Gibs Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 Overaged, I've always realized Christ is our salvation, but it is faith that brings one to it. Faith in knowing it is in Him and Him only. I can only have Faith in what I know is Truth. I am one that is a stickler that if it isn't truth, I have no faith, trust in it. We all need to grow in faith and He will help us to and learning and determining more things to be solid truth increases our faith. We can have His Faith if we will. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Overaged Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Overaged, I've always realized Christ is our salvation, but it is faith that brings one to it. There are no "buts" in this equation my friend. We are saved only by Jesus. John 1:29 does not say we are saved by Jesus and faith; we are saved only by Him. And many other texts would back this up. Yes, faith is a part of the process how it happens, works is a part of the process, we are part of it, but to emphasize any of these in any way that eclipses the fact that we are saved only by Jesus, and for His glory, simply is not Biblical. Gibs Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 I like this verse as it sets the balance and it is His, Jesus Christ's Words, Ac 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Woody Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 It's ALL about Jesus. We can bring nothing to the table. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Overaged Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 He calls and His Spirit draws but many will not come. Joh 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. But MANY will come: Joh_2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. Joh_4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. Joh_4:41 And many more believed because of his own word; Joh_7:31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? Joh_8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him. Joh_10:42 And many believed on him there. Joh_11:45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. Joh_12:11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus. Samaritans, Jews, and many people of "every nation, tongue, and people" WILL COME and the Gospel of Jesus Christ will never be eclipsed by the gospel of Negativity. Notice the text says, "sanctified" as in the process of Sanctification (to be made Holy). This process is completely different from Justification (declared righteous and saved). You are mixing the two process which is a very common mistake among Christians and nonChristians alike. In FACT it states most clearly that "faith" is an ingredient in the Sanctification process. Gibs Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 miz3, I agree, others may not. Liberality runs deep these days. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ

Gibs Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Woody I told miz3 all would not agree, are these liberal? I think they are. Mt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Mt 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Woody Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Yeah Gibs. But if Jesus was not liberal - I would not serve Him. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Overaged Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Is faith not a feeling? Fact = God and His Word Faith = Our Trust In God and His Word Feeling = The result of our faith Three men were walking on a wall; Feeling, Faith and Fact; when feeling had an awful fall and Faith was taken back. So close was Faith to Feeling; he stumbled and fell too. But Fact remained, and pulled Faith back, and Faith brought Feeling too. Gibs Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 The true answer lies in understanding our Saviours own words in this verse for me, Ac 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. To not have the surity of the fact He is the Saviour of our soul, that is faith, we do not yet have a Saviour. Unwavering, sure and solid faith and He is our Saviour. Faith delivers the coveted need of the heart and here is an example, Lu 17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. How often it pops up, 1Jo 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Even to be the coveted Overcomers He admonishes us to be. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Dr. Rich Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Not to take anything away from the word 'faith', BUT I doubt if that is the best word to use here. Trust is a much better word to use as it does not allow for 'blind faith'. All of those who Jesus said had faith in Him also had knowledge of who, what and why Jesus did what He did. Clearly, one who did not know anything about the words of Jesus could not then have any faith in Him. Today, the word 'faith' is tossed around so freely by people what say they have it, all they while having no clue as to the real words of Jesus. Same for having a feeling--as that feeling may be caused by many things that have nothing to do with the truth of the words of Jesus. So how come people can't trust in the words of Jesus to answer this question? Matthew 19's words to the Rich Young Ruler states the two things one must do in order to be saved and neither of them are faith or feeling. Quote

olger Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Faith baby, faith. "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith" (1 John 5:4). Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

If it wasn't complicated and cloudy a lot of people would be out of jobs. As long as salvation is complicated and cloudy you are still on the hook. It is simply brilliant marketing. Dr. Rich Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 What is the problem with understanding what Jesus said about this issue? To me it's very simple. Trust and obey, for there is no other way..... Quote
