Administrators Gail Posted May 16, 2005 Administrators Posted May 16, 2005 Pardon me for asking, but does it look to anyone else like there is only one choice per question in this poll? Is this a trick? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Stan Posted May 16, 2005 Author Posted May 16, 2005 Bob I will never figure out why anyone would think that some hospital doing anything has an effect on this experiement. This is just too weird for words... Bob Sands Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I remember a comment once from you Stan Jensen as I was reporting both good and bad stories about the church, when you saw the bad ones, you said publicly in front of the whole forum, "Can't you find anything good?" How about that for a reason? Quote
Bob Sands Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Gail, if you look closely you will see three choices, picking one only will give your answer to the questionnaire, no trick, just common sense. Quote
Bob Sands Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Hey, Stan, how about a report on the finances of C/A. Revenue vs. Expenses? Quote
Administrators Gail Posted May 16, 2005 Administrators Posted May 16, 2005 No, what I was saying is that you only have one choice per question... either yes or nothing That's not how it works... LOL Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Bob Sands Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Gail, if you read the questions, IMO, you would only choose one, unless you want to condradict yourself, if you do, vote away. Quote

Bob Sands Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 So about $2400 a year in expenses, about half what you previously said this cost you the owner, and you get about $2400 in revenue a year to break even , correct? What's the problem? You ought to phone one of those on the list of Florida Hospital staff that could finance your operation in a heart beat. Quote
Stan Posted May 16, 2005 Author Posted May 16, 2005 If i recall right, i had said 5000 or so to begin with and then corrected it and said around 3,000.. it is in the 3,000 range.. give or take.. yeah the hospital people, i was looking for some names of people i knew, I thought they were in that range or higher.. did not see their names.. Just because there is a one-sided news story does not mean all the truth has been revealed.. I suspect there is more to come... There are stories on how in debt the hospitals are and stories on how much money they have... Moderators LynnDel Posted May 16, 2005 Moderators Posted May 16, 2005 Bob, what Gail is saying is that you can get instant percentage results of votes, without the possibility of someone voting yes on all three, by rephrasing it as one question with a multiple choice answer. By the way, I checked all three yeses, just to see what would happen, and then couldn't uncheck any of them, so I didn't vote. The revised poll question would go something like this: I believe that the Free For All Section of Club Adventist is being eliminated because: ___ of the controversial post recently ___ the finances of Club Adventist ___ other "Other" is often pretty vague, and if you find a lot of people checking that one, it would be good to find out what "other" is and add that one as an option. :2cents: LD Quote LD

Bob Sands Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Ok, now you have my curiosity up about the real reason. That Other catagory is mounting. I may have to design another questionnaire or send Stan a PM to get the real scoop!!! HA HA Quote

Moderators Bravus Posted May 17, 2005 Moderators Posted May 17, 2005 I think perhaps two more pertinent questions are: 1. Why was the Free For All experiment tried in the first place? After all, it's a recent phenomenon, and was always deemed to be experimental, so it should really be no surprise that it's being shut down. My own take is that it was intended as a place for potential new full members to 'get their feet wet' and try out CA for free, but the hope was that people would recognise the benefits they were receiving and be willing to step up to full membership and to be able to post everywhere. It seems as though that purpose hasn't been achieved, so it makes sense that the experiment is being wound down. 2. Why are those who have only ever posted to Free For All reluctant to become members? (This is not an attack, it's honest curiosity) Some are genuinely in major financial struggles, and that I can understand, but $3.50 a month is not a lot of money. One less tofu-burger a month and you could have CA and change for a glass of grape juice! Think about how much time you spend here, and then tell me one kind of education/entertainment etc that holds a candle to CA for value! Do you have cable? Highspeed internet? A cell phone? I also subscribe to Salon.com, which costs about 30 bucks a year, because I find I get the value there. Anyway, let me make it super-clear that I'm speaking only for myself as a member, not for CA or Stan, in raising these questions. Quote Truth is important
cricket Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 In a privately run organization, it is not necessary or expected to present financial statements. It's as ludicrous as someone here asking me how much I make per year. This is a privately run organization. No one except the government has a right to know how and where the money is being spent. If we were shareholders or if this were an non-for-profit organization it would be a different story. Quote
Stan Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 Thanks for the great comments y'all I am not sure if I have said this publicly, or just to the other moderators. I am still not happy about the way C/A is set up, should I have death or apostasy, (Neither I am planning or hoping for ) I would like to see this and other internet ministries continue. That would mean that this should go to a non-profit, or something, or even a profit organization. There is too much liability (not necessarily financial) to this kind of thing to be owned by the Church. I do love our Church, even with its warts, and warthogs.... Ron Corson Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 11 cents a day is still 3.30 dollars a month or 39.60 a year or whatever the discount for year was maybe 30 dollars. So the question is what does this forum give the participant that SDAnet.org, Atomorrow.com or other free SDA forums give. As I recall most of the registered members joined here before there was a monetary charge. So I have no idea of how many people are paid members verses those who like me are not. As far as I know this is the only SDA forum which charges. I would like to see a forum with a large readership, I think charging is counter productive toward that goal. Just my opinion take it or leave it. Quote
