I will Emphasize the parts that pop out at me.

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

What is the most important issue in Christianity? Is it not our Salvation?

This just popped out at me and some may not see that but that is what hit me.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Does that not say to you also, "that one must have the LOVE OF THE TRUTH" To be Saved? Why? Is it because this is where so much false doctrine is?

I am not a "legalist" or a "liberal" but one must get it right on this one, it is about eternal life, SERIOUS BUSNINESS!

A to all reply,

Jesus nailed Satan down with "it is written",

Mt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I find EGW explains the nitty gritty of the salvation issue pretty well here so it is easily understood, at least to me.

"Partakers of the divine nature." Is this possible? Of ourselves we can do no good thing. How, then, can we be partakers of the divine nature? By coming to Christ just as we are, needy, helpless, dependent. He died to make it possible for us to be partakers of the divine nature. He took humanity upon Himself that He might reach humanity. With the golden chain of His matchless love He has bound us to the throne of God. We are to have power to overcome as He overcame. {HP 59.2}

To all He gives the invitation: "Come unto me.... Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls . . ." (Matthew 11:28-30). {HP 59.3}

We have a part to act in this work. Let none think that men and women are going to be taken to heaven without engaging in the struggle here below. We have a battle to fight, a victory to gain. God says to us, "Work out your own salvation." How? "With fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:12, 13). God works, and man works.... Thus only can we be partakers of the divine nature. {HP 59.4}

Here is the consistency of true religion. We are to be "labourers together with God," working in harmony with Him. "Ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building" (1 Corinthians 3:9). This figure represents human character, which is to be wrought upon point by point. Each day God works on His building to perfect the structure, that it may become a holy temple for Him. Man is to cooperate with God, striving in His strength to make himself what God designs him to be, building his life with pure, noble deeds.... {HP 59.5}

God asks us to live only one day at a time. You need not look a week or a month ahead. Today do your best. Today speak and act in a way that will honor God. The promise is, "As thy days, so shall thy strength be" (Deuteronomy 33:25). {HP 59.6}

When we have a Real Love for the Truth it is actually to Love Him as He states,

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Gibs, you quoted:

"Partakers of the divine nature." Is this possible? Of ourselves we can do no good thing. How, then, can we be partakers of the divine nature? By coming to Christ just as we are, needy, helpless, dependent. He died to make it possible for us to be partakers of the divine nature. He took humanity upon Himself that He might reach humanity. Great quote.

"It is the PRIVILEGE of every believer in Christ TO POSSESS CHRIST'S NATURE, a nature FAR ABOVE that which Adam forfeited by transgression." E.G. White, The Upward Look,18.

This amazing fact is derived from 1 Cor.15:45-47.

"The first man, Adam, was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a life-giving Spirit. However, that was not first which is spiritual but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. THE FIRST MAN IS OF THE EARTH, EARTHY; THE SECOND MAN IS THE LORD FROM HEAVEN."

"In Christ was found the perfect ideal. To reveal this ideal as the only true standard for attainment; TO SHOW WHAT EVERY HUMAN BEING MIGHT BECOME; WHAT, THROUGH THE INDWELLING OF HUMANITY BY DIVINITY, ALL WHO RECEIVED HIM WOULD BECOME--FOR THIS, CHRIST CAME TO THE WORLD. He came to show how men are to be trained as befits the sons of God; how on earth they are to practice the principles and to live the life of heaven." Education,73,74.

"The Saviour was DEEPLY ANXIOUS for His disciples TO UNDERSTAND FOR WHAT PURPOSE HIS DIVINITY WAS UNITED TO HUMANITY. He came to the world to display the glory of God, that man might be uplifted by its restoring power. GOD WAS MANIFESTED IN HIM THAT HE MIGHT BE MANIFESTED IN THEM. JESUS REVEALED NO QUALITIES, AND EXERCISED NO POWERS, THAT MEN MAY NOT HAVE THROUGH FAITH IN HIM. HIS PERFECT HUMANITY IS THAT WHICH ALL HIS FOLLOWERS MAY POSSESS IF THEY WILL BE IN SUBJECTION TO GOD AS HE WAS." Desire of Ages,664.

"How eagerly do angels look to see who will avail himself of this opportunity!" 1 S.M.416.

