Woody Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Took my dog for a walk at the community park today. My question is: Why is it that dog owners have to be careful to pick up the poop of their pets. But - the big horses come along and feel free to poop where they please? Just a little pet peeve of mine. Do you realize how large the poop from a horse is? (Not pleasant to step into unawares) From now on I am going to be more careful to patrol the park for poop. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Dottie Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 You make me laugh! Dogs are an inferior animal, didn't you know that? But horses, now they are a regal animal, and should be respected. (TIC) Quote

Administrators Gail Posted March 9, 2012 Administrators Posted March 9, 2012 Woody, nothing is stopping you from picking up their poop. we sometimes pick up after other people's pets. Guess I will need to bring you along when we have our walk. Can I count on you as a volunteer? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Overaged Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Woody, nothing is stopping you from picking up their poop. we sometimes pick up after other people's pets. But imagine the size of the "horsey bag" Woody would have to carry around, in addition to the doggie bag, and his dog...Sounds like Woody needs a wheelbarrow- he could put all 3 in it, and his worries will be over - not to mention his excellent contribution to community spirit... Overaged Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Maybe this outfit will do up some bigger ones for horses, if you ask them nicely? Woody Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 Thanks Overaged. I checked out the PooCrew - but could not find any Horsey Bags. And I fear if I asked them (as you suggested) - that they might not be as experienced as I require. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Administrators Naomi Posted March 14, 2012 Administrators Posted March 14, 2012 I think that if I had a dog and an extra $100 I would buy one. But I like gadgets! This is indeed a poopy thread Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

Kountzer Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 We got a rescued black lab dog about two months ago. She's an inside dog, so you got to take her out two or three times a day. She is reluctant to poop in the back yard, prefers the community playground in the front instead. At first all I had to pick it up with was a mini dust pan In tall grass that was a no go. Yuck! I went to the pet store and bought a good pooper scooper for about $25.00. It works great. I have to hold my breath though. It is hard getting used to the smell. Great dog though. Ellen Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Labs are family dogs. We have a "modified sheltie" (with border collie). She doesn't make a large job and I can easily pick it up with one grab; hand in a bag - sort of. But my son was visiting with his Weimariner (You know, Marmaduke) and he asked me for a bag to pick up after his dog Pharoah. I handed him a little bag like I was used to - he needed a grocery bag for his! That can add up. Quote

We could each weigh the amount of poop our dog produces in on day and find out who is the winner. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Liz Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I have a Yorkie, I would probably win on the light side. I used to have a friend that had a Great Dane, that dog could almost look me in the eyes. I did not look at what he left behind, I was just happy I didn't have to clean up after him. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Woody Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 I have a fenced in area where my dog can poop. But now that we have snow on the deck - he poops on the deck rather than going out on the ground. Haven't figured out what the attraction of the snow covered deck is. It would be an interesting study to determine how a dog chooses where to poop. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Overaged Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 My dogs both do the opposite. I shoveled a skinny path or two in the back yard where it is fenced, so I can get to my van, and, well, lets just say I have to "run the gauntlet;" and sometimes, it isn't pretty. Specially if I am in a hurry and it's dark. We got a whole big back yard, and they choose the spots that I shovel!! Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..."
