It was a thoughtful piece about Newt's claims that both conceded Fox had probably accentuated the positive stories about Romney and the negative ones about Gingrich, but that at the same time Gingrich was in many ways responsible for his own downfall. I did *not* post it as evidence that Fox is biased (see below), but because I found it an interesting perspective on this topical issue.

2. What is 'official' in the title is *not* that Fox is biased, but that Newt *said* Fox is biased. And that's a simple fact, there's video of him saying it. I still wouldn't believe Newt if he told me it was raining and I was soaking wet and watching the drops fall, and no-one is ever going to convince the partisans that Fox is any less balanced than Blondin, but the basic claim here - that Newt said Fox is biased - should surely be uncontroversial, because it's the simple truth.

The point of it all is that Newt, a conservative, is whining that Fox did not do his bidding by covering him as he wanted to be covered after being one of their paid commentators and being the patriarch of Republican politics. And defecting to CNN for "better" treatment simply means that CNN will give him an opportunity after he drops out of the race to get paid to express his POV.

Why else would any politician complain about media coverage from any media outlet? It is usually broad based against all media for reporting what the candidate says and does. So why would he single out Fox? Because there is a general expectation that conservatives should get favorable coverage from Fox and that Fox would focus its less favorable coverage for Democrats. Newt feels like he has been treated unfairly in that scheme of things. Fox betrayed his expectation and treated him like he wasn't a conservative in all that "fair and balanced" coverage.

I would venture to say - that over the past year - Newt has had more air time on Fox than Romney. Now NO - I do not have a reference for this. I base this on personal watching of Fox and I watch it many hours each day.

I would agree Woody, Newt has had much more air time than Romney. Also I'd say that Fox and most other conservative sites have been behind most of the candidates other than Romney, as you also have been and have seen that from most others as well. I do agree with Bonnie that from the very beginning Romney has been the front runner. Like Rodney Dangerfield used to say "I get no respect." From my view this has been Romney getting no respect from his fellow republicans, until now. I think that's sad. Its been my opinion that he has the best chance.

I agree that he has gotten little respect. But then the other choices were conservative choices. Romney is not. But he is a Republican - and so I now LOVE him. I am willing to put all past differences aside. Go Romney.
