I agree with all the posts except for Ellen Whites. Her writings all sound the same to me. She always pushes people to live the Christian life in their own strength which will lead to one of two outcomes. The weak willed will fail and become discouraged while the strong willed will outwardly have some success and become legalistic.

When we read thru the writings of Paul or Martin Luther or Jones and Waggoner they never wrote the way she did. They always presented the righteousness of Christ and invited people to receive it by faith.

Her writings do have their place for the newly converted and young in the faith. Who need someone to tell them what to do and how to live and what to eat. But eventually we need to grow up and quit having momma tell us what to do. The ones who actually have faith appreciate the writings of Paul. The weak in faith will never figure him out.

They may all sound the same to you, but they don't sound the same as what you're describing.

If you trust in your own strength and wisdom, you will surely fail. {CTr 94.4}

In his strength you can reform, but never in your own strength. {AY 45.2}

You cannot be good, or do right, in your own strength. You must go to God and ask him for strength. {AY 43.1}

Shall we obtain strength from God, and win victory after victory, or shall we try in our own strength, and at last fall back defeated, worn out by vain efforts? —Manuscript 2, 1903. {CTr 89.7}

You can fight against the enemy, not in your own strength, but in the strength God is ever ready to give you. {AH 357.2}

We know that in our own strength it is not possible for us to succeed; . . . . {CTr 204.4}

Fear to trust to your own strength, fear to withdraw your hand from the hand of Christ and attempt to walk life's pathway without His abiding presence. {COL 161.1}

Let the worker for Christ remember that he is not to labor in his own strength. Let him lay hold of the throne of God with faith in His power to save. {COL 232.3}

The Saviour's earthly example has been given us that we should not walk in our own strength, but that each should consider himself, as Solomon expressed it, "a little child."--Testimonies, Vol. 9, pp. 282, 283. {ChL 14.2}

Sounds like you've been reading a different Ellen White.

Sounds to me like there are far too many grown men who follow the ‘words of woman’ instead of the ‘word of God’.

Adam made that mistake and we’ve been paying for it ever since.

The problem wasn't following the words of a woman but the words of Satan. Eve was beguiled and Adam was willinly disobedient. Which is worse? Both are disobedience, because to be beguiled is hearing another over God.

Did God give the woman a lesser mind than the man, I think not. He made them equal, the man was to be the head as the Father is the head of Christ.

The woman isn't to be belittled in no way!

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
