastors, leaders, etc. You seem to be fixating on all of your dislikes. What has the church 'done' to you or others taht brings all this unhappiness out? Quote
Gibs Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Ah yes I can, it's the "new age salvation theology" that is preached by the most. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Patrick Lawrence Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Well I might as well jump in for a minute. What I see are some pasters being very far off and some pastors being very good. I think most would say the same. Really since pastors are preaching directly contradictory sermons both sides can't be right. As as you guys probably know I do not like the errors on either side. Neither conspiracy theories nor emerging church stuff. Quote http://UROBI.com/

CoAspen Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I was not born under a cabbage leaf! I do feel an agenda by some on these forums, but they do not admit it. They be very evasive in their answers an have difficulty 'looking' you in the eye! All of this constant 'nitpicking' around the edges serves one purpose and it ain't truth. It does however make people feel superior because they are 'bringing' the real truth and steering the people back to the truth, their own version!! What is it with all this, when we are each individually responsible to God? Why is there so much effort in tearing down others instead of lifting up? We do the work of the devil going down that path, under the guise of 'correcting error'. Would we rather be including or excluding people into the Kingdom of God? Who among us is righteous enough to make that decision? I choose to let God stay in control of the truth not humans, they have a miserable record!! Let each have the faith to trust God enough for themselves and others to find the 'truth'. Quote
Woody Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Some great points CoA. For myself - I just assume every one has accepted the gift of eternal life unless they say otherwise. And especially on this forum - I certainly have to believe that all here are saved. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Patrick Lawrence Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Woody that would be right if you replaced legalism with new theology and changed good progress to some progress. Patrick Lawrence Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 This is the BIG question in the Adventist church who really understands salvation by faith. And some how I do not think we will work it all out here. Quote http://UROBI.com/
Gibs Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 The message of righteousness progressed to many to finally what Paul brought out to the Gentiles, Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Then it was understood this is the victory that overcomes the world and Satan and his sophistries and the only way the saint can obtain the victory. We of ourselves are nothing. He came to show us the way and He first walked the walk in our shoes to show us it could be done and He in us is the answer. That is the "Divine Nature" and we are empowered then as He was. This is the plan of salvation He made for us. That is the free gift, His enabling Spirit within. We are expected to be overcomers and none has any excuse. It is a matter of surrendering all and death of self that our house is cleaned of any other master and then He comes and dwells within as we have invited Him. He is a jealous bridegroom and will not dwell within unless all masters of us is given the boot. Ro 6:1 ¶ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Ro 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 We have our will that must be exercised to do only His Will and for many that is a hard surrender as it is a surrender of self and all we are to Him. "Trust and Obey" and "I Surrender All" was the original old way and is The Way He has made. Mt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Mt 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Ro 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Ro 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Ro 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Ro 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. Ro 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. Ro 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Woody, You been giving us some you don't agree with, so aren't they not of the Holy Spirit then too? They preach error then too don't they, in your opinion. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Woody is Doug Batchelor in the church? Do you agree with him? Do you agree with Dennis Priebie? Those two see salvation about the same as I do, what is your take on them? How about Walter Veith, he also is differnt on the salvation issue than your view. I don't care to mention any, as the ones I know are local here and you wouldn't know them. I'm hearing some on 3abn I suppose are in the church in no way can I agree with, sorry. But that is my right. You know now the salvation issue is the one I see that was the first to come in that put many out and now with the latter things there is not many I could agree with. Do I have too? No of couse not. Does that guantee I'm going to hell? No of course not. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Woody Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Just because I disagree with someone Gibs - does not mean that they are not Spirit Lead. Let me just say that I disagree with you probably more than anyone on this forum - Yet, I am prepared to state that you are Spirit Lead. Does that help explain? Gibs Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Well thanks a lot Woody, I'm just as serious in my view I suppose as you are and I am well embedded in the view I hold. This is something I contend on all the forums I work on so you are not the only one that sees against what I find to be the oly way. I don't intend to try to change anyone, my job is to put out the Word and the Holy Spirit is the one who leads into all truth and that is where I must leave it. If my testimony vexes you just don't read it. I only attempt to give you an answer to your querys but you usually are not satisfied with my answer as it isn't what you want out of me. You see I can only follow Jesus Christ. You can give me council but if I don't see it it's my choice to not receive it. Yahshus/Jesus gives us both freedom to follow Him as we find the way. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
