The truth, of course, is quite other. There is zero evidence, concrete or otherwise, of Iran having the bomb or even being anywhere close. And there is good, solid evidence of them *not* having it.

But, you know, don't let the truth get in the way of a good (?) story...

It's a cartoon. Not a story.

You could lighten up some on the truth police bit. I don't think anyone would mind.

For one thing, your "facts" (?) are many times wrong, and your so-called "solid evidence" (?) is almost always viewed the wrong way, and from a skewed angle.

So I should be able to have a cartoon without the truth sheriff, and self appointed tell all, end all, arbitrator of truth, coming down on me.

Don't you think?

(as if you had any way of knowing what Iran does or does not have, based on what is being told to the world through the mainstream media..lol)

I'm so amazed at the lack of skepticism and caution about the claim that Iran has a bomb. Why has nothing been learned from the last adventure in Iraq. Does the death of thousands of innocent Iraqi's for nothing mean nothing?

Thank you dgrimm. Some people seem to think it's a news story.

The problem is RLH, I agree its a cartoon, but cartoons are news stories packed in supposed comedy. So they do carry a certain message or story, depending how you look at it. There have been a number of cartoons that have inspired death threats. So there are people that take them a little bit serious. Than you have to look at the posts that the individual posts, so when you see a supposed cartoon by that poster, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Well that cartoon is definitely a story. So I'll agree with Lazarus and Bravus on this being a story and not just a cartoon. But will apologize if that was not the real intent.

The truth will make you free.

Lies will make you a slave.

Lies in a cartoon are still lies.

If you post lies, I will post the truth.

Not for you - you can make up your own mind.

But for those who might be deceived - and enslaved - by your lies.

(what amazes *me* is that there's so much work for the 'truth police' - apparently caring about the truth at all is something that's not on the radar of quite a few posters around here)

There have been a number of cartoons that have inspired death threats.

Not from sane people. Maybe you need to have a closer look at those who have threatened others with death, over a cartoon.

I sure HOPE we don't have any of those types in here.

But now that you mention it... thinking

Just because you call that left wing nonsense that you believe the truth, does NOT in ANY way make it the truth. You should stop using the word truth, as if that somehow puts an end to the matter.

It's dishonest.

I can call you a liar just as easily as you can call me one. But I believe that you honestly believe the lies you tell, so I don't.

I guess it's going to take a nuke in Tel Aviv before some of you get serious about Arab acrimony.

You sound like Condi Rice. Are you really going to fall for that line all over again? Arab acrimony? What about American gullibility?

There are matters of fact, and there are matters of opinion.

I do not believe that my opinions are fact.

I do believe the fact that the acceleration due to gravity near the surface of the earth is 9.8 m/s/s. Doesn't matter whether a liberal or a conservative jumps off a building, the result is exactly the same.

I will never say that someone is lying over a matter of opinion, only over a matter of fact.

The facts are that all reputable reports by all international agencies show that Iran does not have nuclear weapons and is very far away from having the capacity to make them.

That is a matter of fact, and to claim otherwise is to lie.

Unless that is information that you have personally verified, you still do not know.

Hysteria over Iran’s alleged nuclear-weapons program has been steadily rising among some U.S. and Israeli officials. But Tamir Pardo (left), the chief of Israel’s intelligence service known as the Mossad, said last week that a nuclear weapon in the hands of the Iranian government would not necessarily pose an “existential threat” to the Jewish state.

Israel’s former military-intelligence chief Zeevi Farkash has been quoted as saying that the Iranian regime is pursuing a nuclear weapon to deter American intervention, not to attack the Jewish state. Countless other analysts agree — especially in the aftermath of several recent U.S.-led “regime change” operations against governments in the region that did not posses weapons of mass destruction.

But despite the heated rhetoric, more than a few respected voices in Israel and the United States have publicly opposed an attack on Iran. Former Mossad chief Meir Dagan, who was succeeded by Pardo last year, has very publicly opposed a military strike. He also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for banging the war drums, saying an attack on Iran would have devastating consequences.

Now you're comparing mushrooms and apples. The distance to the moon HAS been verified (by somebody). Your "news stories" have NOT.

The US should just launch three or four satellites armed with nuclear missiles and park them right on top of Iran. Aim their missiles at every Iranian city and tell them "Go ahead, make my day." Oh yea... almost forgot, "punk"

...because that would totally help Iran to feel more safe, comfortable and secure about *not* having a deterrent. I notice there's not a lot of US pressure on North Korea: because they *have* the bomb. And if I'm noticing, Iran is noticing.

I got shouted down here a while ago for suggesting that a reduction in the US nuclear arsenal was a Good Thing: "we need a deterrent to guarantee peace!" was the cry.

Iran no doubt feels the same way, the more it is threatened. The more a kid is bullied, the more likely he might be to slip a knife into his school bag.

Bullying helps no-one and solves nothing.
