I have no idea. I'm a mother and I hate to see it when my children (or anyone's children) are in pain and are suffering. I do all that I can to help them through it when it happens; and all that I can to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Medically speaking, people heal faster when they're on pain controlling medication--so, allowing pain and suffering when you're trying to heal makes no sense.

Good question, Stan.

I dont understand the question. Who wants pain?

Why do you allow it, Stan?

Remember Adventists Online?

Why do we allow it? It began in Eden. After Eve and Adam sinned God told Eve,

Ge 3:16 ¶ Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

The word sorrow above in the KJV means this from the hebrew dictionary,

itstsabown its-tsaw-bone'

from 6087; worrisomeness, i.e. labor or pain:--sorrow, toil.

And then we read this,

Ex 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

I wonder if all the evil spirits that surround us don't have much pain too. Pain of course of a different nature not of the flesh.

I have a lot of pain from "arthur" but I use a lot of aloe vera and it takes it away just pretty well.

Stan you need to tell us how to avoid allowing it. That would be news of the century.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The real question to me, is NOT why Does GOD allow pain and suffering,,, but rather WHY DO WE ALLOW IT?

That is possibly the best question I have seen posted here Stan.

My gut response is that it is because humans are a parasite and like some Jungian philosophy our nature is the basis for the archtype of evil such as Satan.

If I step back a bit I think that its simply something that runs the gamut starting with simple self preservation that stops us from getting involved because we only concern ourselves with our own homefront to the other end of the scale that is just simply pure and evil greed, a greed that just does not care.

Another problem I see is a matter of going to big. It seems that a lot of times people go from caring about their own family and home to looking to places such as Africa etc. But they skip over the fact that right in their own town, State/Province, and nation there are people that are suffering greatly. People that need that help just as much as a family in some war torn country on the other side of the world. That is not to say of course that we should not reach out to those in those impovervished nations.

Then there is the matter of so many peoples inability to see the whole, to see the All. To think of our entire species as One family, that is connected to each other, then connected to nature. When a person can understand that then you realize that one person hurting will have a butterfly effect and eventually cause everyone pain.

Soooo, shall we terminate pain with euthanasia?

Jesus Christ is the great physician. The only case he lost is the rich young ruler would would not fill the prescription. He is now losing other cases - the Laodicean church members who refuse to buy gold, white clothes and eyesalve. Did Jesus Christ ever terminate pain with euthanasia?

How is that the greatest question posted here???

first Stan should explain what he means by "Why do you allow it?"

Sky it is a great question because it puts the blame right where it belongs. On us. The Divine, The Gods are not responsible for the pain and suffering in this world - we are. The human race. We live in greed, we live in corruption, we are selfish and self centered as a species.

Quote:
Who wants pain?

In a round about way most people do. Some out of pure spite and others by way of not caring. A person that cheats on a spouse, does not stop to help the broken down car by the side of the road, lies, looks the other way to those in need etc is just as guilty as the jackass that likes to go around beating people up, or the maniacs that start wars. So in other words we have all been guilty of it at one time or another.

So the question is great - why do we let it happen and what can each of us do about it?

God made an edict in the beginning after sin that man and woman would have pain and suffering so it is a paradox to ask "why do you allow it".

Question I would ask is, Has any lived since that haven't allowed it? If we had lived as Christ without ANY sin then you would no doubt be exempt. But Christ had to endure it anyway to save us. He endured more than any for our sake. He sweat Blood!

But He will, unless you believe in eternally burning hell.

If you lived with someone in severe, chronic pain who is moaning and groaning a good portion of the day, and has had an anointing and scores of people praying for that person and not one sign that God has heard, you just might change your tune.

We don't have to allow it much longer! The redeemed will soon be free of it and all that is of sin and this world. No more pain and growing old or tired. No locking the doors, won't need locks no more, all help one another and none will be destitute and there will be no lazy ones. There will be nothing at all to disturb our bliss!

This question would depend a lot on what kind of "pain and suffering" we are talking about. There are many types which just come to us, and it has nothing to do with whether or not we "allow" it or not.

LOL, Stan, just thought I had better mention - nothing personal was meant about or to you...I love ya man...just addressing an idea.

Satan is the author of pain and sorrow as he is the author sin. God allows pain to discipline us and to bring us back to our first allegiance. Christ learned obedience through suffering.

Really? scared

How about just natural consequences of actions and of sin. Your picture is showing God as using those events fo force changes. Christ obeys His Father because why???Where did you learn that???

Pain is caused by sin. To say that Satan is the author of sin is not denying the fact that by sinning we bring suffering upon ourselves.

Do you mean to tell me you are not familiar with those passages of Scripture from the New Testament that says that Christ learned obedience through suffering?

He suffered because of our sins.

"... to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings." Heb.2:10.

"Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; and being made perfect, He became the Author of eternal salvation unto all they that obey Him." Heb.5:8.

And let us not forget that He suffered being tempted.

You are avoiding the issue you brought up!!!

You are insinuating that Christ would never have learned obedience with Suffering which you have equated to Sin!

The real question to me, is NOT why Does GOD allow pain and suffering,,, but rather WHY DO WE ALLOW IT?

Why can't we heal others like the disciples did? Is it lack of faith? Would we become too vain? What's the answer? Shouldn't we be able to heal others? Why couldn't Ellen White, or would that have been "too much"?

For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26

Sometimes "pain" just crushes us, end of story. And this happens to the "faithful" as well as the "unfaithful." Just as the rain falls on the just and on the unjust. I don't think you know what you are talking about here.