"In Christ dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. THIS IS WHY, although He was tempted in all points like as we are, He stood before the world, from His first entrance into it, untainted by corruption, though surrounded by it. ARE WE NOT ALSO TO BECOME PARTAKERS OF THAT FULLNESS, and is it not thus, and THUS ONLY, that we can overcome as He overcame?" E.G. White, MS 16,1890; 7 B.C.907; Ephesians 3:14-19.

"With humanity and divinity combined you can accomplish a work as enduring as eternity." E.G. White, Faith & Works,27.

When this is our experience, we shall do good to one another:

"The law of the human and the divine action makes the receiver a laborer together with God. It brings man where he can, UNITED WITH DIVINITY, work the works of God. Humanity touches humanity. Divine power and the human agency combined will be a COMPLETE SUCCESS, for Christ's righteousness accomplishes everything." E.G.White, Faith & Works,27.

"When divine power (divinity) is combined with human effort, THE WORK WILL SPREAD LIKE FIRE IN THE STUBBLE." E.G. White, Selected Messages, Vol.1,118.

This amazing opportunity is represented by the parable of the Wedding Garment.

"The parable of the wedding garment presents before us a lesson of the highest consequence. By the marriage is represented THE UNION OF HUMANITY WITH DIVINITY; the wedding garment represents the character which all must possess who shall be accounted fit guests for the wedding." E.G. White, Christ's Object Lessons,307.

Thus we read, "Christ is waiting with longing for THE MANIFESTATION OF HIMSELF IN HIS CHURCH. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own." Ibid,69. (Mark 4:26-29)

May God hasten that day.

Sky,

Thanks, it sure is the Way He came to make so all could be partakers of His Divine Nature, Paul said "Christ in you" and EGW made it so very clear all through her writings.

He wouldn't needed to have come and suffered and died if one could be saved any other way.

I would agree and it looks like the "Rich Young Ruler" also agreed so he asked the question how does one inherent the Kingdom of Heaven? The answer Jesus gave has all but been forgotten and covered up by the writer of Romans.

Jesus truely answered and told him that there are TWO things that one MUST do for salvation. The first was to keep all of the ten commandments. The second was to follow Jesus by hearing (reading) His words and obeying them.

Of course what Jesus gave as prophecy in Rev. 12:17 about this same issue is exactly the same things as He told the Rich Young Ruler in Matthew 19. Therefore wouldn't it be wise to follow what Jesus said about this question?

... The answer Jesus gave has all but been forgotten and covered up by the writer of Romans.

Paul also taught that we should keep the law of God. There's no genuine contradiction between Jesus's teachings and Paul.

1 Cor. 9:21

To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.

Romans 6:1-2

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? [2] By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

Romans 6:15

What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

Romans 13:9-10

The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." [10] Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

1 Cor. 7:19

For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God.

Romans 7: 7,12

What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, "You shall not covet." .... [12] So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

Romans 2:5-11

But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.

[6] He will render to each one according to his works: [7] to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; [8] but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. [9] There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, [10] but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. [11] For God shows no partiality.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

"For Christ is the end of the law...." Rom. 10:4)

"But now we have been released from the law..." Rom. 7:6

"For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace." Rom. 6:14

"For the law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, neither is there violation." Rom. 4:15

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Eph. 2:8

"Men of Israel, come to our aid! This is the man who preaches to all men everywhere against our people AND THE LAW." Acts 21:28

Here is the thing: As you, John317, so well put it, Paul would be and say one thing for the Jews and another for the Gentiles as IF there were two different ways for salvation. I too, can and have argued what ever I wanted from the words of Paul. Anyone can pick a side as they have done many times which has now created thousands of different Christian denominations and churches that believe what they want to believe.

As found in this forum, people can argue what they want with all of them saying that what they declare comes from the bible, which are actually from the words of Paul. Can't you see how the real truth has been deminished with the scattering because of Paul's words?

Keeping of the law is impossible to us until it is in our hearts, our thing, our love and our will given over in full surrender, our will and love the same as His. Then and only then we are no longer under the law but under grace. That is the case only when the Gentile realizes what the Messianic Jew did. "Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:"

There is your strength and stay, power and covering. Until He is put out you can be victorious and are not under the law. That law is now a part of your make up to do and there is nothing galling about it. But put Him out and go back into the old wallow and the law pops back up in your face and you are "dead", condemned again by it. It does this to bring you back to repentance again and a stronger committment to not cast Him out again, hopefully.

