Gibs Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I'll just venture to proclaim it will not go that far in time. It is far closer than that. Man is about to anihilate himself and poison all the soil air and water. It is hard to catch a clean fish or a drink of water that don't need purified or to find a place organiclally rich enough to grow things without chemicals. No the end is now very, very near and Yahweh is very hot in indignation of the prevailing sin this world is now in, like in the days of Noe. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. I agree. One would have to be totally oblivious to what is happening around us in the church and in the world not to see that once again we have come to "the fullness of the time." After having read chapter 3 of Desire of Ages, THE FULLNESS OF THE TIME, several times now, I am convinced, more than ever, that it was written more for our time than for the Jews. "When the fullness of the time was come, God sent His son... The deception of sin had reached its height. All the agencies for depraving the souls of men had been put in operation. The Son of God, looking upon the world, beheld suffering and misery. With pity He saw how men had become victims of satanic cruelty. He looked with compassion upon those who were being corrupted, murdered, and lost. They had chosen a ruler who chained them to his car as captives. Bewildered and deceived, they were moving on in gloomy procession toward eternal ruin,--to death in which is no hope of life, toward night to which comes no morning. Satanic agencies were incorporated with men. The bodies of human beings, made for the dwelling place of God, had become the habitation of demons. The senses, the nerves, the passions, the organs of men, were worked by supernatural agencies in the indulgence of the vilest lust. The very stamp of demons was impressed upon the countnances of men. Human faces reflected the expression of the legions of evil with which they were possessed. Such was the prospect upon which the world's Redeemer looked. What a spectacle for Infinite Purity to behold! Sin had become a science and vice was consecrated as a part of religion. Rebellion had struck its roots deep into the heart, and the hostility of man was most violent against heaven. It was demonstrated before the universe that, apart from God, humanity could not be uplifted. A new element of life and power must be imparted by Him who made the world." skyblue888 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 "With intense interest the unfallen worlds had watched to see Jehovah arise, and sweep away the inhabitants of the earth. And if God should do this, Satan was ready to carry out his plan for securing to himself the allegiance of heavenly beings. He had declared that the principles of God's government make forgiveness impossible. Had the world been destroyed, he would have claimed that his accusations were proved true. He was ready to cast blame upon God, and to spread his rebellion to the worlds above. But instead of destroying the world, God sent His Son to save it." D.A.37. In like manner many in the religious world today believe and teach that God is about to rise to destroy the earth. Like the unfallen worlds in the days of Christ they too expect to see Jehovah arise and sweep away the inhabitants of the earth. It is true that once again sin has become a science and vice a virtue. But again, instead of arising and sweeping the inhabitants of the earth, the Lord will impart to His faithful people a new element of life and power and the world will be lightened with the glory of God. Men will be captivated by the glory of an abiding Christ and from the many souls thus won to God, glory will flow to the great Giver. Then probation will close and the impenitent will find themselves without protection from the malice and malignity of Satan who will then have entire control of them and he will plunge the world into one great, final trouble. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." Gibs Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Sky, I especially like this quote you posted, "Sin had become a science and vice was consecrated as a part of religion. It was demonstrated before the universe that, apart from God, humanity could not be uplifted. A new element of life and power must be imparted by Him who made the world." D.A.36,37. That one in it's self is this day and easily seen it is on the par with Sodom and Gomorrah and the days of Noe. What's more today the theology that we can have no power to put away the bent on sinning is a science too that is going to lose many, many souls. The plain statements from the spirit of prophecy and His Holy Word are dispelled and worked with all the slippery slope statements that can be dug up. What is strange here, no one has brought out that the late Harold Camping was one of these and H C put it too close and this one too far. Well it brings out men like it if it is put way on down the road. Does any here think Yahweh is going to apologize to those in Noe's day and to Sodom and Gomorrah? Practically the whole world now is on a par with those and waxing worse very fast. Evil now is exceeding the speed limit badly and Yahweh will soon stop the horrible speeding. We can depend on it, Have full Faith in Him, it will be needed, a Firm Solid Faith that cannot be MOVED. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. JoeMo Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Hi Woody, Very interesting read. Of course, I'don't believe you are proposing this as a "fact"; any more than others find the end of this Age to be Dec. 21, 2012, as predicited by the Mayan calendar. (That date was probably arrived at because the guy who constructed the Mayan calendar simply ran out of room on the tablet he was writing on. Little would he know the ramifications it would have on some of the modern-day lunatic fringe). Those of you that are arguing that the 2nd coming is very, very soon - It's been "very, very soon" since 1844. EGW predicted that some of those alive in her day would live to see it. There must be some pretty old SDA's out there! I believed Jesus was coming "very very soon" in the 1970's; and never bothered preparing for my children's college education or retirement until I was in my 50's. Why should I if Jesus was coming very soon? The church even encouraged us to put our treasure (aka retirement funds) in heaven rather than in the bank. Alot of good that did me. I've got a lot of ground to make up now that I'm in my 60's. Thanks, church! Do you really want to see the end come ASAP? Do you "saints" really want to see billions of people perish in the most horrible sequence of events the world has ever known? Isn't wishing for a quick end a rather vengeful and cowardly way out to avoid proclaiming the 3 angels message that we have so long delayed in doing? "9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Pet. 3:9) If God is patient with us, shouldn't we be patient with each other (including "the world")? Shouldn't we be bringing Jesus to the streets rather than cowering in our pews waiting for the world to come to us? (Not all of us are doing that - there are some great and powerful missionaries out there doing the true work of the Lord.) As a denomination, are we too exclusive to mix with sinners (as Jesus did), and show them love mercy, healing, and grace (as Jesus did)? Some seem to find that mixing with "sinners" - showing them love and grace - to be a "slippery slope"; and fear that sinners will draw us into their miry pit of sin and deprivation. Their miry pit didn't suck in Jesus. If our goal as Christians is to replicate Christ's character in ourselves, shouldn't we mix with the masses - showing God's love and mercy, healing the sick and raising the [spiritually] dead? Didn't Jesus say: "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:12). I haven't seen that prophecy fulfilled yet, at least not in our denomination. Why do some proclaim that the end is near; and people had better perfectly submit to and obey every single one of God's law (as SDA's define them) NOW, or risk an imminent and horrible doom? That doesn't sound like the "good news" to me; it sounds like fear mongering. Jesus said that: "14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (Matt. 24:14) Gospel means good news. World means the streets where sinners live, not just our pulpits. The good news is that our penalty for sin has been paid by Jesus; and all who believe that will be saved. I pray that the Holy Spirit will empower His church to come out of hiding and bring Jesus to the streets, and light up the world with His message of love and grace; that He would empower us to preach His truth, backed up with works even greater than His (as He promised); that His harvest may be great. The sooner we "get" that, the sooner He will come to establish His glorious Kingdom. Quote
JoeMo Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Ref. Matt. 24:14 - It does not say that "the cup of God's wrath will be filled and then the end will come"; it says "the good news of the kingdom will be preached ...". Quote
Gibs Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 JM, I believe the true gospel of the kingdom is beginning to go forth now with the first starters of the 144,000. You need to check out "indignation" in Dan 8:19 my friend, I'll paste it for you here as I know you won't go there, Da 8:19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. "indignation used in this verse is, za`am zah'-am from 2194; strictly froth at the mouth, i.e. (figuratively) fury (especially of God's displeasure with sin):--angry, indignation, rage. See Hebrew 2194 Let me tell you He is "Hot" and the time is short, the appointed time is very near! We are in the very end of the time of the end which began in 1844. The time of the end has been long but it's finish is now at the door. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 JM, His true invisible to most church is now "hot" about it and you are not seeing it. What you are finding to be His church isn't and will stay as it is right now. Asleep and on their "lees" and not washing their robes and not preaching the true SAVING GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM! Here is part of it, next verse, 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ

