The point is that John the baptist was a loyal believer of Jesus. Ananias and Sapphira were not. Death is the result of unbelief leading to sinful conduct. It is erroneous to believe that God is the perpetrator of harm for any other purpose except to bring about righteousness. When the tares are separated from the wheat at the harvest, it will be plainly seen who is responsible for the damage done and whether it is a result of the wrath of God or the mischief of the evil one.

"For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act." Isaiah 28:21 KJV

If God were regularly rising up in anger against those who fail to meet up with His requirements, what would be strange about His behavior?