Paul was working to get the Gentiles to see this and he explained it well. But many today want to wrest what he taught and make it "just believe and you are saved". Nothing more expected is a lie and a terrible deception and a hard snare to brake free from. The whole Christian world nowadays is caught up in the tenacles of this "beasts" teachings.

Jesus forgave this man and then what did he tell him? It don't look as though it was all done for him does it?

Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

People today want to pick and choose instead of looking to find the true understanding given. No it is not OUR way. It only is the WAY HE HAS LAID and He tells us, Mt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

That broad way is with the flow of the world of Christianity and taken it by storm and if it were true, few there would be that would be lost!

It's just the opposite of that dear friends, it is going to be few that will FIND that strait gate and narrow way, not that it's hard but self must die and no way hosea they say, and guess what He will have to say. "I Never Knew You".

He knows you when the soul temple is emptied of self, that old house cleaned of all masters, then He is invited in and He then knows and loves His own as you have become one with Him. "Christ In You The Hope Of Glory" Your will is His Will and your love has become His Love, His commandments are your commandments and your natural way. Dead to sin, Alive in Him. How can one who is thus stationed continue any longer in sin? He cannot unless he choses to again go back to the way of death.

Let us all walk in the way our wonderful Master, Saviour and God has made that we may be in His Eternal Kingdom. It is easy, just and good, and victory is very sweet.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Cheddar,

We must have the Faith of Jesus though, and it is His Way not ours. We keep hearing the echo, believe and have faith and be saved but the continuation of life goes on the same and the heart isn't changed. It is a false faith based on the presumption that Christ did it all, and man don't have any more part to play.

Hey if that was the case He would not have had to come and died, He could have made us all "machines" androids with out any free will of our own. But he wanted His creatures to be free and to be free within His will and our will the same as His.

This change isn't taking place with the "new age theology" of salvation as it requires no conversion.

We must all be free men and women within His will or we would not be safe to take into the kingdom as He cannot have sin to rise up again, and it will not. Why? He can see what we have imbedded in our hearts and souls as to whether we have the "set" to never be disobedient.

It takes True love for the Truth and He is the Truth the Way and The life.

Gibs,

Christ did do it all and paid it all and forgave all and saved all.

Your posts reveal that you don't believe.

Jesus Christ is the savior of the world. This truth is the cornerstone of the 1888 message and the main reason why it was rejected.

All our best efforts are but 'filthy rags' in the eyes of God.

Adventists have been trying to keep the ten commandments for over a hundred years and how many have succeeded? I'd like to know the name of even one person. The Jews tried to keep them for over a thousand years and how many succeeded?

The old covenant is cursed and the only way to succeed in the Christian life is to do what Moses did and smash the Law into the ground into little bitty pieces and learn to live by faith.

LOL, and do you really think that God can't see the sins because He can't see thru the robe? You are the one to be judged, not Jesus! Carry your own cross.

cheddar,

You do have it all wrong and Paul was the first apostle to the Gentiles and he tells you right but most want to wrest it to just believe and you are saved. If it were the way you put forth There wouldn't hardly be any that have gone through some church's doors of the world but what would be saved. What a fallacy, heaven would be as full of corruption as it is here now in just a little bit.

It's way off base to think one can continue in disobedience and be saved.

One must be born again. There must be a death of the old sinful nature that we have nurtured all our lives to a new creature with an new Nature, His Nature within. If this isn't experienced the case is hopeless. But listen to Paul. This was a known secret to the Messianic Jew and Paul tells it to the Gentile this way,

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

That is our hope and none, none need to be hopeles!

This "new age theology" will be the loss of more souls than any other false doctrine that has ever come in.

Yes legalism used to be a problem but those days are long gone. I've run on to but very few legalists. But the fact is, it is no more destructive than the extreme liberality of today that has swept Christianity world wide.

Explain if you will how and why the extreme libealist is born again and for what purpose and what effect does it have on him. Has his doings in life changed or does he not go on the same way the only thing changed is his thinking he is saved.

Is it not all presumption? Born again to a new creature? and no change?

Paul kept the law better than anyone and what did it get him.

His crowning achievement of law keeping was murdering the ones who truly had faith, had God’s love and were real commandment keepers.