JoeMo Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Gibs, There is a spirit being out there who accuses the bretren; and fills them with fear and dread of the present and the future (especially the last days). Thank God His time is short. Also, I thank God for 1 John 4:17-19: "17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us." I'm not afraid; are you? CoAspen Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 JM, Very good posting! A couple of things 'end timers' forget... 1. Christ was very specific about not predicting 2. Gods time is not our time Also, I think God has had enough of 'accusing of the brethern' over the millenia/centuries/etc, by His one time friend Lucifer. I see him only shaking His head and wondering what people are doing in their own lives to share the Gospel vs pointing the finger. Quote

Daniel Lisowsky Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 "Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us,[a] the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.[c] 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen." - 2 Peter 3:1-18 NKJV Quote

Gibs Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Reading the signs of the times is a work best done by those who have long observed and heeded His Word what would be in the last days. There is much now that show we have come to the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled. This is spoken of in Luke, Lu 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Folks will interpret that verse in more ways than one. But to me it is telling me the times of the Gentiles fulfilled is at hand like it or not. The wickedness now is on a par with the days of Noe and of Sodom and Gomorrah. In one or two more yrs you will wish it was over and God would close it, well in misery a little time seems eternity and at that time even though about over it will seem very long indeed. Satan is soon to be allowed His short time of appearing as Jesus Christ and God of this world but His, the TRUE ONES coming will consume Satan's physical appearace and it is ended. The world's economy is about to crash and then, 2Ti 3:1 ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Yes it can be seen now! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
