I'm disappointed that the Hoddie thread was locked. I'm open to hearing the diverse views about the Trevon Martin case. Unfortunately, that thread went down a predictable path and really ended up with certain individuals making sure that they post as much as they can being critical of Martin and black people in general.

Why not just delete the objectionable posts?

I'm keen to see where this all leads, in terms of people's opinion and what they are willing to post. It was interesting to see some who like to post high sounding religious posts reveal their true colors.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Yep!!! So why try to reopen the subject?

I don't know, I was rather relieved when I saw that it was locked. I was ready to write another page-long response when I found out, but now I might actually be productive today instead.

Moderator Note:

This is not likely a permanent lock of the topic. I locked it very late last night, or should I say quite early this morning. After a quick look it appeared that several people needed to cool down a bit and find a way to depersonalize their commentary. There is also a smattering of political rhetoric mixed in that does not belong for a variety of reasons.

This is a most serious topic that pleads for calm and rational discussion. It is not the place for political provocateurs or racial rhetoric baiters to troll for a fight. This story is already hot enough without purposely fanning the flames further by intentionally trying to push one another's buttons.

I need to take a look at in the light of day with fresh eyes.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

There was good reason to do this as Dan Jackson, as the NAD President came out with a tainted view slanted against the shooter. As I have said from the first, the problem is not about race even though it clearly appears you want it that way Laz, but the problem is jumping to conclusions before knowing the truth. Many do that today with the bible and it is just as wrong to do that too.

Have you ever been to prison? If you go, you will find that the majority of the fights are between those from Mexico and the blacks. In general, as you stated first, both groups have an attitude problem totally against the golden rule. Jesus said that we will always have the poor with us and I suppose that one reason is enough to believe that there will always be a struggle between those who have an those who don't have.

Thanx, for the opportunity to respond here, as the censor knows I won’t follow my posts to the ‘closed except by permission’ talk board.

>>I'm disappointed that the Hoddie thread was locked.<<

As are all that truly respect truths – without recourse to pitiable sounds re their own regard for same. There is nothing more insufferable than he who foments about a desire for open discussion and then carps about another’s contribution to the dialogue.

>>I'm open to hearing the diverse views about the Trevon Martin case.<<

Then why the carp?—following...

>>Unfortunately, that thread went down a predictable path and really ended up with certain individuals making sure that they post as much as they can being critical of Martin and black people in general.<<

Who introduced the subject?—you or “certain individuals”?—and was the intent then to be critical of Zimmerman and white people in general? So, a MAJOR gripe is that of being critical of “black people in general”? Sheesh, what is there to be critical of? [/kidding] ...and if there is – why the plaint? PC now drives the honest man?

>>Why not just delete the objectionable posts?<<

What?—what posts were objectionable?—your posts and mine were enlightening and interesting; moreover, though not entirely complimentary, mine were factual and truthful – whereas, yours bore the marks of prejudiced interest. So..., what else is new?

>>I'm keen to see where this all leads, in terms of people's opinion and what they are willing to post.<<

Well, it seems you have your wish, as the “Hoodie” thread is now posted in a ‘closed board’, as it were – thereby, on principle, eliminating my further contributions to the issue. That would satisfy your plait as to where “this all leads” :-)

>>what they are willing to post<<

Gd awful tragedy – that truths are intended silenced by such couched words. “Willing to post” – why truths, of course! What’s the objection? Are you not willing to post truths? Sheesh, for a peculiar people who claim an overarching desire for truths – I’ve never seen such willingness, as upon these threads, to censor them.

>>It was interesting to see some who like to post high sounding religious posts reveal their true colors.<< [/ed.jasd]

...sounds denigrating.

However, I take it you meant the above as complimentary, being that it seems I am one of those willing to deal directly with truths per se. Anyway, my “true colors” are red, white, blue, and the color of fermented tea – and my “religious posts” always strive for truth, regardless.

You don’t want honest responses – don’t put it in front of me – I’ll fire up a Cohiba and give you truthful, straightforward, and respectful answers. The question obtains: can you handle them?

Ah, no... I'm sorry, jasd, but I interceded and moved the thread to where the moderation is a bit looser. I had no idea which members have access there. Are you requesting access?

WHAT? How silly is that? It has nothing to do with US politics--the issue would not even have made it on this forum if Dan Jackson had not open his mouth first. I though the thread was one of the best on here until Gail went and closed it.

It appears that they don't trust anyone here to keep it civil.

No idea? Hmmmm? What jasd wrote goes for me as it is a crying shame people thought it was hurtful or harmful--it wasn't.

Then why the carp?

That's what happens in the exchange of ideas. If someone does not like the direction of a thread they are free to say so. That's the point. I thought that would be obvious. You are free to carp all you like, and you do.

I think everyone can agree that your posts would have been the ones that would have been deleted since they were the most objectionable. angelnot

It's really a moderators job to decide which post should be deleted. I was suggesting that option instead of locking the thread.

Everyone who posts claims to post honestly and truthfully I think. Will you stop posting these "powerful" truths if I can't handle them? Probably not.

And Dr. Rich, what I was referring to when I said that I had no idea was the question of who has access there.

Again, if you want access there, let one of us know.

Personally, I thought jasd's posts were the most honest and straight foreward and not objectional at all. I enjoy every one oh his posts. It's too bad now because his posts will be missed. But then I am sure someone is jumping for joy that his and mine will not be on the political thread. Perhaps it will be those who can't stand the truth.

Well I treasure my great blood pressure so I think I will avoid the Political Forum.

So if you read my posts in that thread just know that I was right, you were wrong and everyone will go away enlightened bwink
